The liberals at Associated Press have a special reason to freak out over Black Friday: its a huge day for gun sales, and the background-checks system is severely tested. AP writer Nick Stroud even found space for the noting its a perfect storm, like the disastrous ship-sinking movie.
The volume of sales means some purchasers beat the system, meaning there are only three business days for a background check:

A black rifle should take care of Black Bart.
That's racist!
Actually in the movie I was surprised they had a couple of blacks as the 'bad guys'. No way that would be the case if they made that movie today.
I own a Sig, but am looking for revolver suggestions for a woman. My hands aren’t overly dainty but would like something on the small - perhaps concealable - size...
A Ruger LCR snub nose revolver would be an excellent choice. I have one and it is generally what I carry, especially in the summer m onths because it's easily to conceal in light clothing. It comes in either .38 or .357 caliber. I prefer the .357 because you can still shoot .38 rounds through it but if .357 is the only ammo available it is still good to go. It's a reasonable price and in my experience the polymer frames absorb recoil better than steel J frame snub nose revolvers.
And most likely, it’s not made in China!
If it is, you should look elsewhere.
Check out the S&W LadySmith.
What a load of crap.
With the exception of the big box stores that still sell firearms, just about any gun store will give you the same deal any day of the year (though there are manufacturer sales at certain times).
As for the background checks being "severely tested," all this means is that it will take LONGER than usual, it won't be any easier. I made the mistake of buying a pistol a few days before Christmas back in 2008 (right after Zero was elected), my approval took over an hour that day and it usually only takes about two minutes.
IIRC...a Sig Sauer P226 .40 cal
The mere thought of one of those thugs breaking into your house seals it.
For a good balance of features, I’d consider the Ruger SP101. Its not the absolute smallest revolver on the planet, but its still concealable and has enough weight to it to soak up recoil reasonably well.
The S&W 3 inch is an excellent choice as are many others.
I purchased the new Hornady .38 round which I believe is an excellent choice for short barrel revolvers for less recoil and good effectiveness.
Big Gun Show at the Orange County Fair Grounds in Costa Mesa, California, this weekend, Nov 29-30. See’ya there!
LOL! Too long a drive for me. But there is one in Reno on 12/2-3. JIT for Christmas.
“I thought he used a .40. Did I hear wrong?”
The up close picture of Wilson’s gun that I saw confirmed that it was a Sig Sauer. Probably a P-226 or P-229. I know from personal experience that the P-229 has 12 rounds in .40 S&W (Wilson fired a total of 12 rounds).
My wife has an LCR in .38 with an integral laser. She loves it!

“Or just by them on the internet where you NEVER have to worry about a UBGC.”
Surely you know buying on the internet does not avoid a background check. I live in Texas and bought a rifle on the net from a gun shop in Kentucky, and it had to be delivered to a gun shop in my town and I had to pick it up there, AFTER they did the background check while I was there.
It does if you are buying from a non dealer. Armslist.com is a great way to find people in your area selling their firearms. Just call the seller up, arrange to meet somsewhere, pay the price and drive away with your firearm. Most sellers require you to show ID or a carry permit but no background check is required. I wouldn't buy a firearm any other way.
Sorry. Forgot the “/s on” notation. I’ve gotten several (now lost in boating accidents) via the internet and each and every one had to go through the BGC. There are places such as armslist.com where private sellers can buy and sell privately. Their choice. But there’s nothing in the NV laws that says you can’t go to an ffl and run a bgc on someone if you want to. You gotta still pay for it if you do.
