GOP governor ousted in Pennsylvania

Voters in Pennsylvania chose first-time candidate Tom Wolf (D) over Gov. Tom Corbett (R) as their new governor on Tuesday.

Multiple outlets called the race for Wolf immediately after polls closed on Tuesday evening.

With the loss, Corbett became the first governor in the state’s modern history to lose a reelection race.

Wolf, a longtime businessman who turned around his family’s cabinet company, had maintained a strong and steady lead in polling ahead of the election, though the incumbent’s campaign claimed that the tide was shifting and momentum had turned in his favor in recent days.

Corbett’s approval ratings in the state have lagged throughout much of his first term, amid cuts to education funding. He has also been unable to get pension reform passed through the state legislature, one of his key priorities.

Wolf had called for increasing funding for public schools and leveling a tax on natural gas producers in the state, which Corbett had opposed.

No, but coal fired electrical generation is. Wait until Wolf fulfills Obeyme’s pledge to skyrocket electricity prices.

Delightful.

In my best “Lambsy” voice, It’s the Wolf! Mom, before she passed away, called Wolfie a communist with his beady eyes and Lenin-like beard. Well I live in Ohio now, anyone need asylum?

All Hail The Mathematical Models (well to be fair, the Democrats have probably told them, within a tenth of a percent, how much they cheated and where)

With only 14% counted, Corbett has closed the gap by ~10% points in the past hour.

I’m a committeperson in the Philly suburbs. We’ve been very frustrated with Corbett’s non-campaign. His campaign was practically non-existent around here. He didn’t counter the lies and let the opposition define him. We couldn’t even get yard signs. He should not have run for re-election if he wasn’t going to make any effort to win.

You can’t fix stupid people. I’ve tried over the past few years.

Same here, I'm done convincing people. Let them learn the hard way

Residents of California, New York, and Illinois are up against the same. Don’t lose hope. Where does Wolf stand on abortion?

He turned his back on biblical marriage. See ya.

Oh, and I see pro-homosexual marriage Scott Brown lost too.

How's that "ignore the conservative base" working for ya?

Pike County, PA 60% Corbett, 40% Wolf

Philly 14% Corbett, 86% Wolf

If they moved just PART of one Philly ward to Pike or Monroe County, they could take over those counties.

This is what happened in Colorado, and in New Hampshire, and N.C. The conservative native base is too small to resist the overwhelming volume of invading urban parasites. It’s happening in parts of NJ also.

I would assume that would restricting or eliminating pensions???

A year’s worth of negative campaign ads did the trick.
