Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin spent the early part of the 2014 midterms traveling the country endorsing conservative candidates in Republican primary races, hoping to leave her mark on the future of the GOP.
But on Wednesday, Palin rebuked her Republican successor in her home state, endorsing independent gubernatorial candidate Bill Walker, who is running on a "unity ticket" with Democratic running mate Byron Mallott, instead. Palin's endorsement goes against her former lieutenant governor, Gov. Sean Parnell, who assumed office in 2009 when Palin abruptly resigned and is embroiled in a highly contested race for reelection to a second full term.
Palin offered the endorsement at a campaign reception in her Wasilla home, according to press release issued by Walker.
Parnell's 2013 restructuring of the state's oil and gas taxes dismantled a prior, Palin-championed program that she considered to be one of the greatest achievements of her tenure. That difference of opinion is at the heart of Palin's conflict with Parnell, which resulted in the two campaigning on opposite sides of a ballot measure in this year's primary.
Parnell dismantled Palin's oil-tax increase, called ACES (short for Alaska's Clear and Equitable Share), by signing a repeal of some oil taxes in 2013 that was intended to curb the state's production decline. But many fear the measure will severely diminish the revenue brought in by the state, where oil and gas taxes have accounted for as much as 90 percent of government funds.
Palin backed an initiative to repeal the new law, SB 21, when it appeared on the August primary ballot, which put her at odds with Parnell. (Palin accused Parnell of being "suckered" by "crony capitalists" at the time.) The referendum narrowly failed, garnering 47 percent of the vote as the state's Republican U.S. Senate primary attracted conservative voters

Mitt Romney was far, far to the right of that liberal ex-RINO and now de-facto Democrat Bill Walker that you seem to think is peaches and cream, and even further to the right of Obama. And Parnell is to the right of Romney. If Romney was too liberal for you, how the heck is Bill Walker not too liberal?
Hey, it’s okay for you to be a liberal enabler; you’re just on the wrong website.
And as much as I like Sarah Palin, she really screwed up this time. She let her personal animosity towards Parnell lead her to endorse a liberal Democrat over a conservative Republican. Hey, everyone makes mistakes: President Reagan legalized no-fault divorce and abortion while California governor and signed amnesty into law as president. You can still say that Sarah Palin is the bee’s knees while acknowledging that she really stepped in it when she endorsed Walker. But if you support Bill Walker (and his openly Democrat runningmate) over Sean Parnell, you support baby-killing, higher taxes, special rights for gays, Big Labor, and Obamacare. Just say no to Bill Walker.
I’ve been looking for any proof (link) that Bill Walker is/was pro-abortion.
Got proof?
The people of Alaska owns the oil that the companies are pumping, they pay royalties on it. The people of Alaska actually receive checks from this.
Apparently Parnell would like to gift natural resources owned by the people to the oil companies.
Bill Walker isn’t a libertarian: he favors Obamacare (Medicare expansion) and Big Labor (including collective bargaining and increasing the minimum wage). Check it out:

Mitt is far to the right of no one and nothing.
Not that that reality as shown by his record proving it is out of the way, your point is what exactly?
He said he’d veto any pro-life legislation before backtracking when he realized it was stupid to promoise to veto legislation that hadn’t even been written yet, oh and the democrats support him. Alaska democrats are super “pro-choice”.
Google is you friend, bot.
yes, it seems
Why would she endorse someone who has made her his enemy?
I would have expected no endorsement at all personally
While you’re eating your popcorn - maybe you should do some research on how Sarah ousted the crooked cronies, both demRat and Pubbie in a role she had before coming Gov. - she cleaned house - wherever. whichever side, the corruption fell on.
You probably wont ‘have time’ to read and research this all - your call.
In the coming months, maybe you can tell us the good points about YOUR choice. The right candidate should be able to stand on their own merits?

but “in reserve” doesn’t mean companies can just sit on public land contracts forever, if you don’t drill, give up the contract
My point is that you are a pro-abortion, pro-Big Labor, pro-Obamacare liberal who would be far more comfortable hanging out at Democratic Underground or Daily Kos or something like that than at a conservative website. If you weren’t a liberal, you wouldn’t be supporting the liberal Bill Walker over the conservative Sean Parnell (unless you have a personal grudge against Parnell and it’s that time of the month, as appears to be the case with Sarah Palin).
So instead of voting for evil, you’ll vote for their enablers?
Why should she endorse a pig who’s supported by the DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF ALASKA. Answer, she shouldn’t.
If she just wanted to not support anyone because Parnell is TOO CONSERVATIVE ON TAXES for her liking, whatever, but that’s not what she did.
No. You won’t need to nationalize it. If it costs more to extract than the price, just stop extracting and the price will go up.
Actually that would be the loser Mitt Romney who also backs homosexual rights and gun grabs.
You may be right.
And this re-inforces my Purists only position I’ve made throughout this thread.
A conservative will not compromise. A conservative will not vote for a liberal just because they have an (R) after their name. And in this case Walker has been a democrat, a libertarian and a republican. Whichever way the wind blows, I guess.
And a conservative will CERTAINLY NOT endorse a liberal. And as others have pointed out on this thread, Palin has made many poor endorsements over the years. This appears to be her latest screw-up.
Is it possible that Palin has become Ann Coulter? Former conservative darling - now goofy dingbat?
It’s not her style to ‘go along’ and ignore real problems just because it might expose negative actions of “The Party.”
That’s one of the great destroyers of our country - be quiet - go along to get along.
I prefer an honest politician that you can rely one for the truth...wherever it may fall.
(Per your OWN tagline!)

I am an anti-purist.
Interesting .... so if I lived in AK, you would tell me to “vote Parnell or go to Hell” ?
Is the DEM a commie?
