Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin spent the early part of the 2014 midterms traveling the country endorsing conservative candidates in Republican primary races, hoping to leave her mark on the future of the GOP.
But on Wednesday, Palin rebuked her Republican successor in her home state, endorsing independent gubernatorial candidate Bill Walker, who is running on a "unity ticket" with Democratic running mate Byron Mallott, instead. Palin's endorsement goes against her former lieutenant governor, Gov. Sean Parnell, who assumed office in 2009 when Palin abruptly resigned and is embroiled in a highly contested race for reelection to a second full term.
Palin offered the endorsement at a campaign reception in her Wasilla home, according to press release issued by Walker.
Parnell's 2013 restructuring of the state's oil and gas taxes dismantled a prior, Palin-championed program that she considered to be one of the greatest achievements of her tenure. That difference of opinion is at the heart of Palin's conflict with Parnell, which resulted in the two campaigning on opposite sides of a ballot measure in this year's primary.
Parnell dismantled Palin's oil-tax increase, called ACES (short for Alaska's Clear and Equitable Share), by signing a repeal of some oil taxes in 2013 that was intended to curb the state's production decline. But many fear the measure will severely diminish the revenue brought in by the state, where oil and gas taxes have accounted for as much as 90 percent of government funds.
Palin backed an initiative to repeal the new law, SB 21, when it appeared on the August primary ballot, which put her at odds with Parnell. (Palin accused Parnell of being "suckered" by "crony capitalists" at the time.) The referendum narrowly failed, garnering 47 percent of the vote as the state's Republican U.S. Senate primary attracted conservative voters

Obama was not to Romney’s right on any issue in 2012.
Enough with trying to compare those races.
Fact, Conservative Republican Parnell is pro-life, Democrat-supported Walker is not, you cannot (whilst alleging that you support the life issue) justify your support of Walker by pointing out I voted a pro-abortion Republican for President who was running against a pro-abortion democrat who happens to be one the worst Presidents in history.
You and Sarah are supporting a pro-abortion candidate over a pro-life one, that is your prerogative, but don’t shower me with BS trying to defend it.
That is like blindly following a leader anywhere and even the very best make mistakes.
Ping to Sarah's Awesome List!
I must admit I don't understand very much Alaska's Tax Laws.
All I know there is a ton of Cronyism up there.
Tax Cuts objectively are a good thing, but to whom and what for? That is always where sharks like to hang out.
Not the point really. Mitt was a far left lib that plenty voted for so spare me the BS histronics about Palin and a D that admits it.
It’s not a tax on the citizenry, it’s a charge for natural resources held in trust by and for the citizens, as I’m sure you already know, right? Apples and oranges.
Walker said that other positions he has taken on abortion are unchanged: although he considers himself a social conservative and personally opposes abortions, he would not initiate any effort to restrict them if he is elected, and he would not support anyone elses push to do so.
The “point” is you are trying to defend your support of a pro-abort OVER A PRO-LIFE candidate with irreverent comparisons.
Lame dude, very lame.
I suspect you were done with her some time ago
Did you vote for Romney because he's the father of Obamacare, supports gun grabs, is pro-abortion and pro-homosexual "rights".
You and Sarah are supporting.....
This is from Walker. Palin hasn't said anything yet. I'll wait to hear from her.
Check your pocket.
You are spot on. Walker is no conservative. He is like Rand Paul, a libertarian running as a Repub. If there be any doubt left about him being a half Repub, half Dem libertarian, his choice of a Democrat for his running mate ought to cinch it!
I am finished with Sarah Palin and her "picks." She's got a lot of FReepers from the lower 48 fooled.
watch that door on the way out
I think the tune is called Green Sleeves.
He was the anti-Palin apparently, no way she was going to endorse him. I am a bit surprised she endorsed anyone in that race though.
A RINO purist will do everything possible to stop a conservative from being elected, even when they are the nominee, while demanding conservatives vote for the RINO “because they can win”.
I guess she isn’t pure enough?
Years ago we knew what that hang a moon meant, but; who knows these days?
He didn’t just choose a democrat running mate, he got the democrat nominee for Governor to DROP OUT and ILLEGALLY become his running mate with full support from the State democrats who endorsed the move and failed to replace their candidate on the ballot.
