Palin Endorses Independent-Democratic Ticket for Alaska Governor Against GOP Successor
National Journal ^ | 10/23/2014 | KARYN BRUGGEMAN

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin spent the early part of the 2014 midterms traveling the country endorsing conservative candidates in Republican primary races, hoping to leave her mark on the future of the GOP.

But on Wednesday, Palin rebuked her Republican successor in her home state, endorsing independent gubernatorial candidate Bill Walker, who is running on a "unity ticket" with Democratic running mate Byron Mallott, instead. Palin's endorsement goes against her former lieutenant governor, Gov. Sean Parnell, who assumed office in 2009 when Palin abruptly resigned and is embroiled in a highly contested race for reelection to a second full term.

Palin offered the endorsement at a campaign reception in her Wasilla home, according to press release issued by Walker.

Parnell's 2013 restructuring of the state's oil and gas taxes dismantled a prior, Palin-championed program that she considered to be one of the greatest achievements of her tenure. That difference of opinion is at the heart of Palin's conflict with Parnell, which resulted in the two campaigning on opposite sides of a ballot measure in this year's primary.

Parnell dismantled Palin's oil-tax increase, called ACES (short for Alaska's Clear and Equitable Share), by signing a repeal of some oil taxes in 2013 that was intended to curb the state's production decline. But many fear the measure will severely diminish the revenue brought in by the state, where oil and gas taxes have accounted for as much as 90 percent of government funds.

Palin backed an initiative to repeal the new law, SB 21, when it appeared on the August primary ballot, which put her at odds with Parnell. (Palin accused Parnell of being "suckered" by "crony capitalists" at the time.) The referendum narrowly failed, garnering 47 percent of the vote as the state's Republican U.S. Senate primary attracted conservative voters

The democrats would NEVER support the more conservative candidate. Parnell is the conservative choice.

why is it with technology and/or outsourcing prices of many products go down but oil can’t? Is it written in the Bible or the Constitution that oil prices have to stay high?

Nationalization would be the last resort, I believe there could be free-market solutions that could be put in place that would get us away from dependence on Arab oil.

Thanks to the purists we have had to endure 2 evil administrations led by Obama.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wrong, you Rove-tard.
We have had to endure 2 evil administrations led by Obama because the limp dick (I mean wrist) Repugs gave us McCain and Romney.
And that wasn’t enough for a win even with us conservatives holding our nose and voting for them.
Now our message is clear. We DEMAND a purist candidate. A true conservative like Ted Cruz.
Send us another Mittens or Jebbie or (puke) Paul in 2016 and watch Hillary win.
And of course the anti-purists will once again blame conservatives.
That's a meme you share with most all of the GOP propaganda machine and a lot of liberal scribes and reporterettes.
BS. Both McCain and Romney stated that they knew of vote fraud and chose to let it slide. It was posted on FR.
And the Rinos chose to run both very lame candidates. McCain wasn't serious about winning and Romney has lost more elections that he won. They were losers before the election and everyone knew it.
The new law, SB21, produces the same taxes as Palin’s law, ACES, at $105 per barrel. ACES varied taxes by oil price and SB21 is basically a flat 35%. So with crude at $82, SB21 is much better for the State. Plus, SB21 gives more incentives for new wells than ACES, which is better for Alaska long-term. Current pipeline throughput is ~550,000bpd and declining. Once is hits 300,000bpd it will no long be economic, which would be a disaster. So encouraging new drilling is critical.
