Palin Endorses Independent-Democratic Ticket for Alaska Governor Against GOP Successor
National Journal ^ | 10/23/2014 | KARYN BRUGGEMAN

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin spent the early part of the 2014 midterms traveling the country endorsing conservative candidates in Republican primary races, hoping to leave her mark on the future of the GOP.

But on Wednesday, Palin rebuked her Republican successor in her home state, endorsing independent gubernatorial candidate Bill Walker, who is running on a "unity ticket" with Democratic running mate Byron Mallott, instead. Palin's endorsement goes against her former lieutenant governor, Gov. Sean Parnell, who assumed office in 2009 when Palin abruptly resigned and is embroiled in a highly contested race for reelection to a second full term.

Palin offered the endorsement at a campaign reception in her Wasilla home, according to press release issued by Walker.

Parnell's 2013 restructuring of the state's oil and gas taxes dismantled a prior, Palin-championed program that she considered to be one of the greatest achievements of her tenure. That difference of opinion is at the heart of Palin's conflict with Parnell, which resulted in the two campaigning on opposite sides of a ballot measure in this year's primary.

Parnell dismantled Palin's oil-tax increase, called ACES (short for Alaska's Clear and Equitable Share), by signing a repeal of some oil taxes in 2013 that was intended to curb the state's production decline. But many fear the measure will severely diminish the revenue brought in by the state, where oil and gas taxes have accounted for as much as 90 percent of government funds.

Palin backed an initiative to repeal the new law, SB 21, when it appeared on the August primary ballot, which put her at odds with Parnell. (Palin accused Parnell of being "suckered" by "crony capitalists" at the time.) The referendum narrowly failed, garnering 47 percent of the vote as the state's Republican U.S. Senate primary attracted conservative voters

Yes. Last that I heard, under ACES residents of Alaska were receiving checks for their resources. Now the oil companies get to keep the money? I think that’s bad.

I would say vote conscience/Write in.

Also, a purist refuses to ignore 30 years of RINO failure.
A purist is willing to adhere to the traditional 80% number which means 1 in 5 liberal/off rez votes as long as the platform is followed. And that means all the social issues remain intact.

We aren’t so pure, but it forwards the RINO script I guess.

When you look under the hood, what is a Unity Ticket, is it like a hybrid vehicle, like teaching the world to sing in perfect harmony, like successfully mixing oil and water, a candle in the wind, is it like a gay marriage, can't we all just get along...WHAT IS IT...C'mon people help me out, give understanding.

Its having the guts to understand that “R” doesn’t work like a race card. And sometimes ‘R” is as bad or worse.

I’m not sure how much Palin’s endorsement means anyway. Certainly it didn’t help Karen Handel in Georgia in 2010 or 2014.

Remember, she endorsed Joe Miller for Senate four years ago. And then Lisa Murkowski beat him as a write in candidate.

I’m not sure many people of Alaska still listen to her much these days on topics like these.

FR, the pro-God "purist" site that RINOs love to hate

Well, folks, it happens every four years or so. The presidential election cycle really brings out the RINOS. I have to state and restate FR's positions more and more frequently, because the true blue RINO types simply cannot stand that a conservative site will not support a gun grabbing, abortionist, homosexualist, big government statist. Last cycle it was Rudy McRomney. Boy, did we ever catch hell for not supporting the big RINOs of the day. Hundreds of true blue RINO supporters fled grassroots conservative FR in disgust when they couldn't get their way and called us every name in the...

I’d love for Palin and Cruz to start a new third-party. I’d go with her at the drop of a hat, and never vote GOP again. Both should know by now that the GOP-E elites will constantly backstab them and never let either of them rise to power within the Republican Party.

Exactly! She picked up far more support, from all three “parties” by doing this. Quite the smart move.

Yup. Let the RINOs rot. I think now we will see some defecting since the taboo is broken.

I can’t wait to see the screaming. I’ve been hoping she’d do something like this. If they are good people, so be it. If the R is a POS, no one should vote for them anyway.

What’s an anti-purist?
____________________________________________________

A Republican who will vote for a RINO even if that RINO is a low-life, scumbag, p.o.s. like That Cochran or Mitch McConnell.

Remember, she endorsed Joe Miller for Senate four years ago. And then Lisa Murkowski beat him as a write in candidate.

Murkowski won by cheating. When she lost the primary she ran a write-in campaign. State law says her name had to be spelled correctly as a write-in. Judges ok'ed enough incorrect ballots to allow her to win. All that was posted on FR.
