The Supreme Court on Friday night allowed same-sex marriages to begin in Idaho, ending a dramatic week in which the right of gay couples to marry expanded dramatically across the nation.
In a one-sentence order, the justices denied a request from Idaho Gov. C.L. Butch Otter (R) to delay the unions so the state could continue its appeals. The court gave no reason for the action nor were there recorded dissents.

Please see my post 59. Roberts was the clerk to conservative Chief Justice Rehnquist. Everyone believed he was a conservative, but he’s just a creepy opportunistic weasel. 99% of the conservatives on Free Republic praised his selection. Yes Roberts is a fraud but it says very little about the people who selected him.
I believe it will get even more personal when it hits my state. I keep thinking of that famous photo of the Frenchman frowning and crying on the side of the road as Nazi troops marched by. I expect to get a taste of that. Although, I won’t be frowning and crying. I’ll be gritting my teeth and wanting to rip some peoples’ throats out, and feel the joy of the warm blood beneath my fingernails. If anything could set me off, it’s this.
I don't think you would get 38 states. Eight states (plus D.C.) have enacted gay marriage by votes of their legislatures (CT, VT, NY, NH, DE, MN, HI and IL); three states adopted gay marriage by popular vote (ME, WA and MD); and a number of states where it was imposed by court order have shown no real opposition to it (CA, MA, NJ, VA, NV, probably others).

Years and years of pledging allegiance to the flag, and standing up for America, and all the greatness it ever stood for and represented, with every fibre of my being, down to the deepest pits of my soul. Yet now, I don’t recognize anything about the country anymore, and don’t really harbor any strong emotion or connection towards it. It’s become a distant country of strange, ugly depravity.

I think the big cities and the media are gone. Even in my state most places are Conservative. Probably 80% of the land mass is inhabited by a majority of Conservatives. My state is California.
San Francisco, Los Angeles, and a few other places rule the state. Most of the rest is Conservative in nature.
YES!! What business does a federal judge have telling a state what its laws are supposed to be??
Not to mention all the states that only passed their marriage amendments in the 50% ranges in the middle of the last decade. Heck, NC only passed its ban by 61% in 2012, every other state around there but VA passed them in the 70-80% ranges 6-8 years before.

I thought Roberts was a pretender. When I worked in D.C., it was common to see his face on television joining in at the big parties being given by the PBS crowd and oh, how the leftists claimed him to be the perfect conservative that they could work. I have family now that works in Washington. They tell me the politicians are into this scene. I realize they do not care to stop this.

Just about every republican president has had SCOTUS appointees who turned out to be disappointments to conservatives.

I attribute this as it relates to Reagan and Bush as not having as solid a team in the White House, as they should have had.
You’re in Washington, D. C. You’re going to have some folks appointed that are career people. Those people in Washington have been corrupted.
If these people get into the selection process, or the GOPe gets it’s ugly head in the tent, you’ve got problems.
Anything coming from Capital Hill is suspect also.
You would hope a full vetting was accomplished, but I’m not confident it’s up to snuff. I think that’s why we’re blind sided when the rulings come down.
I’ll tell you, I would demand a vetting process that looked at as full a record as was possible regarding these guys, and I would read a significant portion of their rulings myself before an appointment was made.
These man have massive impact on our nation. They can be a force for good, or a extremely negative force.
You miss the point of WHY laws started being written to oppose calling two perverts of the same sex that get their rocks off with each other marriage?
The 'laws' were a response to Leftists waging a war on self-evident truths and the historically time tested common laws, customs and institutions premised upon them.
Homosexuals are 'winning' because the black robes have moved the bar and pretty much muzzled the reality of self-evident truths and the historically time tested common laws, customs and institutions premised upon them which can be ignored now as 'irrational'.
You know what else is irrational? Those unalienable rights endowed by a Creator.
