"There's no doubt that – after having talked to the families, where it was hard for me to hold back tears listening to the pain that they were going through – after the statement that I made, that you know, I should've anticipated the optics," he said. The 'optics', which included front page pictures of Mr Obama smiling and relaxing in a golf buggy at a course on Martha's Vineyard where he was on holiday, were met with a barrage of unfavourable news headlines and scornful commentary from both Republicans and Democrats.

I saw what he said on tv. He said he was on vacation and then said something about he didn’t think about it being “bad optics”. And I’m just appalled, he was making excuses (as always)
#1 he was on vacation at the time (and apparently should have been given a pass because after all, it was his vacation) and
#2 that he didn’t think about being bad optics and all I could think of was huh, no apology to the family, no remorse about how callous it was - only regret that the optics were bad because it made Himself look bad. That’s all he cared about. He could have at least thrown an insincere apology in there. All I saw was a snippet so maybe he did.

I don’t expect politicians to be perfect, even the most “perfect” ones out there screw up. However, I do expect at least a certain amount of decorum. This current POTUS is the lowest of the low class, worse than BJC, worse the Carter, worse than the worst POTUS anyone else could think of. He’s done more damage to our Country and our reputation than anyone ever before.
Oh, but he does care, about how people see him. That is the optical lens through which he judged that error. He is also a liar. He has no empathy therefore no tears.

“Besides optics - what if the media had not reported that you went to golf course minutes after speaking about the beheading. Would it have been appropriate to go golfing so quickly after such an event if no one ever found out? “
This is the “how to murder your wife” approach - what if no one will ever know?
“Bad optics.” They don’t make glasses to correct your vision when your head is up your ass.
“Bad Optics” is one of the most stupid comments I’ve ever heard. Must have been the “Dude, that was two years ago” guy who writes his stuff. Obviously he doesn’t care about what he DID, and is annoyed that anyone called him on it.
He is missing the ability to know (or care about) right from wrong or feel remorse, and obviously has no empathy for the families who have lost loved ones. His actions repeatedly go far beyond narcissism, IMHO.
Optics? Huh? Is English his first language?

Hey Obama, if you’re worried about “optics”, try pulling your head out of your ass!
If Obama’s post-beheading-announcement golf game had really been bad optics, his approval rating would have gone down by now, at least by a few points. But it hasn’t.
The fact is, thirty-eight percent of Americans blindly support Obama to such an extent that even the sight of him insulting a fellow American by jumping into a golf cart immediately after announcing his beheading is not enough to give them second thoughts about their idol.
