No, I fear he is doing much more than that.

He wants the old Russian Empire back. Which means the west Coast of North America.

From what relatives in Seattle have said, there are large numbers of Russians already there.

Mad Vlad has already pretty much said he doesn’t recognize the sovereignty of the former Soviet satellites. Mad Vlad wants the Cold War back, he wants the Evil Empire back.

Actually it is new...and a direct result of Western meddling in their backyard.

And in other news, RT reports that the Russian "backyard" includes all the occupied territories of the former Soviet Union. Please stay tuned for more from the Kremlin.

I’m betting on the invasion of Estonia either in the next few weeks or in the spring. And then we’ll see just how serious NATO really is.

I wonder why things have escalated to this level? Because of Ukraine?

Ukraine is a symptom of the overall problem, which is America's abdicating a leadership role in the world. Putin readily filled the vacuum created by Obama's abject weakness.

If it happens, the easy bet will be that the Russians will claim that they were “provoked,” and our local Russophiles will tell us that it’s our fault.

I can see Obama utilizing two predictable responses to almost any military challenge — drone or bomber strike against a worthless target and an appeal to the UN to do something. Obama - “the United States requests the UN (mommy) to make them stop. In fact we implore you to initiate sanctions...”

The reach of the Russian Empire was greater than the old Soviet Union. The point is the same

I wonder how many of our apparent Russophiles are just trolls from Russia posting from hacked computers that they’re using as proxies? It’s not like their government isn’t capable of this kind of thing.

Probably only one or two. But the actual Russians are very good at riling-up our hardcore paleos, paultards, and conspiracy-peddlers, to the point where one cannot distinguish between them, and probably shouldn’t. They may dance to a different tune, but it’s the same rhythm.

Shoot them down and then deny it, that is what the Russians do and get away with. They shot down MH-17, invaded Ukraine, are waging war in Ukraine, have green men in Moldavia, support and supply terrorists and they just deny it and few seem to even care. "Oh look some hollywood bimbo just did this or Obola smiled".

Using Obola after reading a Freeper post it, like it! :)

lol, you don't need radar to track the old Bear bombers, the sheer noise of their engines can be heard from space (figuratively speaking). Crews come back from flights with migraines and hearing damage. Even old Puty isn't dumb enough to go nuclear, or that's the end of Moscow. The Russian bear has no claws, but we have an empty chair. Its the Western leadership vacuum that embellishes Russia's nonexistent power.

Its true, these incursions have been going on for decades, but we should never, ever let any nation believe we don’t take our sovereignty or safety seriously or that we would not respond with overwhelming force against any aggression,

It was that clinton in the late 1990s that first decided by craft and policy that we should ‘absorb’ a first strike, whatever that means, instead of a launch on warning as a deterrent,

It was always presumed by those in the know that Russia or another of our nuclear enemies would launch a surprise attack and what had always held them in check was the knowledge that they also would be met with immediate force in return, it was a given, so the only advantage would be an all out surprise scenario, out of the blue, with overwhelming capability.

Does anyone believe that under G W Bush, if a surprise attack was launched against the homeland that he wouldn’t have immediately launched an a massive retaliatory strike?

Does anyone honestly think obama would respond the same? then neither does Putin.
