Hacker Successfully Breached Healthcare.gov Insurance Website
The Blaze ^ | 9/4/2014 | Jason Howerton

A hacker successfully breached Healthcare.gov in July and uploaded “malicious software,” MarketWatch reports, citing federal officials. However, investigators said consumers’ personal information doesn’t appear to have been compromised or stolen.

In a written statement, the Department of Health and Human Services noted that its review shows that the hacked server “did not contain consumer personal information; data was not transmitted outside the agency, and the website was not specifically targeted.” The statement also claimed that measures have been taken to “further strengthen security.”

I heard a computer security expert on Fox saying that once you make a website that is not secure, you cannot tweak it to make it moreso. You have to start all over again from the ground up. He said now that they have tweaked it, it is less secure than when they started.

The Department of Health and Human Services discovered that a hacker “attacked” HealthCare.gov by uploading malicious software that DIDN’T take consumer’s personal information, DIDN’T transmit any data outside the agency and DIDN’T target the website. I’m thinking they might need to change the headline to “HHS Discovers HealthCare.gov Insurance Site”

I heard too many security experts tell us it is not secure and hackers are just waiting until more people sign up to get the data they want.

White hat hackers say that the website does not have loggign software and therefore the management can say that there is no evidence that it’s been hacked or what’s taken etc. Don’t track it means you don’t have to report it because you technically don’t “know.”

This was inevitable. The system was rushed out for political reasons. It was never ready for prime time and now its been patched so much there’s no way it will ever be secure. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg...

I guess the people who get their personal info stolen will have to sue the govt..Oh wait!

He is correct. The system is massively complex with numerous interfaces to other agencies. The best approach would be a complete re-do but that won’t ever happen due to political considerations.

In this corrupt administration, politics and appearance trump all.

That is a realistic scenario. Don’t harvest until the “crops” mature.

Unfortunatly, untold numbers of people will have their medical and other information compromised. Their records will be an open book.

Another colossal mess brought to you by the Obama administration.

LOL

Yeah, they got all the way in to the point that they could put their own software on the system, yet somehow they never thought to access the data (worth millions).

Yes. One security expert on Fox said once they get to one layer, they get to the next one and even IRS records are vulnerable.

I was told when the website was first set up that it was designed to not be secure and to legally require people to provide SS# and other information. I feel that this was purposely done to give criminal associates of Obama and Soros etc the ability to steal people's identities and leave the American people defenseless.

Let me ask the obvious question: what story would the Obama admin tell if the hacker did obtain personal info?

I suspect it’d look exactly like this story.

Probably. Unless they could blame it on Republicans. I just found it humorous that the hacker’s software did (or didn’t do) exactly what the original software does. But I do wonder... How is it discernible from original code if it doesn’t appear to do anything malicious.
