This is exactly how this will play out:
The shutdown WILL occur on Oct 1. No noticeable effects for a while.
On or about October 15, Obama will pull the plug on the EBT cards and blame Republicans.
From October 15 - November 1st, increasing levels of riots will occur in major cities. The entire time, Obama and the Propaganda Corps (ABC NBC CBS CNN NYT) will blame it on the shutdown and on Republicans.
November 1st through 7th, Obama will demand Democrats get to the polls to restore government services.
Democrats will turn out in numbers never seen before on an off year.
Republicans will not take the Senate and will lose the House. Obama will keep importing Latinos at a breakneck speed from then on. There will be no threat of impeachment or limitation any more.
The coup will be complete.
Some people remark that the States administer EBT. True, but in 2013, during the government shutdown, the Feds were about ready to pull the plug on the states. Please note this letter:
Sometimes there is a deadline for the act, and the process isn’t progressing fast enough. O et al see November approaching, and looks like GOP will take the Senate instead of losing the House. O has his clever plans, but seems he has a poor handle on managing them when they start going off the rails - hence the expectation of a dramatic & coarse act (shut off EBT, blame the GOP).
My things have changed since watching my brother toggle in boot codes on one. Gone from paper tape & oscilloscope “graphics” to my daughter’s second word being “iPad”.
By this point, you shouldn’t need any more. Comes a point when you can’t possibly go through it in earnest; you’ll get got before it’s out.
The game may be arranged for an inevitable win, but checkmate has yet to occur - and will require a single illegal move. November 2016 is coming.

While I try to never under estimate the stupidity of the GOP, I think even the stupid party is not that stupid. We will soon see.
If the Left doesn't keep the Senate and recapture the House in 2 months, they lose any ability to progress (if not lose major ground) for 2 years. If they don't have control for the next 2 years, they'll lose POTUS come 2017 - which means little progress (or major losses) for the next 4, and probably 8, years.
Problem is, their base is disillusioned and the opposition energized. There isn't statistical room for subtle surgical manipulation to pull off the win they need. 👉 If they don't get the big House win (and Senate hold) in 9 weeks, they lose the next 8 years. And their leader (or, at least, figurehead) has an apparent goal of instituting a Communist Caliphate - something that won't happen if the 2016 election occurs as normal.
Yes, this year's midterms are a turning point. Methinks you underestimate what it's intended to turn to.
They’ve been that stupid about exactly that situation before. No indication they learned their lesson.
I've done it. It took me more than a decade, but I turned my in-laws from reliable Democrat voters into conservatives.
All you have to do is stick to your guns, and eventually they'll open their eyes.

Great theory, except there won’t be a shutdown.
However, completely unnecessary. I don't know the seats, number and vulnerability the Dems face this coming election but I do know they could openly, blatantly and unobstructed steal every race they need. They proved their capability to do this with the presidential election. They can drill down to the precincts they need, blatantly do what they need to do and there is, pretty close to, no objection or attempt to stop them. In fact, the next morning there will be conservatives, talking heads and some of of very own Freepers crying in their cornflakes and analyzing how we "lost" the election.
