Ask yourself this, though. Is “optics” really just a Beltway parlor game? My hunch about most low-information voters, a.k.a. most voters, is that they’d struggle to name who the vice president is when asked. We’re lucky if they’re cognizant of what happened to James Foley at all, let alone Obama’s reaction to it.

Charlie lines up his putt, but just as he’s about to take his stance, a funeral procession begins passing by on the road that runs alongside the 18th hole.

The passive-aggressive snippiness when confronted

The haughtiness and arrogance
The inability to give a direct answer to a direct question

Obama’s obsession with golf and vacations is his way of detaching himself from the duties and responsibilities of the office that he cannot mange. It is reminiscent of the behavior of Jimmy Carter. The most famous example is when Carter made his “retreat to the mountain” and then gave the bizarre projection ladden “malaise” speech. Someone should inform Obama the lesson that Carter learned. The grade of your Presidency does not change after you leave office no matter what you do.
