VA Scandal Spreads as Watchdog Opens New Probes

A few weeks ago, it looked like only one Veterans’ Affairs hospital was cooking its books. Since then, five more facilities have been accused of doing the same—and new investigations are just getting started.

There may be more secret waiting lists at Department of Veterans’ Affairs hospitals, like the ones that allegedly hid delays for veterans’ treatment and may have led to dozens of preventable deaths. The Department of Veterans’ Affairs Inspector General told a Senate panel Thursday that he had uncovered new evidence of inaccurately reported wait times at VA facilities—and that could mean more secret lists. So far, the IG said, he had not found any veterans who died due to wait times, but his investigation was ongoing.

Three weeks ago, word first broke of a secret wait list for care at the Phoenix VA hospital. Since then, similar allegations have emerged from five other facilities, including ones in Cheyenne and San Antonio. “Since the Phoenix story broke in the national media we have received additional reports of manipulated waiting times at other VHA facilities,” Richard Griffin, the VA’s inspector general testified. “In response we have opened simultaneous reviews at several other VHA facilities.”

And yet as the scandals mount, festering, newly uncovered ones rise to the top of the political septic tank, the Notorious Cipher remains seemingly out of reach, a step ahead, snake oil oozing out of every pore in keeping him politically unaccountable, criminally elusive as can be, critical mass to all that he's been conspiring to reach full blown status the morning of January 17, 2016.

And they called Reagan the Teflon President!

Of course, they (the media) did that out of anger as they couldn't get anything bad to stick to him. They'd never do that to their selected boy-king.

I have stated this on this forum before and a few people disagreed with me, however, it bears repeating:

I will die on the damned curb in front of a VA hospital before I will go inside and subject myself to the incompetent, stupid and downright negligent care and treatment from the assholes inside.

I am a 20 year retiree. I love my country, I have and would again, shed my blood for it if need be.

But I cannot condone nor can I support the VA system we have in this country.

General Shinseki was the Chief of Staff of the Army about the time I retired.

I will only say that I did not agree with every thing he did in his tenure, nor do I think he is the most competent man for the job he currently has, but this cannot be lain on his doorstep alone.

I've been retired for more than 20 years now and I recognized the problems way back then.

There must be investigations, people must be fired, some need to be jailed and the entire system needs a reboot.

The fat, slovenly pieces of shit that call themselves "caregivers" must be identified and fired.

I will be glad to point out a few by name in the Birmingham and Huntsville VA centers.

(I doubt few of the ones I had issue with still work there, but it's a start.)

This is a national disgrace, and my blood also boils at the thought of the Pentagon granting that traitorous, chubby-cheeked, little perverted piece of shit Manning a dispensation to have gender change treatment, yet the bastards charged me $36.00 for a bottle of aspirin that I didn't even ask for.

I’m a retired Fed with 33 years service, a lot of those in a supervisory position. If anyone under my supervision was watching anything, never mind porn, they’d be warned once. The next time a letter would go in the offender’s 201 File. The time after that, dismissal proceedings would begin.

Notice no one is talking about the phoney-baloney Michelle & “Dr” Jill Biden, who have spent a fair time acting like they care about vets. I couldn’t figure out why they were doing it, as they must know vets wouldn’t vote for their husbands.

Yup, now we have ObamaVAcare, and ObamaIllegal-Aliencare, whose two websites will be started using an expected increase in Federal Income from Obamacare.

I am an Army vet (1964-1967) who receives his primary care through the VA. I have been for over a year now been plagued by blockages in my bile duct coming out of my gall bladder.

The pain was so severe I could hardly breathe any more and by the grace of God, I was able to get my VA primary care provider to send me to the nearest hospital emergency room where I underwent two procedures to clear my bile duct and surgery to remove my gall bladder.

The first procedure to clear the bile duct was unsuccessful due to the presence of THREE large gall stones which would require a second procedure utilizing very specialized equipment to remove. During the first procedure, a stent was placed in the bile duct to keep it open until I could be sent to another main hospital which had the specialized equipment.

After the stent was put in, my gall bladder which was full of gall stones was removed by a very competent and caring Surgeon Dr. Dan Tran at Florida hospital Waterman.

Unfortunately, the stent failed to hold and then the second procedure to clear the bile duct had to be pursued much quicker than anticipated at Florida Hospital Orlando which had the necessary specialized equipment to break up and remove the three large bile stones.

The sad thing in all of this is that the VA had been monitoring my liver enzyme levels for over one year including a previous obstruction which went undetected over six months ago.

The blockage in the bile duct prevented any bile or bilirubin from reaching the digestive tract where it was desperately needed and instead backed up everything into my liver and pancreas sending my enzyme levels in the liver soaring and creating a problem with Pancreatitis.

Again due to the VA’s delays in diagnosing my condition I was subject to much grave pain and life threatening disease. I was placed on extremely heavy dosages of a very potent anti-biotic fed Intravenously for four of every eight hours over a five day period before the gall bladder could be removed.

Once again, the VA had a one year warning and completely miss diagnosed the problem.
