Now that we know that Presidential spokesman Jay Carney and his wife, ABC correspondent Claire Shipman decorate their house with Soviet art, it is time to take a look at exactly which messages the DC power couple choose to surround themselves and their children with.
First, take a look at the photograph provided by the Washingtonian Magazine, and annotated by The Week:
Now, let’s focus on the poster on the right...

This decor shows that the Rat party members are out of their minds. That's what I think. Who would prominently display this creepy stuff? On TWO wall areas?

Funnily enough, I posted this one last night on a different thread. Have not cared much for the series. The frequent references to "Reagan is insanely escalating the Cold War" have left me, well, cold.
I was surprised to discover that Carney feels the need to pretend to be straight in this day and age...

But this is the guys house. What he does in his house is his own business. In his office? Different altogether. And I always thought his wife was cute. Well there was THIS in Obama's Houston campaign office:

Both posters appear to be from the Stalin era.
There is nothing funny or aesthetically interesting about Joseph Stalin or the era.
He was a cruel and sadistic mass murderer.

It would be insane for me to hang anything nazi on my wall.Insane or inappropriate?

In my neck of the woods—where they outlawed certain sirens on emergency vehicles because there were so many holicaust survivors—it would be crazy.

There’s also a characaturized bust of Gorbachev on the bookshelf, looks like a “spitting image” (Brit political satire show with puppets) trinket from the 1980s. It’s behind Shipman, to her left.
I’m guessing that all these pics are a setup to stir Conservatives up. All fine and dandy for Carney, who’s a Dem political hack. But for Shipman its a major violation of journalistic ethics. Not that there really are any for Liberal journalists.

I like commie and fascist posters. They remind me of the idiots with whom I am surrounded. It's amusing to have them come around and see them, with them knowing how I see things. They know I'm smarter than they are, so it is already a threatening situation to even be here. So the posters mess with their heads, especially because a portrait of Reagan is on the refrigerator along with a Reagan Bush bumper sticker. :-) Yes, the latter really is black-struck; it makes them think.

And theres a little bobblehead version of Gorbachev on the bookcase on the right side of the photo. What a surprise.
I would have thought Gorbachev wasn't far enough to the left to appeal to Carney and Shipman.

No, but I do have a collection of us, Brit, and Russian posters. They are in albums in my office. I live in a predominantly Jewish town. It would be insane for me to hang anything nazi on my wall.
Exactly.
And if you were having a photoshoot in your home you’d be careful of background posters so that you wouldn’t send an unintended message.
The wife is even leaning over in the flippin’ kitchen shot so that the poster can be seen!
