During the 200 election I found Free Republic. For the next 12 years it was a place I went several times a day for news and analysis. Then during the 2012 election I got fed up with the people who had/have the exact attitude that Herman Cain talks about in this article. So I left probably to never return. This article explains very well my feelings for people who stayed home because Romney was not pure enough for them. Enough that we could have won. I would say those people got what they deserved but the rest of us are paying the price also.
-—and I care what you think because??????
Of course I meant the 2000 election, but I am sure that was obvious.
Of coerce you meant that Romney lost because the independents ( whose votes the GOPe said he was uniquely qualified to get) completely abandoned him.
That seems to be based upon a myth, that of the Conservatives remaining home. Those who did not show up for Romney, per the exit polls, were the mushy middle he was counting on by running away from the Conservatives. That said, I do not think another of the Progressive Republicans will be able to count on even that level of support.
Your gonna love this thread...
Evertything I saw suggested that Romney got even more of the White Conservative vote that Bush did.
Face it, he was a dud of a candidate. He inspired no passion in even those who voted for him.
We couldn’t have won. Romney is/was a joke an incompetent. And the “vote for whoever they give us” gives us the Mitt Romneys of the world. RINOs KNOW that there are enough people who will vote for ANYONE they push at us.
No. I and mine will sit home f it’s just another RINO. No, they don’t have to be “pure”, just merely conservative.
Mittens was never a Conservative and when you have two national health care morons, the voters choose the real moron.
Romney would not have changed ObamaCare. Not one bit.
Are you aware that the link takes you to a rather amusing anti-Obama Youtube video by one of his former supporters, not to a column by Herman Cain?
I’m confused. Is this a really lame OPUS attempt or a really lame blogpimp attempt?
You and Sheila Jackson Lee buds?
The girl is cute although her process of starting to think for herself is still in it’s infancy, there could be hope by the time she’d 40. Although in my day bras were burned, not shirts....
Now you were saying, about Mr. Cain?
No, no, no, no, no . . .
Look, Obama got re-elected because of people like you and Herman Cain.
Rigid uber-conservatives on FR and elsewhere had nothing to do with it . . .
Besides, if Romney HAD won, we’d be just as bad off as we are now . . .
Uh, help me out here, folks . . . .
That is an excellent observation! The next GOP presidential nominee has to capture the mushy middle, while still advocating solid conservative values.
It can be done. Reagan showed us the way. But it won't be as easy as it was back in the Gipper's day. The welfare state is now larger, and the media is now more biased. So the GOP leadership has to be clever, very clever. Personally, I don't think they're up to the task.
Instead, they'll nominate another Bush.
The link goes to a youtube video of a dis-enchanted Obama voter. Herman Cain blog?
Ummmm ..... OK.
Soooo .... now you've returned? --- probably never to leave?
