Bite me, Bill. I don’t vote for frauds, liars or Socialists like Slick Willard. He was nothing but a ringer for Zero, a tool to stop a Conservative from being an opponent in the general.

Uh, help me out here, folks . . . .

You're doing fine.

Though you might add, "Heck, if folks wanted what Romney was offering, they'd vote Democrat."

The next GOP presidential nominee has to capture the mushy middle, while still advocating solid conservative values. It can be done. ...the GOP leadership has to be clever, very clever...

With respect, "clever" my communist cousin's left elbow!

Clever is conniving, plotting, manipulating. Horse manure, "clever." What the GOP needs to do is to field a candidate people can vote FOR. And what they want to vote FOR is to limit government. Shrink government. Get government off their backs. De-power it. Reduce it. That's what they want to vote FOR.

The GOPe defaults, for reasons of its own, to going on defense, offering candidates people choose as a means to vote "against" the opposition, not FOR anything.

There's no "clever" about it. It's dirt simple. People yearn to vote FOR something. People who voted for Romney in 2012 talk a lot about what they were voting against.

They didn't care what they were voting for.

I wanted someone who would dial back the welfare state and reduce the size and power of our government.

WHAT????? Whaat!

WHAT??!?

You mean you wanted to vote for something?

(sarcasm off)

After nearly 40 years of straight Republican ticket voting, in 2012 I voted for a plurality split to at worst weaken the Uniparty winner. To waste a vote by staying home is surrender. I voted third party. I will do it again in 2016 if necessary.

Very well said. Nobody asked us to compromise our principles on Romney. They expected us to abandon them.

Bah!

Then maybe you ought to go online and do a little research, and start filling that cup. Then you'll get the picture. Find out his stance on global warming, gay adoption, gays in the military, minors and the "right" to abortion, etc. You might look into Gay Youth Pride, while you're at it. Middle-school kids, "outreach." Yeah, not nearly the depravity.

He was an amoral man asking me to put him in charge of an amoral force, government.

Nuts.

I voted third party.

Oh, the outright abuse I received here at FR for suggesting that, in absence of a mainstream Republican candidate who would have the temerity to actually stand up for the Republican platform, Ron Paul was a principled choice.

You would have thought I was the Antichrist to hear some of these people go on, or the second coming of Ralph Nader.
