If you took abortion and gay marriage out of the equation, the left would never win another election. --
Not hardly. Wealth redistribution, under force of arms, will ALWAYS motivate the lazy majority. The left never rests. They are about weath redistribution for their own benefit. The left runs on extending welfare, student loans, "free" assistance for this and that. That's what they run, and win on.

I have a third and fourth possibility.
THREE: Using the logic of this argument, plural marriages are made legal. Muslims outnumber non-Muslims eventually. A Muslim state exterminates all openly gay couples, delivering a fair return for their evil.
FOUR: The majority of Americans (sorry, I disagree with the autrhor on this point) finally have HAD ENOUGH and take whatever steps are needed to restore sanity to government.

Concentration Camps? More likely "accidents" during mob violence.

Whereupon polygamy will become legal in less than a year after that, then bestiality.

I don't buy the argument, which I've seen expressed in various ways lately, that if Christians were just kinder, this trouble wouldn't be happening. God knows we have our faults and bad attitudes, but that's not the cause of evil. I think God would bless our culture if believers would lovingly but firmly take a stand for God and the Bible, and stop trimming to please the world.

"The conjugal, male-female view of marriage is too theologically rooted to disappear . . . "
I'm not sure how "theologically rooted" my view is. To me, it is rooted as much or more so in my view of natural law and even common sense.

How come when leftists win the debate is declared settled?? Have you noticed how when they win, the libertarians move on to the next battle? Libertarians don't bother with these threads much anymore.

I’ll be more optimistic if I see something happen in states like Arizona.
The way things are now... they can’t even pass a reasonable bill protecting religious businessmen from government harassment ( even with a Republican governor ).

Or, because of the legal surrender of the true and only real definition of marriage, polygamy is legalized. After that, PETA jumps in and demands legalized marriage between humans and dogs, humans and cats, humans and bears....etc. When that happens, marriage will be redefined (liberals love to change the language) to something PC like a cohabitation contract or something akin to a corporation.

RE: . Ive grew up in very intolerant churches.
May I ask — would you consider it intolerant if a church considers the homosexual act a sin and tells it like it is?
To: Beagle8U
If the queers think the courts can force people to accept them and their sodomite lifestyle, they are in for a very rude awakening!
Really? You might want to review the Civil Rights cases in America!
The Civil Rights issue was based on getting the state governments (mostly the Democrat controlled south) to stop writing laws making it illegal to integrate in the public. A great and noble concept which got corrupted.
You see, the courts and Democrats then used those new laws to go further and said, not only can you not segregate, but must give preferential treatment to minorities. Then, they went even further (please note that "affirmative action" is just like "separation of church and state," neither are actually in the legislation that they use to garner their authority), the courts and Democrats said, we NEED to give actual quotas to minorities.
So, the courts (and most of America) have deemed it appropriate to go from whites using the government to illegally dominate minorities to minorities using the government to illegally dominate majorities. This is where we are and no one can see that or even understand that concept! We didn't stop institutionalized racism, we just changed the color of those who get to wield the power!
Now that some blacks are seeing the destructive, usury nature of the Democrat policies, the Democrats are going after another angle - homosexuals. The Democrats will use this for as long as they can and it will not end with the legalization of gay-marriage.

"They already are targeting kids with this topic. They are telling parents that you shouldn't "teach your kid to be a bigot against homosexuals." Right now, the left/liberals/homosexuals/etc... are actively trying to set it up that if you teach your children that homosexuality is wrong, then you are committing child abuse. It is only a matter of time before the government will come in and scream, "It is for the children!" And then take them away so that you can't "corrupt" them with that backwoods, bigoted, nature-centric teaching like it takes a male and a female to make babies!"
I do not consider that unlikely. They are not going to stop with gay marriage, but will press it until negative views on homosexuality are considered a crime. This is already happening in Europe.
To: Cboldt
Only the far left-wing looney birds like Obama want to force homosexual “marriage” and abortion down the rest of the country’s throats. There is something not right about his total obsession with the radial sodomite movement in this country, unless he’s a sodomite himself and there are smarter men than I am that say he is. So far there has been no lawsuits brought against these people for saying Obama is a sodomite and that’s the reason for the warp-speed attempt to make homosexual “marriage” legal in all 50 states.

I understand your point. I too have witnesses that behavior in churches, but it has a name: legalism. Those people are focuses on the wrong things. But, that is not the same as intentionally ignoring or deviating from God’s word! and His word says in no uncertain terms that homosexuality is an abominable sin. Can God forgive that sin if there is true confession and repentance? Of course, and God instructs us to preach the truth in love. But we are to be salt and light, and not conformed to this world. Whoever loves this world first does not love Jesus.

A NYT columnist is considered “Conservative” because instead of kissing Obama’s ass they only smile at it.
