If I were up on murder charges, it’s not likely I’d leave my fate up to one judge vs a full jury, even in that jurisdiction.

This Donald Kagan is presumably not related to Professor Donald Kagan, 71, of Yale University, an immigrant from Lithuania and father of Frederick Kagan and Robert Kagan. Professor Donald Kagan is known for a number of books, mostly on fifth-century Greece.

No, and his victim isn’t likely to be released from the slammer, either. This “outing” will change nothing. IOW, the entire exercise is about as liberal as you can get.
Same thing a black judge did to my white family in 2008. Family court took my grandchildren. Same judge wrote a paper in 2006 about not enough non-minorities in state custody.
After 3 grueling years and a miracle father got custody after being forced to separate from mother. Moved to another state within two hours of case closing and have been fine for over 3 years now in sunny Florida.
