Since the government shutdown, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting some media member claiming Republicans are in a lot of trouble heading into next year's midterm elections.
Breaking with the trend rather surprisingly Wednesday was the perilously liberal Mother Jones with a piece titled "New Poll Shows Democratic Incumbents in Big Trouble."
The poll was actually from James Carville and Stan Greenberg's Democracy Corps and was titled "The Revolt Against Washington and the Republican Congress."
Despite Carville and Greenberg's conclusions, author Kevin Drum dug deeper into the specifics to find some contrary nuggets:
In Democratic districts, net incumbent approval has plummeted by 11 points, from +8 approval to +3 disapproval. In Republican districts, incumbent approval has gone down only 4 points. You see the same results when they ask a question about warmth of feeling toward incumbents: It's down 7 points in Republican districts and 9 points in Democratic districts.
This isn't good news for Democrats. It's true that attitudes toward the Republican Party have taken a bigger hit than attitudes toward the Democratic Party, but attitudes toward actual incumbents are exactly the opposite. And in elections, that's what matters.

Its already beginning and the reason is what is pointed out here. They are “f—cked” as a Democrat operative email exclaimed. Of course they can count on John McCain galloping to the rescue. The frustrating thing is that the leadership in the GOP and big money that funds them makes it impossible to capitalize on the very strong limited government sentiment of the American people which is only growing stronger.
Carville is looking for work.
scared politicians means money for them.
Yes but they weren’t hyping these numbers. They were glossing over them.
Mitch the Biyatch is another one of those white crackas compromising liberal commie bastard sell outs
The Dems are saying the every law needs to be tweaked and fixed like Medicare and the Prescription Drug Program (Medicare Part D.) They point to the bipartisan effort in both examples. So the party line in 2014 will be that no law is perfect, including Obamacare, and that it needs to be adjusted based on the problems found during the roll out. At the same time, they will point out all of the great benefits of Obamacare.
I can just imagine some of the fixes that the Dems will propose including increasing the subsidies. The Dems will try to use the hardships of Obamacare as a club against the Reps who they will say are blocking the needed changes. Otherwise, the poor, women, and children will be hurt the worst.
I hope the GOP is ready to go on the attack now and not be reactive as they usually are.
Heard some yuppies very quietly discussing the ACA bait and switch in a Whole Foods beer store today.
Yes I know the GOP will keep the US Senate seat in WY no matter what. When is the last time WY elected a Dem to the US Senate? But that’s not the point. Countless dollars will be wasted in the primary between Enzi and Cheney——resources better off allocated going after the Democrats. A good example where money could be better spent is nearby Montana where the GOP should be able to pick up the seat now held by retiring Dem Sen. Max Baucus.
The average person effected by Obamacare will be angry. They won’t be inclined to fix it they will be inclined to get rid of it. The GOP needs to listen to those voters and make a clear message that the President lied and that they are going to get rid of Obamacare. If they want to put forth an expansion of healthcare savings accounts etc and freemarket policies to allow more flexible offering of insurance across state lines then the power to them but what they do not want to do is offer a big bureaucratic healthcare plan of their own.
It is "Obama"care. He owns it.

i would think a negative sign in front of the ‘3’. Otherwise the difference is 5.
Oh yes. That is coming. People aren’t going to get less angry anytime soon and they are going to get even more angry when stories come out where illegal aliens and welfare types are getting free healthcare while they pay more.
This time however, the GOPe may not even be able to crew it up. I sense a tsunami in the wind.
Watch out Pryor, Landrieu, Begich, and Hagan. WE’RE COMING FOR YOU!!
No shock if you listen to Rush......
I’m hoping that is the case. I do see the indicators. They are there in Gallop polls and they are there in the overall media. People are waking up again and they are going to only get angrier. Eventually we are going to see polls showing that people are starting to believe Ted Cruz was right to try to stop Obamacare.
I used to listen to Rush but not as much. Levin is better. Levin isn’t just happy to be right he wants to change the game and help us win. Rush does his part but he doesn’t do everything he could.
