Why Blacks and Women Should Not Have Guns
American Thinker ^ | February 28, 2013 | William A. Levinson

Posted on 02/28/2013 12:45:27 AM PST by neverdem

The Democratic Party believes that it owns the African-American vote, and it also looks to women for much of its support.  This support requires serious reconsideration.  The Colorado Democratic Party, as represented by State Rep. Joe Salazar, has said openly that women are too mentally unstable to handle firearms responsibly.

--snip--

Mfume's NAACP is not, however, the only source of African-American collaboration with racist gun laws.  Pennsylvania House Bill 521 would require concealed-carry permit holders to purchase $1 million in liability insurance.  Sponsors (we have not checked all of them) Waters, Brownlee, Thomas, and Brown are all African-Americans from Philadelphia who agree with racists that the basic right of self-defense should be contingent on one's socioeconomic status:

In 1879, the General Assembly of Tennessee banned the sale of any pistols other than "army or navy" model revolvers. This law effectively limited handgun ownership to whites, many of whom already possessed these Civil War service revolvers, or to those who could afford to purchase these more expensive firearms. These military firearms were among the best made and most expensive on the market, and were beyond the means of most blacks and laboring white people.

Racist swill from purported black leaders like Mfume and the above-named legislators is far more dangerous than that from traditional white supremacists, because most people recognize the latter for what they are and reject their words accordingly.  We encourage African-American voters to look instead to people like Ken Blanchard ("Black Man with a Gun"), and the authors of this piece at BlackPlanet, for guidance on the Second Amendment.

William A. Levinson, P.E. is the author of several books on business management including content on organizational psychology, as well as manufacturing productivity and quality.

I did a little googling on this awhile back. And, I found that when the Texas constitution was rewritten after the Civil War (I live in Texas, God Bless Texas) statutes addressing guns were written with the purpose of preventing recently freed blacks from possessing and carrying guns. An example; until recently, when the Texas gun law portion of the constitution was amended, it stated (paraphrasing) that “one may carry a weapon while traveling”. So, you’re thinking what’s wrong with that? Well, the definition of traveling was no spelled out. In some juristictions traveling was defined as crossing a county line others defined it as spending the night away from ones residence, others set traveling a distance of 100 miles. In other words, the definition of traveling was arbitrary - in the eye of the beholder. Consequently, the traveling law was a defense. Meaning that the law officer who pulled you over was empowered to decide on the scene if you were in compliance or not based upon his personal opinion. If you were apprehended, then you would be required to defend yourself in the local court where you were apprehended. Obviously, especially up to the past couple of decades or so, if you should not be white you would probably not only be arrested but also found guilty by the loal judge - after spending a few days in jail. Conversely, most whites would be waved on their merry way. While not a student of this, I have read enough writings n this subject to say that most state gun laws, both north and south, were rewritten after the Civil War with limiting black ownership in mind. I find it strange that today’s blacks don’t see this.....

This editorial is kind of a yawner. No Democrat can ever say anything so insulting or demeaning that he will drive blacks from the party. In fact, the more racist the Democrats become, the more likely they are to reach that magic goal of 100% popularity among blacks, other than your odd Thomas Sowell kind of a nut.

The group called women doesn't have that intense death wish, but a consistent and very real majority do like to be treated like dependent beggars. A woman capable of caring for herself is anathema to Democrats.

Democrats need and encourage dependency. It's who they are. Luckily, they have a majority of women who like that status, and an overwhelming and growing majority of blacks who want it as well.

I don’t know about guns, but they shouldn’t vote.

The book "Unintended Consequencs" talks about this very thing. While it is a work of fiction, the author does a nice job of weaving the truth into the story.

Apparently, those in Colordo get what they voted for.

In the meantime, to this giant anal orifice by the name of Joe Salazar:

When YOU are attacked & raped-—then you can come to the surface & tell all of us women just how we should protect ourselves......For most of us, a gun is our first line of defense.

Don’t tell me to have a WHISTLE handy-—

Don’t tell me to have a PAIR OF SCISSORS handy......

Don’t tell me to have a CURTAIN ROD handy......

Until you have spent time on the patrol with those in your area who deal with sexual predator crimes, you are totally CLUELESS!!!!!

The pain, degredation & permanent damage done to a woman by a rape cannot be expressed.

Tell me I don’t need a gun?

Tell me I am mentally unstable & shouldn’t have a gun???

Just HOW MENTALLY UNSTABLE do you think the rapist is????

Get your head on straight, Mr Salazar.

At this point, you NEVER deserve to be re-elected, IMO.

Bill 521 in PA has no hope in hell in seeing the light of day. With that said, I fully believe in gun control for blacks. 90+ percent of blacks voted for Barak Obama. They are the enemy. And this is serious ... do you really want to arm you enemy? I consider this the same as sending enriched uranium to Iran. If fact, we face a greater threat from blacks in America than we do from Iran. My comments are based on statistics. It is more dangerous to be in Chicago and killed by a black than to be in Iraq or Afghanistan. Now that doesn’t address Iran, sorry for the mixed metaphor earlier, but how many Americans have been killed by Iran in the last year? Two, three maybe? How about Chicago?

Bring back the KKK wing of the Democratic Party? The KKK harmed individual blacks. They may have even harmed a large number of them.

The KKK is an organization of pikers when it comes to doing harm to the black population. Look at "The Great Society." Now that's destruction!!! Everything else is anecdotal.

As effectively as the Democrats have destroyed black America, since that just attracted blacks in ever larger numbers, I just don't see how moving the KKK to the front of the line could be the least bit detrimental to Democrats.

Bears repeating.

Because it's not generally recognized. But it is absolutely true.

One would have to look at records of the practice to fully make the point, but yeah such vagueness wouldn’t even fly today.

Enslave them again, not with force of coercive law but with giveaways, I guess that does work. At least until the standard for giveaways gets so egregiously large that even those giving away can’t stand it any more.

It is more dangerous to be in Chicago and killed by a black than to be in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Please use some caution on this.

There are more young "black men" killed in Chicago than American soldiers killed in Afganistan. But considering that there are far more young black men in Chicago than there are American troops in Afganistan, I don't think your statement holds up on a statistical basis.

A young white man in Chicago is pretty much as safe as being anywhere else in the US and far safer than being a soldier in Afganistan of any race.

I’m a woman and I own a gun. I’m a good shot, too. I keep hoping a Democrat will break into my house. Of course, I won’t know he’s a Democrat until after I shoot him dead.

Actually it was not the State Constitution that had the traveling provision, it was statute law. But you are correct in that traveling was not defined in the law, and their was statute creep. First judges required a trip accross a county line, then an overnight stay, etc. etc.

Now the legislature has defined it, it means "going somewhere". Some big city DA's were still prosecuting, since the "traveling" thing was a defense to prosecution, not a change in the underlying law. Now it's an exemption within the law, meaning the conducted is no longer prohibited while traveling.

The Texas legislature tends to get PO'd when their clear intent is ignored.
