Well I hope he gets another job. You may have to move though. I think that most people who are unemployed for a long time are people who want to stay int the town they grew up in. Those days are over. Go to Texas or somewhere that is hiring. You will do fine as long as you are not selfish and demand to stay in your small town.
Holy crap! This isn’t even Semi-Semi News!
********
Lamont Phillips, an employee, said the company had been, holding this over our head for a long time,
********
What he was holding over your head, you selfish, greedy communionist, were the facts of fiscal reality.
Now, I understand you collectivist, greedy, selfish bastards can’t be bothered with reality, but the reality is, if your company (or your COUNTRY) has no more money to handout to you, THEN IT’S GONE, and you need to figure out a way to make those fiscal realities work.
*******
My FRiends, the austerity riots we see in Greece are coming to America.
The leftists that are tyrannically ruling this country (”I won.”) will do whatever is necessary to appease the government-sector unions and to ensure they lose as little as possible.
THEY WILL CONFISCATE YOUR PRIVATE RETIREMENT ACCOUNTS.
PLEASE PROTECT YOUR ASSETS HOWEVER YOU CAN AND PREVENT THESE CORRUPT STATISTS FROM FLEECING THE TRUE WORKING CLASS (THE PRIVATE SECTOR).
Americans don’t understand. Unions and obama want American businesses to collapse. They hate economic freedom, they want it governed. They want businesses to fail, and there is absolutely no irony or hypocrisy in what this union did. It succeeded and its members won.
Someone should track Lamont and the other union guys to see where they will be a year from now.
The author missed the rest of the sentence as reported in other publications.
"Theyve been holding this over our head for a long time and now its here, said Lamont Phillips, an oven operator and the president of the local union."
Former Hostess workers in Rocky Mount 'relieved' at plant closing"
Of course the union president doesn't care. He's still on the mafia payroll.
From 2 years ago I had a workman (who has a strong work ethic) tell me all his neighbors had gotten used to staying home and doing nothing, collecting long term unemployment.
Does anyone know the pay scale & perks that these union workers receive?
It would be interesting to know what they are throwing away.
I’m wondering if these people get “layoff” pay through their union or something? I confess I know little about that sort of thing, especially when a company goes into liquidation. It would explain, though, why so many of these folks are apparently unconcerned. If they’re guaranteed, say, six months pay at 2/3’s salary or something, it would make it a lot less scary to be out of work.
Just speculating, of course. Like I said, I’m not really sure how these things work.
Why should anybody work in the Soviet Union, obama will pay them to sit at home.
Pray for America
Lamont, you may want to reconsider that fairly soon, for two reasons:
1. Hostess really is going bye-bye.
2. The Teamsters know who you are.
Next week may be Black Friday but sweets lovers across the nation hung their heads in sorrow on a dark Friday yesterday as Hostess announced they would cease making their line of products, which include the iconic Twinkies brand, because of the Bakers Union Strike.
That attitude seems implausible, but once you’ve been in a union, it’s easy to understand.
The union sets up management as the enemy - the only thing that matters is that the union win, and for the union to win, you have to screw the company. Their attitude here is “Okay, so we lost our jobs, but that’s just a minor thing - we put the company out-of-business!”
Setting up a common enemy is one of the best ways of generating unity and power - the democrats are masters at establishing such boogie men (Big Oil, Evil Insurance Companies, etc). That’s card number one in the union deck - you never do anything for the company unless it’s in the contract, and when it comes to negotiations, there’s no bending - management is the bad guy, and the most important thing is that they get screwed.
How can a story like this not have the facts and figures to make a determination of truth? I’ve casually search with google to find out what the salaries of the line workers are in the bakeries and it is no where. It is like the union is the gestapo on information.
“Phillips said his potential layoff was a “relief” and his “plan is to find another job.”
With obama in the white house and Obamacare the law of the land? Good luck on that. You’ll just as easilly win the lottery, I’m sure.
