MYFOXNY.COM - Trick or Treating may have to wait in New Jersey.

Gov. Chris Christie says that if conditions are not safe on Wednesday for Trick or Treating, he will sign an executive order rescheduling Halloween.

He made the announcement on his Twitter feed on Monday night.

The Garden State was feeling the brunt of Hurricane Sandy as it came ashore just south of Atlantic City.

More than 750,000 people were in the dark. Many of them were in shoreline communities in Ocean and Monmouth counties.

The utilities say it may take until Wednesday before their crews can make a full assessment of the damage.

Mass transit was expected to remain suspended at least through Tuesday and most school districts had canceled classes for Tuesday by the early afternoon on Monday.

This seems like a no-brainer.

Unless your kid goes trick-or-treating dressed as a fish....

Don't have Halloween.

Move it to election day and keep the little looters and their parents busy.

I’ve always thought that Conservatives believed that Society and things like culture, religion and tradition were larger than the Gov’t, and Gov’t was limited in its effects on and dictates to society.

Seems Gov. Christie doesn’t hold that idea.

for a while back in the 30’s there were 2 Thanksgivings I seem to remember reading. Traditional one observed by Republicans and the FDR one observed by Dems

Our local communities made the decision yesterday to move Halloween to Saturday. Don’t know why state government has to get involved.

Halloween wasn’t created by the government, and can’t be rescheduled by the government.

I would like to see him reschedule the election of 2008. The government scheduled that day.

It’s supposed to be a made up holiday anyhow right?

People who bought real pumpkins and carved them for display might be bummed. Does refrigerating them in a plastic bag help them keep, or only turn them black like bananas?

What could Obama have done that is outstanding? i still see nyc is without power ok he is sending money...what irrational president wouldn’t?

Christie is such a suck up sometimes....but lets be real he wants Romney to lose deep down so he can run in 2016.

Its a no brainer. Let the townships decide. I’m pretty sure if the children don’t get to trick or treat their life will not be ruined.

Has Obama done a poor job? This is a disaster not a political event.

Christie’s a lot like Bammy in that they both like to hear themselves talk.

Why did Christie even insert himself into when Halloween should be held? Good gravy! Can’t even the local communities decide on their own, and be in a MUCH BETTER position to decide, when kids can trick-or-treat?

What a PITA.

What fantasy world do you live in? Not political? Of friggin course it’s political. And Christie sold Romney down the river giving Obama the kind of positive press that can alter an election.

But of course Bush’s handling of Katrina wasn’t political so maybe you’re right.

I like that the guy said he will reschedule it. That’s a reassuring thing to be able to tell your worried kid at this troubled time. Governors can decree this or that commemorative day, can’t they? Why not “halloween” this once?
