Stephanie Cutter: Benghazi is only an issue because of Romney and Ryan; NYT more or less agrees
Hotair ^ | OCTOBER 11, 2012 | ALLAHPUNDIT

Posted on 10/11/2012 1:30:11 PM PDT by RobinMasters

The key bit comes in the last 20 seconds but I’m giving you four full minutes because I want you to watch her blithely assure CNN at the beginning that “the administration has been open and honest since day one about the Benghazi attack.” The administration she’s referring to there is the same one that had a dozen or so different intelligence reports flowing in within the first few hours after the attack pointing to an Al Qaeda connection and yet still sent Susan Rice out to lie to the media about a “spontaneous protest” five days later. CNN helpfully refreshes her memory with a lowlight reel of White House spin, whereupon a cornered flack falls back on her most basic impulse in a desperate situation: She blames the other party for making a big deal out of nothing. And by “nothing,” I mean the murder of the U.S. ambassador and three American consulate personnel.

Ace thinks this is a consummate Kinsleyan gaffe, revealing the Obama campaign’s survival instinct at its most rat-like in the aftermath of Benghazi. Could be, but it’s hard to picture Gibbs or Ben LaBolt saying something like this even in a desperate moment. There’s something here specific to Cutter herself and her Orwellian approach to spin. You saw another example of it just a few hours ago.

Damn pesky elections. Such a bother for the Progressive elect to have to explain themselves to the peasant classes.

Was she standing on Ambassador Stevens grave when she said that?

In another century, the butchering of an American ambassador would have caused a world war. I’m certainly not advocating that, but the lack of compassion and outrage shown by Clinton and Obama is mindboggling.

I long for the day when we drop a bomb on Mecca.

Repeatedly denying any security to an embassy in a 3rd world hell hole until 4 are dead, lying about the cause for more than a week and now its all Romney’s fault.

Think about it.

Soon the MSM narrative will be that noone would have known until Romney brought it up. The MSM is totally complicit.

Benghazi is an issue because four of our citizens were slaughtered by terrorists as a result of the willful failure of the Obama administration to provide adequate security. If is also an issue because the administration lied about what it knew or should have known. It is an issue because no one in the administration will take responsibility for their failure to keep the ambassador and the others safe. It is an issue because this administration didn't give a damm about the people who died and, by extension, doesn't give a damm about anyone but themselves.

I’d just love it. Just as my mom loved it when she heard of the bombing of Nagasaki & Hiroshima. It saved her husband-to-be: my darling dad.

Stephanie - I know that to you its ‘no big thing’.

However , wired.com states according to the State Dept.that “We monitored Libya attack in Almost ‘Real Time”.

Why then were there 12 days of lies to the American people comming out of the White House , State Dept., and UN ambassador Rice ?
Why the apology tour and paid commercial to Pakistan ?
Why then did it take the FBI almost 27 days to get into Libya to do a through investigation ?
Why did the Libyian security chief get assasinted today, and there isn’t any mention of it in the enemedia ?

No Stephanie , it isn’t because it’s politically motivated as the White house states ~ it’s because almost anything this administration touches is either ‘over-reach’ , or criminal ; it seems to be “The Chicago Way “ .
I attribute the interest to the ‘sheeple ‘ waking up to the INCOMPETANCE and criminal neglect of this adminsitration ; it is indefensable !

And if Romney is elected (and right now I think he will be), will he be totally on top of this situation? Because if New York City is hit again, it’s the end of the economy as we know it.

I pray for my country.

The Treaty of Tripoli (Treaty of Peace and Friendship between the United States of America and the Bey and Subjects of Tripoli of Barbary) was the first treaty concluded between the United States of America and Tripolitania, signed at Tripoli on November 4, 1796 and at Algiers (for a third-party witness) on January 3, 1797. It was submitted to the Senate by President John Adams, receiving ratification unanimously from the U.S. Senate on June 7, 1797 and signed by Adams, taking effect as the law of the land on June 10, 1797.

The treaty was a routine diplomatic agreement but has attracted later attention because the English version included a clause about religion in the United States.

“As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion,—as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen [Muslims],—and as the said States never entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mahometan [Muslim] nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.”

This is not working.

http://freebeacon.com/cutter-benghazi-is-only-an-issue-because-of-romney-and-ryan/

Update (4:13 p.m.): The Romney campaign responded to Cutter’s remark in a statement Thursday afternoon:

“President Obama’s campaign today said that Libya is only an issue because of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. They’re wrong. The reason it is an issue is because, for the first time since 1979, an American ambassador was assassinated and President Obama’s foreign policy strategy of ‘leading from behind’ is failing. This administration has continually misled the American public about what happened in Benghazi and, rather than be truthful about the sequence of events, has instead skirted responsibility and dodged questions. The American people deserve straight answers about this tragic event and a president who can provide leadership, not excuses.”
