Rush Limbaugh: "I don't care if Romney's "not conservative enough."
RushLimbaugh.com ^ | May 30, 2012 | Rush Limbaugh

Posted on 06/01/2012 9:36:55 AM PDT by Mozilla

He didn't have to say it but he did. Rolled over for the establishment.:

"So Romney has responded (paraphrased), "Oh, yeah? Well, I've got an 80% success rate, Mr. President. The companies that Bain Capital -- using its own money, by the way -- went in and rescued had an 80% success rate. What's your success rate, Mr. President? Zero! Every company you've attempted to save or industry you've tried to give a boost to -- with taxpayer dollars, not even your own -- are bankrupt." And to personify this, to illustrate it, Romney goes to Solyndra today.

Bravo! Well done! I like this.

I don't care if Romney's "not conservative enough." I know some people, like Joe Scarborough yesterday on his show, said (paraphrased), "People don't know about Solyndra! This is crazy. Romney's wasting his time talking about Solyndra. The American people never heard of it and the American people don't care about Solyndra." He said you and I care about it, but nobody else knows about it. I'm sure in certain circles, inside the Beltway, it is considered an inside baseball story that the average American doesn't know about and doesn't care about.

But, see, that's what a campaign is for."

I hear ya. But, we have a candidate now and we have to accept that unless we work with him to remove Obama, we will have no influence at all. If Romney has had his positions changed by voter influence before, then we can do it again. That's something we have NO chance of doing with the community organizer.

Obama's future is set. Win or lose, he will travel the world at our expense to run America down, apologize for our success and urge his friends like the Muslim Brotherhood to keep up their good work. Our best hope is to send an overwhelmingly loud message here and abroad that America rejects the Obama ethic.

Who in their right mind would not rather have McCain as President right now?

Excellent point.

One one recent issue (Rev. Wright) I think it's fair to draw the comparison.

As of right now, I won't vote for either one of these guys. In the case of Obama, there's no chance I would vote for him. On the other hand, Romney has a chance (although slim) to still earn my vote, should he actually campaign on conservative stances. I say ‘slim chance” since I still anticipate he will run Left after the convention. We'll see.....

I am trying to remember to say, "I think" our best hope... etc. I don't presume to be the final word on strategy.

Cain simply self-destructed.

Cain was very appealing in certain ways but he had nowhere near the depth of knowledge and political experience necessary to be an effective and successful Presidential candidate.

The bimbo eruptions were a blessing in disguise.

I understand all that. Just the comment didn’t sit right with me. Rush should care how conservative enough Romney is. He should make sure we don’t have another repeat of the last time a republican was in the White House.

What Limbaugh is saying is that republicans are very passionate about beating Obama. And that is why Rino Larry Sabato says Obama united the base and so a Rino should run with Romney. I get it. And that is why Larry said what he said.

To hell with Conservatives was what larry added because Obama is so bad they’ll take what he give them. So anybody but Obama has become Nobody But Romney. I got it.

There are pros and cons to this strategy. This is not the same as if Palin had won.

Obama is bad but after a few years so reading on the situation, it runs deeper than Obama. It’s the whole democratic party going far far left. And Republicans going Rino. And the economy being treated like junk with crony capitalism.

But yes Obama is a symptom of the problems. And needs to be defeated, but this is not going the direction it should have been. IT should have been Palin, not Mccain’s twin.

So Romney was bound to attack Obama. We’ll see what happens. I’m still for Virgil Goode, personally.

Rush DID NOT SAY that. Here's what he said:

"...the media and the Democrats did what they always do. They started demanding of Romney that he denounce Trump, then they threw my name in there for good measure, and that's always the way it is. It's always the way it is. Republicans are always told they have to repudiate this person, they have to apologize for that person. And Romney didn't do it. And this needs to be pointed out and noted. I know that a lot of people are still unhappy with Romney. Establishment candidate, moderate, not really conservative. Understand all that. But I'm telling you, this is not the McCain campaign. McCain, had the left demanded that he distance himself from Trump, not only would have distanced himself, he woulda gone public and kicked Trump out of his campaign. And Romney did not do that."

You need to correct your post.

romney is not conservative enough????

he is a hard core socialist, the likes of which the republican party has never put in front of the voters before..

a vote for romney is a vote for socialism...period

time to draw the lines and choose sides...

on one side is the constitution...

on the other side is socialism..

like I said, a vote for romney is a vote for socialism...

which side of the line do the so called conservatives stand on...

There is a large group on FR that believes (and constantly claims) Romney is the same as Bambi.

To believe that, you need to be insane.

I hoped Romney would not win, did not vote for him, don't particularly like him (understatement), supported lots of viable alternatives that were more conservative, but.....

There are now two viable choices of who to vote for that can win. You can vote for "The most destructive, the most anti-free market, anti-business, pro-Marxist, anti-life, anti-American, pro-gay, pro-muzzie, pro everything we hate with the will to do anything to sack our country administration ever!" allowing Bambi to totally ruin our country, or you can vote for Romney. I'm sorry, at this point, voting for some supposedly "conservative" choice as some kind of protest or alternative is the most stupid thing I have heard of in my life.

Commiserations...it's all just a damned mess of misgivings about what is and what could have been

In contrast to my vehement opposition to Obama for all that he is, what he stands for, and what he's doing, I am NOT going to be a flagrant FR supporter for him. I'll vote for him, but I'll still not campaign for him, quietly hoping that a majority of voters see the true difference this time.

Many FReepers here have stated they will not vote for Romney because they don’t want to compromise their principles. I understand and respect that, as I am not in the habit of compromising mine, either. But in my opinion, at this critical junction in our country’s history, it is not a time to stand defiant on principles. It is a time for us to step up to save the Republic, and we have a duty to do so by any means we can, and if that means voting for the lesser of two evils, so be it.

Although I wish that it were, this election is no longer about getting a true conservative into the White House. Short of divine intervention, that dream is currently comatose. Note that I did not say “dead” as I believe it will happen, but just not this time around. However, if Obama get re-elected, the dream is dead.

This election has become a desperate fight to save the Republic. Not only for us, but for the future generations of Americans who will have to live with the consequences of the decisions we make here and now. The decisions we make today will – either positively or negatively – directly impact their lives in the future. Most of us – myself included – probably won’t be here in 30 years. But our children – our posteriety – will. And they will live and die based on the descisions we make today.

The left doesn’t stand on any principles. They never have and they never will. They are Godless, secular, materialistic entities. They don’t care about right or wrong. They don’t fight fair. They will cheat, lie and steal in order to keep Obama in power. I believe it is time we fought back. I believe it is time for us to set aside principles momentarily and make the hard decisions that we must make in the present in order to save this country for the future.

First, Romney is nothing more than an opportunistic RINO politician. He will bend in any direction that a wind will blow him. He is not grounded by any principle of which I am aware which means he is guided by whatever issue is most strongly and dearly held by the group that has the most power to put him into the Oval Office. Since he is a “Republican” that means we are the ones who can put him there.

Romney certainly is not motivated by higher ideas or by patriotism – he will do what he needs to do to get elected to Presidency because he believes it’s “his turn.” He will side with and pander to the group tha can get him in there in order to get elected.

Secondly, it is for this reason I don’t perceive Romney to be a hardcore Socialist who would continue the devastating destruction that Obama has wreaked upon our nation. If Romney can get elected as President, he’s going to want to have what every President wants to have and that is a second term. In order to do that he must continue to bend in the direction of those that put him there. In other words, he can be controlled.

Thirdly, Obama cannot and will not be controlled. Our testicular-challenged “Representatives” have shamefully demonstrated time and again their sophomoric inability to protect and defend the Constitution as they have sworn to do. If Obama is re-elected we are guaranteed to lose the Republic – guaranteed no matter what. Obama has already proven beyond any doubt that he has absolutely no respect for the Constitution. Given a second term, Obama will destroy our country. In four years, the America that we grew up knowing and loving will cease to exist.

Does this mean I want Romney to be President for 2 terms? No. To me, putting Romney into the Oval Office is nothing more than keeping the chair warm for the next four years while we (a) conduct damage control on the effects of Obama’s socialist policies already put into place, and (b) find and build up a strong conservative candidate for 2016. In the meantime, Romney can be controlled, especially if we keep the House. Even more so if we can keep the House and take the Senate.

While Romney is keeping the chair warm, we focus on the 2014 mid-term elections. We force more RINOs out of congress and increase the number of conservatives. From there we look to 2016. By that time we should have a solid conservative candidate to run against Romney. Congress will be more conservative, the economy will start to turn around. Fence sitting Moderates will begin to see the Republican party as a vehicle for positive change, bolstering our 2016 Presidential candidate.

It’s a strategy, not a solution. This is a chess game that, in the end we must win. We must look beyond the next four years. It isn’t a matter of standing on our principles at this point in time. It’s a matter of swallowing the bitter pill that must be swallowed in order to get rid of the infection that is festering in the White House and causing the slow, painful death of our country.

I would rather compromise my principles on this specific issue, right now, than to sacrifice my child’s freedom in the future. I will gladly take all the vitriol I expect to have thrown at me for my decision now, than to hang my head in shame as all our children live and suffer under Socialistic rule in the future.

If we fail to stop Socialism here and now, in 2012, we fail all those who come after us. We will go down in the history books as the ones that didn’t care enough to save our country for future generations. By inaction, we waste all the sacrifices of those who came before us and who fought and died to preserve the Republic and liberty. Personally, I don’t want that on my conscience.

Bottom line, we either stand on the sidelines and allow an avowed Socialist to continue raping this country, or we put a “placeholder” in there through which we can control the ship for at least the next four years.

As opposed to the great wisdom of continuing to vote for people who don't represent us.

Sure.

You betcha.
