On Sunday's show host Bonnie Erbe takes the Obama-care mandate on contraceptives, which is not even in effect yet, and characterizes ANY opposition to it as debating issues that were decided decades ago. These NEW mandates dont even go into effect until January 2013 and these libs claim its settled decades ago. She also claims that all of the Republican candidates want to overturn the 1965 SCOTUS birth control decision (Griswold v. Connecticut,) and are coming for your birth control. While making this new mandate their primary issue of concern they hand wring and complain about how Republicans are not talking about real issues.
Bonnie has the most evil looking expression as she lies on TV. Watch her look away from the camera knowing she is making stuff up.
Some highlights for what PBS considers informed debate :
Host Bonnie Erbe: So with this new political focus on birth control (BC) not abortion? Are Americans in danger of losing access to birth control?
Host Bonnie Erbe: Is this a reflection that there are a whole lotta people out there that oppose access to BC, which of course progressives been saying all the time as soon as conservatives ban abortion they will go after birth control, and now we are kind of seeing that coming true but secondly are we entering an era where a lot of people are looking at this and saying :What is happening? This was decided decades if no eons ago
(Obama -care was decided decades ago??)
Linda Chavis: We are not talking about access to contraception. There is absolute access. We had a SCOTUS decision that stopped the states from banning access to contraception called the Griswold decision decided by the SCOTUS in the 1960s
Erbe : Which all the Republican candidates for president want to see overturned
(Really ???)
Erin Matson VP of NOW : We are not talking about religious freedom in this country. Religious freedom includes freedom to choose ones own conscience and act accordingly not to have institutions decide for everyone what private health insurance plans might offer
(How about our freedom to not pay for things that you may want for yourself, that we disagree with, or that we can't use ourselves?)
Nicole Kurokawa Neily of the Independent Womens Forum : I want this election to be a referendum on social conservative values. I want this to be a referendum on gay marriage, on birth control, on abortion. And I want them to be repudiated in 50 states and then we can move on because there really are serious issues facing this country. We have an unemployment issue, a deficit issue, we have a debt issue and why is no one talking about that? I mean my mind is boggled
(Then why did you libs make this issue the headline debate of this show and the last show? You control this show. Your mind is boggled because you are stupid)
Video at link: Video :To The Contrary Birth Control Politics (02/17/2012 )
And We the People get to pay for this crap. Defund PBS Now!!
Ping!
And I pay for this dribble. Unreal.
as of the GOP needed any MORE reasons to pull the plug on their funding
Why bother? Liberal “men” are all neutered anyway.
All our side needs to say is there is no reason churches or insurance companies need pay for contraception when it is free at taxpayer funded Planned Parenhood.
Well the damn democrats took our lightbulbs. I think fair is fair, right? lol.
Why are all Americans forced to support PBS when PBS only supports liberals?
Are you really sure about that? Because I can tell you right now if the 2012 election is on Gay Marriage you will lose and lose big time. Gay Marriage has never been approved by voters anywhere in the nation.
Perfect example of the “straw man” logical fallacy.
Not only that, it's a perfect example of how the leftist media, "public" or otherwise, execute a WH/DNC agitprop campaign. No one was talking about curtailing BC (or are now for that matter) until George Snufalupogous, a reliable agent of the left, forced it into the Republican candidate debate to the bewilderment of all concerned. There's not a chance he thought of doing so all on his own.
Now all of the leftist outlets are trumpeting it as though it's a legitimate issue.
I agree. No one wants to take away birth control. Ain’t gonna happen.
The candidate who says that, and clearly explains WHY, has thrown down the gauntlet and has earned my vote. Although a miniscule portion of the Federal budget, it's appalling that we are forced to support this liberal propaganda.
Let them learn to support themselves.
I think I remember Bonnie Erb, hasbeen liberal pundit, from some show in the past. I’d much rather pay her foodstamps than pay PBS to give her a forum to lie.
Where it not for PBS, she’d have no podium to prevaricate.
We don’t even have a nominee yet and the attacks and distortions by the media and the administration are already starting. It is going to be an uphill battle. If that POS gets re-elected I don’t even want to live in this country any longer. I will take my assets, take an early retirement and leave. I refuse to continue to support unions, deadbeats and congress any longer.
More evidence of collusion between the sycophant media and the Obama regime. This was a set-up from the get-go.
The idea of taking birth control away from the public is a distraction from what the Democrats are actively taking from the public by the truck load..
“More evidence of collusion between the sycophant media and the Obama regime. This was a set-up from the get-go.”
Absolutely, and the first guy to get it was none other than Dick Morris. Of course, he knows the liberal playbook. He helped write it.
What is particularly galling is the extent to which the liberal media will simply lie to our faces. Just one bald-faced lie after another. It’s disgusting.

Well, it must be working. I am getting calls from my Republican girl friends asking about why the GOP is against birth control. We are not against birth control. I told them no one is going to take away their right to practice birth control. For heaven’s sakes. How did this get so out of control?
Obama created a big lie. Trying to take down the Catholic Church. I wish nothing but the worst life has to offer him. May what goes around come around to him in spades.
I cannot imagine what he was thinking and where his advisors were.
Ask your “Republican girl friends” why on earth they’re paying attention to the DLEMM - Dominant Liberal Establishment Mass Media. They should know better.
What they were paying attn to was the video of Rick Santorum talking about the evils of birth control. He said birth control enables women to have sex for other reasons than they were meant to. The two reasons he gave for women for having sex were their husband’s conjugal rights or for pro creation. I do not know what to say. I am shocked. He has a right to his opinion. For himself and his wife. Not for the rest of us. None of his business. What do you say?
That being said Griswold, much like Roe, is judicial activism at its' worst and a BS decision. It opened the door to Roe with its’ phony argument of ‘an implied’ right to privacy. It is totally fabricate argument that doesn't exist.
If their is a right to privacy, how is the income tax legal? What could be more private than how a person makes a living and what he decides to purchase with that money?
Rick Santorum is just as entitled to his shocking opinion, as you are to be shocked by his opinion.
Santorum has already confirmed he has no intention of grabbing anyone’s contraception.
What more do you need to know?
It’s Play #1 in the totalitarian playbook: “The Big Lie.” Make it simple, and repeat it over and over again, and people will believe it. It’s easy to get away with “the Big Lie” when it’s the only message from the official state propaganda organs and it’s not rebutted.
Oh, there is one other aspect of “the Big Lie,” too; it has to be on something totally unrelated to the real issues of the day, and is there to deflect negative press. For this, “the GOP wants to take away your birth control” is perfect. It has nothing to do with the communist infiltrators bankrupting our country.
That is why I posted this. So what did these women hear and what was their opinion of it?
Dems setup Republicans who were desperate for a win after a year of beatings from Obama by themselves (the Dems) appearing to come out in opposition to Obama on this for 'going against the church'
. The MSM played along too acting as if Obama made a big mistake. This appearance of Obama on the defensive was too inviting for them to resist. Then Obama as planned announces the ‘its free anyway’ ‘compromise’ and on cue the liberal Catholic groups all announce they are satisfied with Obama's 'its free' compromise that Plannned Parenthood loves too leaving Republican holding the BC bag.
Republicans cannot win this by themselves. Can the heads of the US Catholic church actually rally Catholic members, who themselves want the ‘free’ contraception, against this mandate? That is the question. So far not promising.
It isn’t out of control at all.
It is a well planned strategy that we first got a glimpse of at the debate where Stephanopolous threw out the topic to set the stage.
Obama cannot run on his record. All he can do is tear down his opponents and paint them as wackos.
Tell your girlfriends the GOP is not against contraception.
Rick Santorum is personally opposed in his own private life, but has no plans of preventing access for others.
He does, however, have plans for improving the economy so that your girlfriends will be able to afford to pay for their contraception along with alot of other items.
I appreciate your words of wisdom and common sense. Thank you. I needed that.
Some of my friends who are exprssing concern are Catholics. Catholics who long used birth control and who are now concerned about their daughters. This is a private concern of theirs. They feel as I do about President Obama interfering with the beliefs of the Catholic Church but are concerned with some of the things Santorum has said about contraception. My daughter has one child. She can never carry another child to term. We are so blessed to have our grandson as now I know we will never have another. But should she re marry, she can never have another child. She will be dependent on birth control unless her husband has a vasectomy.
Chin up FRiend! From here on out it is going to get really really ugly.
Is this contraception issue the last of it? Heck no...they’re just getting warmed up.
We need to stop wringing our hands over the minor problems our guys have and focus (like a laser beam!) on the one gargantuan, humongous, monstrous problem that resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
I agree with your post. So true. This is completely taking our attention to so many problems facing our country today. You are so right.

Santorum has said it is his intention to give each state the right to ban contraception on a state’s level. I have told my friends this is not going to happen. No state is going to do this. I thank you for your reply.
I am well aware of the progression of the so called ‘right to privacy’ by the SCOTUSes over the decades.
Contraceptives(1960s) >Abortion(1970s) >Homosexual Sodomy(2000s) .
That being said the question about this on the ABC debate was a clever trap. The idea was to make the candidates choose between:
1) There is a right to contraceptives via privacy and there-for a right to abortion.
2) There is no right to contraceptives via privacy, and therefor I look like I hate women and like I want to force them to get pregnant because I never left the dark ages
This was a clever trap and Republicans are rarely ready for them.
Of course #2 is something you and I and Scalia understand but trying to explain the difference between a constitional right versus something we actually want to see outlawed, especially when it is so popular to average voters especially women, is clearly impossible in this climate.
Lesson 1: Don't answer got-ya trap questions directly. Better answer:”As POTUS I would veto any attempt to ban BC by the Federal government. Now can we move on to an issue that is relevent this decade?”
That is especially important for Santorum to do. Let them distort that!
Excellent suggestion. You should sign on as an advisor to the candidates. Sometimes silence says more than words can ever say. You are right. They fell into the trap and are now doing damage control. And not very successfully.

I agree. It has only just begun. We need to gird our loins for battle. We are all in this together though and we shall prevail!
Sensing the opposition and power of organized traditional faiths to the ObamaCare mandates, the White House political directorate hatched a scheme.
And virtually everything here appears to have been planned: how the issue would be introduced and narrated, how its borders would be framed (the template of "contraceptive rights" as opposed to "religious freedom"), what language would be employed and repeated, and which words should be avoided, how to answer and characterize the opposition...
Absolutely chilling.
Not the first one either. They seem to walk into every trap Obama lays. I sometimes try to call them to give them advice (out of frustration) but they seem to love losing.
If you look at these ‘interviews’ and debates as more like war and less like a friendly chat with uncle Dave then disarming moderators got-ya lose-lose questions makes perfect sense. Heck, watch Republicans cluelessly go on those MSNBC shows and get nuked,.
Please keep calling. Also, I think Morning Joe is the exception to the MSNBC shows to which you are referring. They always get fair questions and representation on Joe’s show I think. He has excellent guests from both sides.
You analysis of the Griswold/Roe line of cases is correct, as is your analysis of the democrat strategy to make the Republican candidates look bad.
There are two other ingredients to this mess:
1. The whole contraception issue is a “red herring” deliberately designed to deflect the public’s attention from the real issues in this campaign, specifically the regime’s destruction of our prosperity through reckless fiscal policy, a horrible energy policy, the emasculation of our military, and finally their attempts to cement their political power in perpetuity by transfer of wealth from the few productive areas left in our economy to the democrats’ traditional unproductive voting blocs, and;
2. That this whole charade would have been ludicrous from the get-go but for the of the regime’s complete control over their propaganda organs in the media, and the media’s complicity in the scheme.
This is a mock election campaign. Enough dumbed-down brain-dead voters have been herded into the collective farms already, and will play their part by voting as they are told, all according to the script. Thanks to our blatantly communist, media, academia and bureaucracy, we have become a Potemkin Village of a Republic.
The Morning Joe is a pretty liberal show but they treat all their guests with respect and are polite to them.
A Republican on Hardball either has to be a liberal sellout or he will get nuked with scores of got-ya questions. same with Lawence O Donnell, I posted his interview with Herman Cain here last summer. What a jerk!
The game is real simple, Ask questions intended to alienate ether the target's base supporters from him/her with one answer, or alienate general voters with the other. I call it “Split the base from the general voters”, also lose-lose.
I have come to the conclusion that GOP candidates simply need to stop talking to these A-holes and go directly to the people.
I simply cannot watch O’Donnell. He makes no effort to be fair or even respectful to those with which he does not agree. I have been married to a yellow dog dem for over 45 years and have not killed him yet. And we treat each other with respect always. But Joe I think is always fair and treats all of his guests with respects. I will miss Pat Buchanan. Barnicle always used the word irascible to describe Buchanan. And he used it with great affection. Buchanan will be missed by many.
Also, I cannot leave it unsaid,I am sure this is indicative of how shallow I am, but Mika gets on my last nerve. The only word that comes to mind anytime she is on camera is “vapid”....Vapid. That is it. She adds nothing to any conversation. Silly, empty headed woman. There. I feel better. Thank you for listening.
