Donald Trump endorsed Mitt Romney for president Thursday, saying he's impressed by the Republican candidate's debate prowess and believes he could easily beat President Obama in November.
"Mitt is tough. He's smart. He's sharp. He's not going to allow bad things to continue to happen to this country that we all love," Trump said in Las Vegas, telling the candidate to "go out and get 'em."
The real estate mogul, speaking briefly with reporters before the announcement, said that even though he "never knew" Romney before the race began, he's come to know him in recent months.
"His general attitude and the last two debates were very impressive," Trump said.
He also cited Romney's position on China, calling the former Massachusetts governor

HAHA, LOL. Would be funny to go back to those "Trump to endorse Newt" threads and find all the people who thought Trump was great then and suddenly think he is a pile of rat dung now. Just hilarious how quickly people get thrown under the bus.
Trump is a clown no matter who he endorses. This endorsement will likely hurt Romney more than help and I glad to see him get it.

Actually, Obama is the real Wall Street candidate -- at least as much as Mitt. Goldman Sachs ring a bell? Wall Street bailouts? Even before what we think of today as social issues entered the picture, Northeast Republicans were Wall Street/big business (with gov't favors) types. Any conservatives favoring an actual free market and small business must have been in the Midwest -- they certainly weren't in the Northeast.
The real class war is between the Ruling Class and the Country Class. Codevilla puts "big finance" squarely in the Ruling Class column.

This looks even worse for Romney than it would have for Newt if he was the one blessed by Trump. Romney wouldnt even join a debate moderated by Trump, yet Trump picks him. .
As I recall there were a few threads in December where some giddy with Newt were singing the praise for Trump.
You’re right about that. I loved it when Trump proved to everyone you could be a personality of wealth and import from the East Coast, and still choose to open your mouth and bash away right up front and take it to the president

He dared the media to come after him for it, and they did not come after him by much measure whatsoever.
THIS was a lesson well learned. I appriciated Trump for teaching it.
I was shocked yesterday when it was reported his endorsement was going to NEWT. I was delighted and thought foolishly that he admired Newt’s combative style.
This is a better fit for Trump to endorse Romno-money. It is the money thing, you know...his, and Romney’s they are most interested in.

There was at least six threads so there are way too many to count but I would say in the hundreds. Don’t act like you didn’t see them all over the place. They were bragging Trump big time.

I like Trump. I didn’t dive in after the Newt announcement, although honestly, I was pleased. I was hoping it would be another source of money for Gingrich.
I’m now disappointed, although even when I was positive toward Trump, last fall was it, I never considered him what I’d call a conservative. He hadn’t been in the past, anyway.
Anyone has a right to get steamed at a promise (IF one was made) that’s broken so quickly. If it’s true that Trump was saying 2 days ago he’d endorse Newt, Newt should be pissed.
Who knows what happened? COunt me with the great majority of all voters, certainly including conservative ones, who don’t think much (if not quite NOTHING) of Trump or his endorsements.
Trump will be most useful to any candidate as a hatchet man against Obama. Now THAT I will take.
Go Newt. If not, defeat Romney. If not, I already live on a sailboat. I already lived through a mormon hell, I won’t live in a mormon country.
Honestly? You really think Sarah Palin cares about what Trump said/did? Really? Or that she doesn’t realize the vast divide in their philosophies? Or that she doesn’t realize how NOT genuine the Donald is? Or that Trump’s first consideration is Trump? Because is that’s true then it’s probably a good thing she didn’t run. Frankly I don’t think she’s that gullible or dumb to let Trump influence her that way.

The sad fact is that this election cycle stinks. Rick S. is who I voted for, but I know that it is between Newt and Mitt.
Trump thinks Mitt is the one who will come out on top. God help us.
