Donald Trump endorsed Mitt Romney for president Thursday, saying he's impressed by the Republican candidate's debate prowess and believes he could easily beat President Obama in November.

"Mitt is tough. He's smart. He's sharp. He's not going to allow bad things to continue to happen to this country that we all love," Trump said in Las Vegas, telling the candidate to "go out and get 'em."

The real estate mogul, speaking briefly with reporters before the announcement, said that even though he "never knew" Romney before the race began, he's come to know him in recent months.

"His general attitude and the last two debates were very impressive," Trump said.

He also cited Romney's position on China, calling the former Massachusetts governor

All this endorsement proves is that Romney is the liberal we all think he is. The Donald has always endorsed liberals.

These types with many sophisticated investments, stock interests, etc. will nearly always support the person they believe will win so that they can get the sweet deals and laws they need to make more money. If it later becomes clear that Obama will win then he will endorse him. These were the ones Ayn Rand raged against the most, even more than the basic moochers as I recall from Atlas Shrugged. They don’t care about philosophy or ideology. They just care about the best route to getting to do what they want to do and we now live in an America where that is done by special favors more than according to what is best for the country. Instead of hope and change, it is faux and shame.

"The Donald is nuts."

The problem with Donald has always been that he doesn't have a solid set of core values. He understands business, and what's good for business. He has correctly articulated energy and trade policies as two critical components of an economic plan.

But how conservative he is with regard to fiscal policy is unknown and probably doubtful given his past flirtations with the Clintons.

But worse, Donald doesn't have conservative social values. He builds casinos.

Thus, all of the social negatives of Romney, the false religion, the past support of abortion and gay special rights, the gun control, etc doesn't bother Donald.

And apparently Romney's fiscal policy negatives Obamacare, tax increases, etc don't bother him either.

Does anyone think they are not on the same page.

Protect Goldman Sachs. He knows Newt would change the way things are.

Trump is a moderate. He is not conservative. He supported Obama, didn't he?

This was all about show and one man's ego.

I wonder where those Freepers on here who were passionately backing a Donald Trump presidential candidacy last summer have all gone?

What? FREEPERS were cheering that he was going to endorse Newt and calling him a great conservative. I wonder if the FREEPERS will change their tone now. See I can’t stand Trump. Never could and knew he was a fraud. Had a lot of blast for saying such things but as usual I am right. Eggs are available.....

Shall we all bow before the superior intellect?

Remember that pride goeth before the fall.

THAT was just a cover to see how many Romneybots would start calling The Donald names for not bowing down to Mitt. REALLY Now REALLY... how it that Trump was ever a conservative?

Is the GOP REALLY going to nominate a Massachusetts liberal? Still can’t believe it.

Are conservatives in the media and on the talk radio going to tell us voting for a Massachusetts liberal will advance conservatism? Apparently.

As James Traficant used to say, "Beam me up Scotty."

No, Newt’s camp did not release the rumor! Most likely, Romney’s camp did! That seems to be how they operate.

Thanks - I needed that;)

I’m thinking that during his conversations with Newt - Newt stood firm on issues so Trump felt stupid and his ego couldn’t take it.

OTOH - In his conversations with Romney - flip flopper Mitt agreed with Trump on everything and it made Donald feel good.
