Suggestion to Gingrich, Santorum, Perry and respective supporters
RealClearPolitics Republican presidential primary polls | Jan 17, 2012 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 01/17/2012 3:32:52 PM PST by Jim Robinson

RealClear Republican Presidential Polls as of January 17:

South Carolina, Monmouth University: Romney 33, Gingrich 22, Paul 12, Santorum 14, Perry 6

South Carolina, Rasmussen Reports: Romney 35, Gingrich 21, Paul 16, Santorum 16, Perry 5

Florida, PPP (D): Romney 41, Gingrich 26, Santorum 11, Paul 10, Perry 4

Florida, Sunshine State News/VSS: Romney 46, Gingrich 20, Santorum 12, Paul 9, Perry 3

Nationwide ABC News/Wash Post Romney 36, Gingrich 16, Santorum 13, Paul 16, Perry 9

Nationwide Gallup Tracking: Romney 34, Gingrich 15, Santorum 15, Paul 12, Perry 6

Like it or not, the trend has been clear for weeks. If we wish a conservative to be our nominee, Perry should drop out of the race and we should coalesce around Gingrich or Santorum. As long as all three or even two of the three remain in the race the conservative vote will be split and RINO Romney will get the nomination.

Gingrich should challenge Santorum to a series of Lincoln-Douglas style one-on-one debates and if there is a clear winner, then the loser should drop out, or in the very least, we may be able to better decide which one is better suited to take on Romney and Obama.

May our very best conservative take on and defeat Romney/Paul and then wipe out Obama!!

Santorum is young, he’d be wise to accept a VP slot under Gingrich. They’re both likely to lose if they don’t come together.

You win the Grand Prize.

I heard Santorum today, responding to Newt’s comment that he “would be delighted if Santorum dropped out”. Santorum wasn’t sounding like a VP for anybody, especially Newt. I think there would have to be some significant “bridge-building” for this to happen.

Unless Romney takes Paul as VP, I really doubt the Paulbots will support Romney. They'll stay home or vote third party.

Sadly, I agree. I had hoped that Perry would eventually get some traction, as I think he would actually make the best President of the bunch. But that isn’t happening.

Santorum lacks the gravitas to be either the President or a successful candidate.

At this stage, both are only spoilers and need to make way for the only reasonably conservative candidate who can sideline Romney and go on to beat Obama - and that is Newt Gingrich.

The sooner this happens, the better.

As for Ron Paul? We know he won’t drop out, but we need to listen to his message of strong fiscal constitutionalism. He’s my choice to head the Fed during its period of transition to non-existence.

Finally, we will need to focus a lot of attention on the Congress, especially the Senate, to ensure that we have a legislative body that can keep a President Gingrich “properly aligned”, if you catch my drift.

We don’t want to create a situation where a President Gingrich feels the need to “reach across the aisle”.

I think it’s horrible that SC is supposedly the end of the world. History is just that, things that happened in THE PAST!! The future doesn’t have to mirror the past. If these candidates have money and organization to go on, they should go on and fight it out to the end. There’s a lot of things that are different these days, Internet & 24-hour news influencce being two of them. The race can turn on a dime and unless our guys stop buying into this SC wins all, it is hopeless.

I personally have criteria to select my candidate. I won’t pick my candidate because they’re the “most electable” either way.

It should be clear at this point that the best candidate to go up against Mitt, and then Obama, is NEWT. I do hope Santorum supporters realize this and vote for Newt. Should Romney or Obmama win the general election, all the social policies they hold dear are down the drain.

Supporters need to contact Santorum and tell him to drop out and support Newt.

Well, since Newt is not in strong second you are probably right.
Not sure why he is not but he is not.
I was hoping the Rick voters in SC would make a stategic move and vote for Gingrich even if they wouldn’t vote for him for President in order to take out Romneycrat.
Otherwise,Newt should challenge Willard to a duel.

Romney will be child's play for 0bama and he, no doubt, is looking forward to a Romney nomination.

Not to mention , no matter wins between Romney and Obama, the banks and Wall Street will still be in charge.

Rick Santorum, warts and all,is the consistent conservative.
He has made a few votes he wishes he had back but he has not wavered in his conservative principles not once.
He does not say the socialist FDR was the greatest president of the 20th Century nor does he call himself a “Wilsonian” after the most dangerous socialist president we have ever had up til the one we have now. He doesn't claim to be a “progressive” a cute word for Leftist nor does he claim that the era of Reagan is over. In addition Rick Santorum has solid Christian Conservative bona fides that have ALWAYS been there and not “conveniently” adopted Mitt Romneylike in time for a political campaign.
Finally, a pro-life pro-heterosexual pro family pro military pro America fanatic like Santorum scares the bejeesus out of the Left and I want to see their wicked gourds explode.
I'm voting for the consistent conservative Rick Santorum on Saturday. When dealing with the evil Left I want a dog that bites instead of one that just barks even if he is a darn good barker.

I’d be less likely to vote for a Gingrich/Santorum ticket than one featuring Gingrich/Almost Anyone Else.

And there are a LOT of “almost anyone elses” out there who would be great, including most notably Paul Ryan - or Marco Rubio, or Pat Toomey, or Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, just to name three. There are many more.

Sooo whats different about this then the establishment plan to disenfranchise most of the republican primary voters in the country. This may come as a surprise but there are actualy 50 states that have caucuses or primaries. Letting 2 or 3 states pick the nominee worked real good last year didn’t it..

let them fight it out

Amen Brother ! I hope Gingrich hasn't forgotten how well the Contract With Amercian went over with Amercians. He told us what to expect and kept his word. He's not perfect, but that he got dead right !

Gingrich, covenant with us about your first 90 days, include Santorum, Perry and Paul somehow and we'll put you in the white house !

Gingrich / Santorum's 2012 Covenant with America:

1. Full Repeal of Obamacare.

2. Firing of all Obama "Czars".

3. Prosecution of John Corzine...Etc

Rubio would be a good VP pick...

He may be, but I prefer him right where he is. A senator from my state who is giving the Democrats and GOP Elitist in the Senate a real hard time. I don't think we've got anybody here that can fill those shoes right now.

I hate to say it, but in the primary system is where French style elections would be beneficial.

You need to get the majority, not plurality, to win.

So you drop the weakest, or weakest 2, until that occurs.

That forces the united situation, while allowing all candidates to not lose face and “drop out”.

Romney is Obama with hair, and Paul is a jewhating loonytune. Something has to break up this fascist backwater, and pushing Gingrich, Santorum or Perry to the top may be the way to do it.

Actually, Gingrich and Santorum have already had one debate mano-a-mano. Not very many know about it, because the media didn’t cover it. What a shocker, eh?

It happened December 10 at the Granite State Patriots Liberty PAC candidate forum in New Hampshire. Hosted by the Granite State Patriots Liberty PAC, it was a pretty good debate, and the focus was on the Constitution. Here’s the links to the videos:

Jim, what is missing in the above polls is the poll that really counts.

The True committed delegates selected to the 2012 GOP National Nominating Convention.

And in that field, the leading conservative to date as of Tuesday night is none-other than, Senator Rick Santorum.

In fact, what are we to say if in the next 24 hours, the results are revised and he ends up being the certified winner of the Iowa caucuses?

I think vote totals, and delegate totals, should trump all polls. The vote and delegate tolls more truly indicate what the people want, the polls often reflect what the MSM, bandwagoning some candidates and ignorning others, want the people to think. My two cents at least.

At the end of the day, I could "settle" in the General and vote for either Santorum, Gingrich or Perry. I would be a "no show" if either Romney or Paul headed the ticket. It would take 4 bottles of Jack Daniels to vote for Ron Paul and I would be delirious. And it would take 8 bottles of Jack Daniels to vote for Willard Romney, and I would be in toxic shock and comatose by then. ;-) Your mileage might vary, but I respect your post, and FR as always.

Very best respect and appreciation from Asia,

AiT -- 有り難うございました!
