The crowds were never in “support” of the US, they have been tweeting and facebook messaging for weeks telling the US and Israel that “they will see the new face” of the ME when Mubarak is gone.

el Baradei better be careful, people have a habit of having accidents in Egypt.

Dictators backed into a corner are not nasty endings...scorched earth policy comes to mind and Mubarak is NOT going to go quietly i feel.

” The leader of a long-outlawed Tunisian Islamist party was welcomed at the airport by thousands of cheering supporters on Sunday as he returned to his homeland after more than two decades in exile. “

Did anybody else flash-back to Teheran, 1979, when you read this sentence??

Mubarak has a very big problem however.

The Egyptian Military is split. He cannot rely on them to carry out any action against the protest. They will certainly not destroy their own country either. Most of them side with ElBaradei.

Mubarak is meeting with what is left of his Military as we speak. Stand by for the outcome shortly. It's on FOX.

Since I working and living in Iran at time, I certainly do remember.

I wonder when the shooting starts and the tanks start rolling over the people, or whether it turns into a kind of festival atmosphere with the military on the side of the people and then the tanks going to the Presidential office. One wonders if there is a split between the military and the Interior Ministry over this whole thing. Will be interesting. I personally think it is a kind of one big Cloward Plivens “CF” taking place, out of order, nasty elements come in and take power. 1917 comes to mind. El-Baradei could just be a useful puppet at this point, brought in for a purpose and then just convenient disregarded by more radical elements, just licking their cops in the corner. I doubt that even El-Baradei is even representative of the crowd nor will he emerge as a defacto leader; plenty of young people dont necessarily put their support behind him, either. What a MESS.

Oh, yes.

The US adminstration is now wondering whether to support Mubarak or whether to get on “the right side of history”. For all those hoping for democracy in the Islam world remember Teheran in 1979, Gaza in 2004 - 2006, and the ongoing events in Beirut. The Iranian Mullahs, Hamas and Hezbollah really should make the choice pretty simple. The outcome of giving “peacenik” El Baradei the power, will be Egypt ruled by the Muslim Brotherhood.

Of course it is, its by the backdoor method.

Erdogan made a public comment many years ago in Turkey when he said “Democracy is a train you use until you want to get off”

Watch this space, get control, then seize control.

“US set to evacuate citizens from Egypt”

30/01 12:43 CET

“The United States on Sunday said it will evacuate any of its citizens who want to leave Egypt.

In a statement on its website, the US embassy in Cairo said flights would depart from various locations across the country on Monday.

The specially-chartered planes would then transport Americans to Europe.”

The offer to leave Egypt is most likely for non-essential personnel (family members. All others have to stay.

Obama must understand that the people have woken up
Jihadwatch ^ | 1-30-11

Jordan’s Muslim Brotherhood leader: “Obama must understand that the people have woken up and are ready to unseat the tyrant leaders who remained in power because of U.S. backing”

Hammam Saeed, like Sheikh Qaradawi and others, apparently believes that if the people in Arab Muslim countries express their general will, Sharia states — which the Brotherhood is dedicated to establishing — will result.

“Jordan’s opposition: Arabs will topple tyrants,” by Jamal Halaby for AP, January 29:

AMMAN, Jordan (AP) - The leader of Jordan’s powerful Muslim Brotherhood warned Saturday that unrest in Egypt will spread across the Mideast and Arabs will topple leaders allied with the United States. Hammam Saeed’s comments were made at a protest outside the Egyptian Embassy in Amman, inspired by massive rallies in neighboring Egypt demanding the downfall of the country’s longtime president, Hosni Mubarak.

About 100 members of the fundamentalist group and activists from other leftist organizations and trade unions chanted “Mubarak, step down” and “the decision is made, the people’s revolt will remain.” [...]

“The Americans and (President Barack) Obama must be losing sleep over the popular revolt in Egypt,” he said. “Now, Obama must understand that the people have woken up and are ready to unseat the tyrant leaders who remained in power because of U.S. backing.”

Saeed did not specifically name King Abdullah. But he said Jordan’s prime minister “must draw lessons from Tunisia and Egypt and must swiftly implement political reforms.”

“We tell the Americans ‘enough is enough’,” he said....

He (El-Baradei) is now making his way to the center of the Tahrir square in Cairo, slowly but sure, cannot tell if he has a bullet proof vest or not on, looks like he is hemmed in by tons of people. Looks rather claustrophic, like a Cambodian water festival with 1000 trying to cross a bridge all at the same time. I guess they just give him a portable mic in the middle of all of it and he makes his statement. Looks like seasoned type people around him rathe than average *youth*s....(BBC/Arabiya)

Yes, the “peaceful” youth who just want democracy are welcoming Muslim Brotherhood Mohamed ElBaradei into the square, he is speaking to them now.

God help the US and Israel.

El-Baradei just spoke at the Tahir sq. The security forces stayed passive. Only parts of the speech have been released to news agencies.

“What we have started will not be stopped” and “Change can only come from within Egypt”, and “A new era has started in Egypt” are the few lines published by Reuters and others.
