Poor census response feared

A decennial tradition that dates back 220 years to the days of George Washington continues today when federal census forms start arriving at more than 120 million households across the United States.

But hanging over this 23rd U.S. census are concerns about a decline in participation.

While the U.S. census has always evoked some resentment toward the feds for poking their nose into people's business, there's a sense that America's distrust of the government has reached greater heights and could contribute to poor census returns.

Oddly enough, since I put that sign on the front of the house years ago, nobody but UPS, FedEX and the mail carrier EVER come in the yard.

One guy from DHL sat out in the driveway and blew his horn like crazy until I came out and gave him permission to deliver my package but that's pretty much it.

During the last census, the bimbo they sent to "enumerate" me came back repeatedly but she *never* opened the gate and contented herself with screaming her questions from the lane while I sat on my porch...not answering.

When I finally told her I was an high level office worker in the 1980 census and knew what she could and couldn't do, she went away and never came back.

You didn’t see the “long form” in 2000, did you?

If I recall correctly, it was on the order of 40 pages long and had over 200 questions.

I answered THE only Constitutional question - Who lived here. Sent it back.

The wonderful workers came twice. I showed them the Constitution. There was a threat that “supervisor” will come talk to me. I noted that I would still have the Constitution to show.

Your saying that the census has always asked the same mundane questions is inaccurate.
