Obama Bows Again: The president snubs the Dalai Lama to appease China
The Washington Times ^ | October 6, 2009 | Editorial

Posted on 10/05/2009 9:14:40 PM PDT by Abakumov

The last time the Dalai Lama visited Washington, President George W. Bush presented the exiled Tibetan leader with the Congressional Gold Medal at a ceremony on Capitol Hill. Now the Dalai Lama cannot even get a private meeting with President Obama. The only winner in this rebuff is communist China.

Is appeasement something new to Emperor Obama? Not at all. Russia, Iran, China all are beneficiaries of his weaknesses. Disgusting.

China owns almost $1 trillion of our debt. China is the biggest creditor nation and we are the world's biggest debtor nation. When China talks, we listen. If they stop buying our debt or start cashing in their T-bills, they could cause economic chaos in this country.

We had better get used to it. We are kowtowing with our begging bowl. Tibet is no longer an issue.

Tibet is no longer an issue.

And the only positive thing about it is the fun to be had watching the Left attempt to turn and twist this snub into a POSITIVE for dear leader.

Obama can't even stand by a smiling, new-agey, kum-bay-yah, beloved by lefties, peace&luvnik like the Dalai Lama.

I mean, seriously... There are thousands upon thousands of lefties out there for whom acknowledging and adamantly rejecting the “rape of Tibet” is the ONLY exception they make to appeasing leftist thugs and tyrants. Yet now we find that Obama can't manage even that ONE exceptionally exceptional, all but universally accepted, exception to universal appeasement.

This is the diplomatic equivalent to drop kicking a puppy. It's as close as you could possibly get to a conclusive test case indicating that there is NO global “bad actor” Obama will not appease.

I remember going to DC in 8th grade, and some nut was out front the white house criticizing Clinton for meeting with the Dalai Lama. He wore a sign that said the Dalai Lama was responsible for thousands of murders, and that he ate out of kids skulls and other off the wall stuff. He kept flailing his arms and chanting “HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!”

So sad. No wonder they don’t want to trust us with the world’s currency standard. Blast those that did this to us.

If the president will not support the Tibetan cause when it is easy to do, he cannot be counted on to make difficult choices when times are tough.
So far, every time Mr. Obama has a chance to stand for something on the world stage, he bows instead.

You know, I think the American people are starting to recognize this behavior for what it is - fundamental weakness of character and a serious lack of spine. You'd think with the latest plot uncovered to blow up NYC again, that Zero would get a clue that repeated choruses of Kum-bay-ya do not appease. Can we assume that his behavior is a reflection of the (serious lack of)educational legacy provided by Harvard and Columbia?

A teacher in New York asked her 6th grade class how many of them were Obama fans.

Not really knowing what an Obama fan was, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their hands except for Little Johnny.

The teacher asked Little Johnny why he decided to be Different... again.

Little Johnny said, ‘Because I’m not an Obama fan.’

The teacher said, ‘Why aren’t you an Obama fan?’

Johnny said, ‘Because I’m a Republican.’

The teacher asked why he’s a Republican. Little Johnny answered, ‘Well, My Mom’s a Republican and my Dad’s a Republican, so I’m a Republican.’

The teacher asks, ‘If your Mom was a moron and your Dad was an idiot, what would that make you?’

With a big smile, Little Johnny replied, ‘That Would make me an Obama fan.’

He is only concerned about making America a socialist country. All of this other “stuff” is a distraction.

Little Johnny is a young man that got his ass whooped on the playground and his butt beat by his parents but by God he’s right.

Last I checked China was still busy cranking out cheap junk to sell to us, albeit at a slower rate than during most of the Bush years. China would not want that to stop either. As a result, I would say that we and China will be locked in this crazy dance well into the foreseeable future.

Yep, the sorry state that this nation is in is due to a failure of political leadership. It is much easier for the political class to say yes to things we can't afford. And the public is also at fault for not being informed and penalizing politicians who tell the truth.

Cheap junk? I have been to China. Most of the world's major corporations have huge operations there because of the cheap labor and lack of regulations on such things as the environment.

We are the losers in this "crazy dance," because our wealth is flowing into the Chinese coffers. Pretty soon our consumers will not have the money to buy their goods. This country is headed for a huge fiscal train wreck within a decade. Our entitlement systems are bankrupting us. We are living way beyond our means.
