Here is what Wayne Allyn Root stands for: * Fiscal Conservatism * Limited Government * States' Rights * Root will sign a pledge to NOT raise tax rates - PERIOD! * Root supports drastically reduced & federal taxes * He supports the elimination of death taxes * He supports dramatically reducing government spending * Root supports cutting, shrinking, and /or streamlining entire departments of the federal government - departments based on the Constitution are not under federal jurisdiction. * Root supports dramatically reducing corporate welfare * He supports the hiring of fewer Government bureaucrats * He supports ROOTING out government waste * Root supports Social Security reform that creates ownership for senior citizens * He also believes in CHOICE as it applies to Social Security * Root supports a balanced budget * Root loves the smell of vetoes in the morning! * He supports the line Item Veto * He supports Lawyer Abuse Reform * Root is a supporter of an immediate end to Affirmative Action * Root believes in a free market economy * He believes in workplace freedom * Root believes in freedom and parental choice in the educational system * Root would like to see the total elimination of the Department of Education on the federal level * Root stands strongly against a nationalized health care and believes in a free market health care system * He supports overturning McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform as it's a violation of our First Amendment rights to free speech * Root does however support campaign reform in the form of mandatory term limits for all elected officials * He supports voting ballots in English only * Root believes in the rights of citizens to bear arms * Root would like to institute total transparency and accountability in government meaning no more secrecy or cover-ups, drastically reduced foreign aid, greater oversight of government spending and Pentagon spending, and greater accountability and transparency at the United Nations * Root would like to "end the nanny state" with more freedom, liberty, & rights for individuals * End warrantless wiretaps immediately * Oppose eminent domain by the government * End the pointless prosecution of victimless crimes & the war on drugs * Root supports internet freedom meaning the legalization, regulation, & taxation of Online Gaming such as online poker * He will protect the rights and freedoms of American citizens to decide end of life issues * He opposes censorship and federal interference in the entertainment business * Root opposes a national ID card for Americans * Root is tolerant of social issues such as abortion (with limitations), gay rights and civil unions, stem cell research, the separation of church and state, environmental moderation, and is opposed to Yucca Mountain nuclear waste dump * Root is strong on national defense and the war on terror and supports our troops, believes in securing our borders, making it easier for legal immigrants, opposes public funding and entitlements for illegal aliens, but supports providing a "path to citizenship" * On the war in Iraq Root says it's a complicated issue. Root believes the answer must involve a combination of nuance, compromise, and common sense. Root in fact believes that we should show our true colors and request the Iraqi people to vote on America's role in Iraq. If the Iraqi people vote for U.S. troops to stay, we should still make plans to get out of Iraq as soon as possible but we should at all times put pressure on the Iraqi government to achieve certain benchmarks. Root believes that there are some important questions that need to be investigated and answered such as: * Why isn't the war being funded as promised by President Bush by Iraqi oil? * Why aren't Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, and other moderate Arab countries paying thier fair share for the Iraq war?
