WASHINGTON – A bill approved by the House of Representatives and referred to the Senate would prohibit federal employees of executive branch from being compelled to release any document unless a court makes a specified determination by a preponderance of evidence – legislation at least one group suspects is designed to protect Barack Obama's elusive birth certificate from release.
The legislation, HR 985, resides in the Senate Judiciary Committee.

I used to think that Obama was probably born in HI and that there really wasn't much of anything to all this BC noise. I assumed that his BC said something else that would have been tough to explain during the campaign, like "Muslim" was his religion, or "White" was his race or even "Obama" wasn't his real last name.
But, this is really, really bizarre. I'm starting to lean towards the birthers on this and I am curious why no one, especially right-wing talkers, aren't discussing this at all.
The reason the right wing talking heads are not talking about this is simple.
Nothing can be proved right now.
It is that simple, if there was some sort of proof, like say for instance the original Vault Copy of the Birth certificate, in their hands and it was as damning as we all know it must be. They’d nail Obama with it.
Until that happens they are biding their time,and secretly hoping they get to be the one that is first with the news.

I never looked into it all and can’t even remember why I saved it. I know I saw obama’s mortgage papers online and they were in Rezko’s lawyers name. This is WND doing what it always does, which is to take a portion of a document or story, and distort it to cause instant chagrin, and hype its readers into apoplexy. It is a deliberate lie.
This sentence has what is actually said in the bill exactly backwards, and anyone would do him/herself a favor by NOT using, or counting on, WND as a reliable source for information.
This bill is to protect NON federal entities from being compelled by Federal entities to reveal that which is private. And if you would read read it to completion, it protects communications between private citizens, networks, and communications companies as well.
It is protection FROM federal government, not FOR it.

I would like to think you are right. I pray you are. But with all the lawsuits and stonewalling obama has done, you don’t think they could question his secrecy? Obama, let me ask you about all these lawsuits? Is there a reason you refuse to show your vault copy? What if before obama is interviewed he tells them it is off limits? Remember on the VIEW it came out Michelle had a list of off limit questions.
In obama’s latest FEC filings he is using campaign money for these lawsuits. I wonder if the good people of America who donated to obama wanted their money to help him usurp the office of POTUS! I am sure the power elite evil would not care.
From what I have researched, read over and over, the media is owned by liberals who have wanted power for so long that I believe the reporters must help obama along and discredit naysayers. I believe they have been promised future gains, not in a evil way, but similar to, look this is our guy, we want him to succeed. We will promote you and make sure your position is stable with us for as long as you want. But we need your help. I saw a email basically saying lay off obama from one of the network heads. he then tried to say it was taken out of context. No it wasn’t. There was no memo saying lay off Palin either.
Realize that these people, media reporters, are set in their lives. They have made so much money they will never be in the position of let’s say, the big 3 with all the lay offs. They feel government should pay for those who have nothing. To make everyone equal. Most reporters are liberals and thank the Lord for those who are not. They have accountants who know how to keep their taxes low. The ones who have asked for their help are the power elite who own the media is my belief. GE, MSNBC, NBC all part of the same company. Obama has thrown, stimulus, tarp, omnibus and 2010 3 plus trillion budget to GE. If you noticed MSNBC has the worst of the worst talking heads and some would say they were part of obama’s election campaign almost. Warren Buffet bought shares in GE at its lowest. He said it was a good company and he wanted to invest. What he really knew was what was coming. Obama was going to support every product they had by giving taxpayer money to GE. Windmill turbines, light bulbs, GE health registry that obama put Daschle in charge of. All in the name of clean energy and health reform.
Look at for instance newspapers. McClatchy owns a ton of newspaper from all over. They are for the most part liberal minded. I saw the tea parties in one of them and was in shock.
Citibank, citigroup, as they donate millions to LaRaza we are bailing them out. Also partially owned by a Saudi Prince who thinks America deserved 9/11. Now, Nation of Islam in the ‘60s had a splinter group Saudi Arabia of New York. Coincidence? Maybe but if there is one thing I learned from a couple of years in hospital, medical research, there are very few coincidences.
I want to believe what you feel but everything points to a more evil plot that has been planned for years. Unless the GOP gets someone out there with huevos, obama’s plans will go forward. They need to stand up and when obama calls them racist they need to call him on it. Obama is not for African Americans.

It looks like this bill is designed to cover journalists from having to divulge their sources. Where in the bill did you find it is protecting Obama from having to show his birth certificate?

When I need a birth certificate of someone living even if they are related I have to have them sign for it. My own son had to sign off for BC he needed. I am in California.
Besides obama can just say no one gets it, he can seal it or maybe it is sealed as a adoption BC would be. His original would have amendments on it if any adoption was recorded.

I agree with you on the fact that this original posting was incorrect in stating the purpose of this bill, H.R.985. Why would FreeRepublic allow it to be tacked on to the “Front Page News?”
To me, there is enough true facts out there supporting the argument that Obama should legally have to show his birth certificate to remain in Office. There’s no reason to have to invent this kind of agitation by reporting an untrue story in their headlines.
Whether the story is true or false, Obama needs to provide his original birth certificate to prove that he’s eligible to serve as President. The courts must REQUIRE that he do so.
Note that Obama is spending an enormous amount of legal fees in keeping his original birth certificate hidden.
I agree with you that he needs to show his birth certificate and that all the money he has spent in legal fees to block doing so spells out that he has something to hide.
However, when someone quotes this story that the government is trying to pass legislation to protect Obama, and it is a false story, it seems to weaken the case of the “Birthers” as to their own facts. I would just like to see the facts come out and not some wild stories.
