Newsweek fails.
I say,
HIP,HIP, Hooray, and good riddance to bad rubbish.
I hope the nazi government run schools fail also, they are worthless socialist institutions of misinformation and indoctrination of mush minded children. When they fall, I will shout,
HIP, Hip, Hooray, good riddance to bad rubbish!
The fool says in his heart, there is no God. And God brings them down to hell.

Newsweek's strategy in the midst of all its financial decline is to double and triple the amount of editorializing, cast aside all semblance of "news" in favor of long, liberal essays by self-impressed Newsweek editor Jon Meacham and his international editor Fareed Zakaria. Is that really a business solution, or is it the captains performing violin solos on the deck of the Titanic? No, it is more like taking the wheel of the Titanic and saying "that was fun -- let's find another and run into it, too!"

Any public official who stands up and proclaims America is a Christian nation is immediately berated and beat down by the lunatic left press. Yet they all take delight in announcing the end of “Christian America.” Is it any wonder the media as we know it is dying faster than weeds after a frost? Good riddance.

We Christians have lasted for 2000 years and we are more powerful now than ever before. America is a Judeo-Christian country and no amount of left wing lies and delusions is going to change this most important fact.
On the other hand every type of left wing ideology has failed very badly through out history including the most left wing ideology of all which is the evil called communism.
I am very happy that Newsweek is finished as well as many other left wing newspapers and publications. All what we have to do now is to finish the left wing TV news by boycotting them.

Recently, I saw an article about the demise of daily papers in 1918. I saw an article about failing papers in the thirties as well a few weeks ago. I am wondering if someone with more historical perspective and knowledge could tell me if there is some relationship to the eras of depression following the collapse of specific news publications.
I guess my question, more succinctly is, does the financial situation of news publication cause a greater impact on the economy than other failing companies?
It seems reasonable to me that the “sky is falling” attitude of news publications such as Newspeak, triggers a greater pessimism in the economy than a gizmo factory because they have a soap box and a more clouded view of the world based on their own failure.

“News”week is a sham of a sham. The sooner they cease publication the sooner I can find another worthy so-called news publication to line my birdcage with.

I have noticed with Newsweek and daily rags like the NY TIMES the more they swing to the left the more the subscriptions decline yet they keep swinging that way in the hopes of saving their company or is it more a slow self inflicted suicide by ink?

The American Religious Identification Survey that Newsweek touted -- from Trinity College in Connecticut -- estimated there are now 173.4 million self-identified Christians in America, up from 151.2 million in 1990. The percentage declined, but the actual number increased. Our church has never been so filled during our Easter 2nd service as it was this Sunday. And judging by the turnout at Easter breakfast, which occurs between the sunrise and 2nd services, the first service was also packed. Difficult times help people seek answers...

I haven’t subscribed to any news magazine for many years. I grew up in a “Time” household and I subscribed briefly to that one. Then I tried Newsweek for a year and got seriously turned off by their “body of the week” featuring a grotesque, disrespectful photo of a corpse in every issue (I think it was in the eighties). I also tried U.S. News and World Report, again without much satisfaction. Haven’t missed them. I occasionally see the magazines while visiting my folks or in waiting rooms. Neither I nor the magazines have weathered the passing years well. Good riddance.

Newsweek editor Jon Meacham welcomed the alleged decline and fall of "the modern religious right's notion of a Christian America" because it creates a "calmer" political environment and a more "theologically serious religious life." I would like to read Mr. Meacham's essay on how athiests create a calmer political environment using Joseph Stalin and Mao Tse Tung as examples.

You're a little late with your hopes.
The public school system has already failed.
We have a very high rate of public school dropouts. We have a very high rate of "graduates" who are illiterate. We have a very high rate of dropouts and graduates who can't do the basic math to get a decent job. We have a much higher rate of students and graduates and dropouts who don't know understand economics and the politics which affects their daily lives.
And guess what? That is precisely what the liberals wanted. A population which is highly ignorant and uneducated tends to vote for liberals and socialists. Those voters don't know any better and are either incapable of understanding or don't cared to understand the consequences of their votes.
So, according to you and me, the school system has failed.
But, according to the liberal leadership, that failure of the school system is a major success for their side. They've gotten what they wanted and they now control the country. The school system produced according to their goals and agenda.
