U.S. moves to strip alleged Nazi's citizenship

The U.S. Justice Department has asked a Seattle federal court to revoke the citizenship of a Washington state resident accused of serving the Nazis.

Tuesday's complaint alleges that Yugoslavian-born Peter Egner, 86, in April 1941 joined the Nazi-controlled Security Police and Security Service in German-occupied Belgrade, Serbia, a Nazi mobile killing unit that participated in the mass murder of more than 17,000 Serbian civilians during World War II.

According to the complaint, Egner has admitted volunteering to serve in the Security Police and Security Service and guarding prisoners as they were being transferred to concentration camps. Egner also admitted serving as an interpreter during interrogations of political prisoners, which sometimes involved severe torture. Prisoners often were executed following their interrogations.

Egner came to the United States in 1960 and became a citizen six years later. The Justice Department asserts that his citizenship should be revoked because he concealed his Nazi service when applying for citizenship.

"The government alleges that Peter Egner served in a notorious Nazi unit that murdered thousands of Serbian Jews and other unarmed civilians," said Office of Special Investigations Director Eli Rosenbaum. "No one who particpated, as we allege the defendant did, in the diabolical Nazi program of persecution is entitled to retain U.S. citizenship.

You’re mixing up your argument. Are you using the Serbian argument that the invasion of Yugoslavia stalled Barbarossa by a key few weeks or are you using the communist argument that Tito tied down 36 divisions during 41-44?

"You’re mixing up your argument."

I am not "mixing up" anything, Dio. You are trying to drag a red herring into this argument by turning events into a set of ethnic and political "views", and therefore up for grabs by anyone.

Ask military historians which arguments ("communist" or "Serbian") that they are using to come up with the reasons for Barbarossa's failure?. And the answer would be "neither". Because they all agree that Serb & Greek resistance helped delay Operation Barbarossa which ultimately resulted in its collapse and lost Hitler the war. The only disagreement between them seems to be whether or not it was just "an important factor" or "the totally decisive one" -- much to your chagrin, I am sure.

What "resistance"? The Yugoslav Army didn't put up a fight and signed an armistice on the 17th of April. Are you referring to the German drive into the Balkans as delaying Barbarossa? A delay? Certainly...and a costly one. But this "resistance" that you speak of (if you're referring to the Chetniks and/or Partisans) had no effect on Barbarossa since all the important units were already driving into Russia and the Germans left only a skeletal force in the Balkans.

"What "resistance"?"

And the voice from the peanut gallery has been duly noted. Now go argue with them, not with me.

I don’t understand the Nazi supporters who say he shouldn’t be prosecuted. And I don’t want to understand them.

Thanks Tailgunner. I like the quote from the father. It’s just picking on a poor 260 pound Serb for kicking in the skull of a guy half his size.

Nothing more.

“Serbia have not recieved as much as police file.”

Yes, the poor Serbian government can do nothing but hold their hands in the air. They’re helpless. (When not issuing an emergency passport to their 260 pound thug citizen to make a getaway from the scene of the crime.)

Get them a wahmbulance.

And, it's just picking on a poor 86 year-old Nazi war criminal who was complicit in the act of committing genocide.

Which is what the original post was about - right?

Nothing more.

My loved ones and I are armed to teeth. We are not afraid of any drooling moronic Serb thug animals. Here in the USA or anywhere else. :)

It seems the link between these cases is not lost upon the administration either. U.S. ambassador to Serbia Cameron Munter raised the subject of the Egner case with relation to the case of the brave Serb patriot Kovacevic. "Serbian honor" is on the line, he said.

It's not a "problem"...but I would question your motivation.

To hell with Kovacevic. Belgrade should extradite him right now. HOWEVER, this article IS NOT about him. This is about a guy who lied about what he did during WWII, and he should also be extradited. It seems that you can’t resist indulging in a case of gratutious Serb-bashing or your obsession with that moron Kopvacevic.

TailgunnerMao:"What can I say, we cling to our guns and Bibles round these parts."

Hilarious

One minute you're applauding an alliance with Al Qaeda linked KLA who torch Christian churches to the ground and then you extol the virtues of holding a Bible.

LOL as some would say.

That's right, punk. We are conservative Christian Americans who support our nation and our troops against you scum-sucking Serbo-nazi vermin. Our brave Christian soldiers will crush you fake Christians if we have to, and in the name of the LORD we serve. You obviously didn't learn the first time we kicked the crap out of you just whose side God's on, so maybe you need another lesson.

Here's a hint. Christianity doesn't mean slaughtering anybody who's not part of your particular church and spreading your religion through the sword the way muslims do. God has judged you unworthy because you are a bloody death cult just like the muslims. Try practicing real Christianity for a change and maybe you won't be the pathetic losers you are.

You know, every time that I try to convince myself that you are a decent, intelligent person who just happens to be mistaken about something, you just step up and prove what a truly nasty, cruel fool without a clue you are. Thanks for that pathetic incoherent rant, as I am not likely to make that same mistake again, now -- nor is anyone.
