The Two Obamas
New York Times ^ | 6/20/08 | David Brooks

Posted on 06/20/2008 2:42:38 AM PDT by MartinaMisc

God, Republicans are saps. They think that they’re running against some academic liberal who wouldn’t wear flag pins on his lapel, whose wife isn’t proud of America and who went to some liberationist church where the pastor damned his own country. They think they’re running against some naïve university-town dreamer, the second coming of Adlai Stevenson.

But as recent weeks have made clear, Barack Obama is the most split-personality politician in the country today. On the one hand, there is Dr. Barack, the high-minded, Niebuhr-quoting speechifier who spent this past winter thrilling the Scarlett Johansson set and feeling the fierce urgency of now. But then on the other side, there’s Fast Eddie Obama, the promise-breaking, tough-minded Chicago pol who’d throw you under the truck for votes.

This guy is the whole Chicago package: an idealistic, lakefront liberal fronting a sharp-elbowed machine operator. He’s the only politician of our lifetime who is underestimated because he’s too intelligent. He speaks so calmly and polysyllabically that people fail to appreciate the Machiavellian ambition inside.

But he’s been giving us an education, for anybody who cares to pay attention. Just try to imagine Mister Rogers playing the agent Ari in “Entourage” and it all falls into place.

Back when he was in the Illinois State Senate, Dr. Barack could have taken positions on politically uncomfortable issues. But Fast Eddie Obama voted “present” nearly 130 times. From time to time, he threw his voting power under the truck.

HAHA, I just fired Kirk Wagar. He was my lawyer for a case & wouldn’t return my phone calls - too busy drumming up $$ for Obamanation.

IF the America is STUPID enough to elect some NEWBIE, NO-NOTHING SOCIALIST, then it's not worth saving or fighting for.

Are you serious? The great leaders in American History have always been out-numbered by the oceans of idiots. It takes great leadership to turn the tide. You are advocating quitting the good fight because it will be difficult to educate people who only hear sound bites from the Obama loving media? What are you doing here? This is no place for the weak.

They might as well go ahead and coronate this guy so we can get the next four years out of the way as soon as possible.

Everybody in the MSM said that BJ Clinton was great at [politics. He was great because he realized that MSM would cover up his lies, and he could tell lies so well. I told people 4 months ago that BO was even slicker than slick Willie. And the MSM is covering for him even more than they did for BJ. BO is like one of those people who stand for “tolerance” but is extremely intolerant of anyone who disagrees with him. He preaches the end of politics, but he is an extremist politician on all of the issues. That is slick.

I think he's a very formidable candidate, but rather than focusing on issues, we FReepers tend to obsess on things like whether or not Obama's birth certificate was photoshopped or not.

Why don't people concentrate on his stands on the issues, his flip-flops, contradictions, etc?

I'd like to see some of us go in to his events and ask some tough questions when he allowed questions from the audience.

“I gotta think Obama schtik is going to wear thing between now and November.”

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

It wore thin long ago with those who are capable of logical thinking! Unfortunately we don’t limit voting to logical thinkers, we allow any and every idiot to vote.

Yes, I am referring to Jack Cshill’s article:

“But Why Was Obama Against the War?”

Than you very much for referring to Its actual title and posting the actual Link to it. The Video included is breathtaking as well with the actual statements by Democrats supporting the Intel on HUSSEIN (SADDAM in this case, not B.O.) and the Invasion of Iraq. A must view for all!
Thank you again and I promise to be more thorough in my postings.

Not much being said about E D Hill losing her show over her “bump fist” comment ~

I'd love to see her reappear as a Fox News analyst on other programs.

Interesting, although he's nothing without a teleprompter, dissolving into incoherence when under fire by the drive-by media -- which he is all-too-infrequently. Thanks neverdem.

A clean politician from Chicago?
Has anyone who ever lived there for a while heard of such a thing?

As my old Italian professor when I was a student there used to point out, ci cago has a certain pungent meaning.
