Study: Humans Almost Went Extinct 70,000 Years Ago

WASHINGTON — Human beings may have had a brush with extinction 70,000 years ago, an extensive genetic study suggests.

The human population at that time was reduced to small isolated groups in Africa, apparently because of drought, according to an analysis released Thursday.

The report notes that a separate study by researchers at Stanford University estimated the number of early humans may have shrunk as low as 2,000 before numbers began to expand again in the early Stone Age.

No, the flood was just a bit less than 4,000 years ago. Idiot journalist can't even do simple arithmetic. Must have gone to a NYC public school.

less hair == more likely to die due to exposure to cold or to heat.

That’s why we learned how to make nukes...

Its back to basics after a nuclear war, crawling out of the ashes and all.

I suspect the human race has risen and fallen numerous times, especially once his toys are too big for his britches.

There were no humans 70,000 years ago.

Even by the reckoning of "science" the first humans did not appear until 40,000 years ago with the first homo sapiens sapiens.

"Also about 4,500 years ago because of flooding."

...caused by global warming making the glaciers melt.

Yes, let's not forget the Flintstones and their EEEEVEEEL SUVs.

"This was caused during global warming, version 1.0."

More like 2.0. There were probably two previous ice ages before the last one, beginning at the end of the Cambrian and occurring about every 200,000,000 (that's 200 million, for you "progressive lurkers) years. These were alternated with Global Warming 1.0 and 1.2.

Nowadays, we're probably up to Global Warming SE.

Actually, "by the reckoning of 'science'":
"The 130,000 year-old reconstructed skull shown below at left represents the earliest known example of a modern human being, Homo sapiens sapiens."
The 40K figure is one of several for the alleged explosion out of Africa of the master race which destroyed all remaining competitors.

No, it was Brontoburger-induced flatulence that caused prehistoric climate change.
