Huckabee asks if Mormons believe Jesus, devil are brothers

Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee, an ordained Southern Baptist minister, asks in an upcoming article, "Don't Mormons believe that Jesus and the devil are brothers?"

The article, to be published in Sunday's New York Times Magazine, says Huckabee asked the question after saying he believes Mormonism is a religion but doesn't know much about it. His rival Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, is a member of the Mormon church, which is known officially as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The authoritative Encyclopedia of Mormonism, published in 1992, does not refer to Jesus and Satan as brothers. It speaks of Jesus as the son of God and of Satan as a fallen angel, which is a Biblical account.

A spokeswoman for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints said Huckabee's question is usually raised by those who wish to smear the Mormon faith rather than clarify doctrine.

"We believe, as other Christians believe and as Paul wrote, that God is the father of all," said the spokeswoman, Kim Farah. "That means that all beings were created by God and are his spirit children. Christ, on the other hand, was the only begotten in the flesh and we worship him as the son of God and the savior of mankind. Satan is the exact opposite of who Christ is and what he stands for."

Romney did not respond to a request for comment.

Earlier this month in Iowa, Huckabee wouldn't say whether he thought Mormonism — rival Romney's religion — was a cult.

"I'm just not going to go off into evaluating other people's doctrines and faiths. I think that is absolutely not a role for a president," the former Arkansas governor said.

“God is the father of all and that he calls Jesus Christ His son. If Christ is his son and he is Father of all then that makes him father of Lucifer too. If He is father of both of them ...” Please, for the sake of your eternal destiny, please read John 1:1-4. Jesus IS God in a fleshly body. In terms of sonship, Paul could call himeslf son of Benjamin, or son of Abraham. You, when you become a Christian, can call yourself son of Abraham because sonship in flesh is linked to spirit faith in God, and Jesus exhibited the ultimate faith in the Promises of God in presenting himself for death of the cross for you and for me. To the human mind, to be in the flesh has certain limitations if for no other reason than the creation is less than the Creator of the creation. If I told you that the entire Universe is ‘in God’, how would that effect your relationship to God? Only Jesus IS in God AND IS God. You can be In God but cannot be God. Jesus tried sharing that physics lesson with Philip, recorded in John 14, but Philip didn’t understand it until after the resurrected Lord and God appeared to the disciples. Thomas stated it ‘my Lord and my God’ by the power of the Holy Spiirt uttered.

It’s not propaganda, it is biblical doctrine.
Num. 16: 22 God of the spirits of all flesh.
Deut. 14: 1 Ye are the children of the Lord your God.
Mal. 2: 10 Have we not all one father.
Acts 17: 29 we are the offspring of God.
Rom. 8: 16 Spirit itself beareth witness . . . we are the children of God.
Eph. 4: 6 One God and Father of all.
Heb. 12: 9 ..be in subjection unto the Father of spirits.

These are just a few of the references in the Old and New Testaments that clearly indicate that God is our Heavenly Father. I believe the Bible. I believe the words of these ancient prophets. If you interpret the above differently than I, that is fine. I certainly will not bash you for it, and I would appreciate you not bashing me with a presumption that your interpretation is correct.

“The Godhead is God, Christ and the Holy Ghost, Mormons believe that they just don’t believe they share one body.” ... I ask you, humbly, do you believe God the Father Almighty has a flesh and bone body and that Jesus ALSO has a flesh and bone body?... Then from whence came the flesh and bone body of God the Father Almighty in your paradigm for Godness? How does Mormonism teach God the Father acquired His flesh and bone body?... And your thinking might should take in to consideration that John 1 teaches that ALL things that ARE were created by The Word Who was with God and was God.

It would be easier just to get rid of these two yahoos. That leaves us with Thompson, Julie-Annie and Paul.

I don’t think they’re going to be spouting holier than thou stuff.

No, but it can exist as that form at the same time in a relatively short area and time!

I'll defer to the physics and chemistry experts as to that. In any case, if true, it only exists as a possible analogy, rather than proof of the existence of a trinity, or even of a higher power.

I think the whole thing was settled by the guys with the biggest swords a long time ago, but that's just my skeptical atheist nature coming out.

It is quite impossible NOT to mock Mormonism. Here’s another one, “garmies”.

If you are outlawing mockery, you are outlawing Free Speech.

I agree. It is perfectly legal to be rude, profane, sacrilegious, stupid, and bigoted. Hopefully, people can rise to a higher level and be respectful, understanding, and tolerant.

Thanks for clearing that up........I do believe Huckabee knows his Bible and about other religions. I keep getting hung up on John Smith and his gold tablets and multiple wives.......I didn’t know this about the Morman faith. While it isn’t a deal breaker for me, it is a negative. Romney remains my third choice over Huckabee though. I will be glad when this primary season is over.

Mormons can believe what ever they want to...geez

Is anyone saying they can't believe what they want to? I don't think so.

But let me ask you this: is it somehow wrong to bring their beliefs to light? Or is Huckabee supposed to help the Mormons keep their deep-dark secret beliefs without anyone else finding out about them?

Well, since there is plentouy of evidence that the Mormons do believe that, then why pose it as some sort of gotcha question, why not just state it and point to sources of info? This leads me to believe that Huckee is related to the devil himself.

According to Mormonism, we all are! See, we were all in God’s presence, then we were sent to earth to earn our way back to God’s presence by the door Jesus opened with His death and resurrection ... according to Mormonism.

Let’s see, did he or did the Huck not take money for pardons in Arkansas, that is the BIG question!

Speaking of which, here's another of ole Governor Humpabug's spectacularly poor decisions:

Gov. Huckabee probably never read the confession of a demented killer named Glen Green before he made the monster eligible for parole.

Huckabee apparently listened to Green's minister (and a friend of the governor), who thinks the murder was an accident and Green was forced to confess.

Green, a 22-year-old sergeant, kidnapped Helen Lynette Spencer on Little Rock Air Force Base, where he beat and kicked her as he tried to rape her in a secluded area. She broke loose and ran toward the barracks' parking lot, where he caught up with her and beat her with a pair of nunchucks.

He then stuffed her into the trunk of his car and left her there while he cleaned up. Several hours later, he drove down Graham Road, past Loop Road and stopped near a bridge in Lonoke County. Green told investigators he put her body in the front seat and raped her because her body was still warm.

He dragged Spencer out of his vehicle and put her in front of the car and ran over her several times, going back and forth. He then collected himself long enough to dump her body in Twin Prairie Bayou.

This is what the Rev. Johnny Jackson, interim pastor at Bethel Baptist Church in Jacksonville, calls an accident, and apparently Huckabee believes him.

This is just stunning!

Why should he even care?

He is running for the President of the United States for goodness sakes.

I’ll bet he is suddenly scared of the job now that he is polling well, and he is freaking out, and ready to take a dive!

Romney remains my third choice over Huckabee though. I will be glad when this primary season is over.

While driving home tonight I came to the uncomfortable realization that the only real viable alternative for republicans to Giuliani is Romney.

Huckabee would never win a general election. Thompson seems to have run out of steam. McCain never had any steam. Hunter never had any water and Tancredo never had any hope.

Still I think it is important that the truth come out about what the Mormons believe. We need to go into this election with our eyes wide open and not with our heads buried in the sand. The Mormonism issue is going to be a large issue. My guess is that Hillary is going to have her minions delcare her the choice of Evangelical Christianity as at least she can portray herself as a nominal methodist.

But Romney has both the steam, the stamina and the money to cinch the Republican nomination. Too bad he's a member of a cult.

I remain a Thompson supporter, but unless he pulls a miracle out by January, it is going to be a two man race and he's not going to be a part of it.

Good grief. Can you imagine this moron against someone like Obama? Too clever by half: "I heard some people say that black people are ______. I don't really think so, but that's what I heard.". Nothing worse than a stupid man who thinks he's smart and that he's pulled the wool over people's eyes with his clever maneuvers. Even a twelve-year-old can see through this stupid comment. If he thinks these "clever" tactics make him smart enough to be President, he is sadly mistaken.
