Huckabee asks if Mormons believe Jesus, devil are brothers
AP ^ | December 12, 2007

Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee, an ordained Southern Baptist minister, asks in an upcoming article, "Don't Mormons believe that Jesus and the devil are brothers?"

The article, to be published in Sunday's New York Times Magazine, says Huckabee asked the question after saying he believes Mormonism is a religion but doesn't know much about it. His rival Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, is a member of the Mormon church, which is known officially as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The authoritative Encyclopedia of Mormonism, published in 1992, does not refer to Jesus and Satan as brothers. It speaks of Jesus as the son of God and of Satan as a fallen angel, which is a Biblical account.

A spokeswoman for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints said Huckabee's question is usually raised by those who wish to smear the Mormon faith rather than clarify doctrine.

"We believe, as other Christians believe and as Paul wrote, that God is the father of all," said the spokeswoman, Kim Farah. "That means that all beings were created by God and are his spirit children. Christ, on the other hand, was the only begotten in the flesh and we worship him as the son of God and the savior of mankind. Satan is the exact opposite of who Christ is and what he stands for."

Romney did not respond to a request for comment.

Earlier this month in Iowa, Huckabee wouldn't say whether he thought Mormonism — rival Romney's religion — was a cult.

"I'm just not going to go off into evaluating other people's doctrines and faiths. I think that is absolutely not a role for a president," the former Arkansas governor said.

I’m Anglican and Trinitarian. We have a freind who is a Southern Baptist minister, he was let go from a church after preaching a sermon on the Trinity. The deacons said it wasn;t scriptural, since the word Trinity isn’t in the Bible. I was shocked as I assumed that the mainline churches were all Trinitarian.

PS. We also had a Southern Baptist friend who wasn’t hired
because he preached from the RSV instead of the King James. True stories!

They’re not. Just like Muslims aren’t either, but they always scream “racist” whenever someone says something mildly disconcerting to them (like, “boo”).

It’s a joke, since Mormons wouldn’t stoop to using the “race card”, (most Mormons are white, so they can’t, anyway, according to the rules of PC).

Are we not all God's Children and if so did not Lucifer who sang among The Morning Stars who also the one whoFell from Heaven and now no longer part of Heavenly Father children!

Rom. 8: 16-17 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

It is amazine how the same critics have been shown scripture amd continue this misrepresentation of that quote!

Remeber before Lucifer/Satan fell from heaven he was not origianlly an outcast!

Revealtion 12:7-13
7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,

8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

I agree.. I would have voted for him if was the nominee, but his record and his nannystatism and the fact that he seems to running for the Pastor in Chief not the Commander in Chief..

“He’s running for Preacher-in-Chief, and that’s what none of us want. At least I’m dead sure that a sizable majority of Americans don’t want that. Hillary is going to pull out every Baptist minister stereotype she can during the general election campaign if Huckster becomes our nominee.”

Yes and Bishop Mitt is running as the un-religious/totally religious Enigma.

Both Mitt and Huckleberry have inherent contradictions due to their religious backgrounds that will tear their campaigns apart and make their chance of winning the presidency near impossible. However, in a broken field, they could win the nomination.

But it’s not based on reality.
***Ahh, you miss the analogy being introduced in the movie. Mary Poppins is a believer in Christ and introduces a whole new life of meaning to these kids. Her friend Dick Van Dyke is a christian as well, and it all just seems like... magic.

“Everything is just higgledy-piggledy since that woman came here.”

Or for Giuliani, it has been speculated that Huckabee is a stalking horse for Rudy. If he sinks where does he throw his support?

In fact, Mormon doctrine does teach that Jesus and Satan are brothers.

In the Discourses of Brigham Young, on Pg.53-54 he lets it be known that Lucifer is the second son, the one known as “Son of the Morning.”

“Who will redeem the earth, who will go forth and make the sacrifice for the earth and all things it contains?” The Eldest Son said: “Here am I”; and then he added, “Send me.” But the second one, which was “Lucifer, Son of the Morning,” said, “Lord, here am I, send me, I will redeem every son and daughter of Adam and Eve that lives on the earth, or that ever goes on the earth.”

Hunter - Tancredo - Thompson, in that order are my preferences.

No Mitt, No Rudy, No Paul, No Huck.

THank you for that. Now I can allow myself to imagine that the holy spirit is god’s drinking buddy, when I’m in the mood to do so.

Now, I’d like to address the mormon belief that drinking alcohol is a sin. God created barley, did he not? God created yeast, did he not? If god had not intended us to put the two together, then why did he make yeast to enjoy barley so much and why did he make yeast to pee alcohol when it ate barley? And why did he make us like the yeast pee so much?

Huh? Answer me that! And furthermore, when we drink yeast pee, it makes us pee. It’s all so perfect, isn’t it? In case you haven’t figured it out, I’ve had a wee bit o’ yeast pee myself tonight.

Nice try slimes. He probably asked this question a gazillion years ago. Nobody is going to believe this tripe is significant since he was a minister and had to ask the questions of his parishioners.

The NYTs really really hates all Christians, especially Protestants.

Yep; been there done that. A couple of those judgemental holier than thous almost destroyed my family when they tried to “save” our daughter. Our crime...we were too catholic. We’re not even Roman Catholic, we’re Anglican!

Thank you for posting a few words of Mormon teaching. Romney is at the heart of the cult as his family has been since its beginning. Mormons practice a political theology based on their leader assuming secular leadership of the country. His ascendency to the presidency of the US will complete this phase of their goal to establish their authority over the earth. They have much in common with Muslim practices. Only the techniques are different.
As to the issue of Jesus and Satan, Christianity teaches that God and Christ are one from the beginning. Mormon’s teach that God (they call him Father) is one of many and created both Jesus and Satan through his wives.
Huck is correct to ask the question. Mitt believes that he is in line to be the god of a planet (this one?) just like Jesus, his brother.

Think Huckabee is interested in converting and wants some information?

Seriously, do you think Huckabee wants an answer? I would have said he must already know the official church position, but given recent events maybe he doesn’t.

The relevant question that we need to ask ourseves is..... Are we having fun yet?

I gave up on the fire water years ago, not because of religious reasons but because it made me stupider than I am naturally.

So if you don’t accept the Trinity . . . .

___________________________________________________________

The Holy Trinity as now as now defined by the “Christian” Churches was not known until the 3rd century.

When you look at scripture references about God and Christ being one it refers to being one in purpose. Moses tells us in Genesis that Adam was in the image of God, and that Seth was in the image of Adam. Paul tells us that God and Christ are one, but he also tells us that Christ and His Church are one and continues to say that a married man and woman are one.

When Christ was baptized by John the voice of God was heard from Heaven proclaiming Christ as his son and the Holy Ghost decended upon Jesus at the same time.

When Stephen was being stoned he looked up into heaven and saw Christ and God with Christ at God’s right hand.

The Godhead is God, Christ and the Holy Ghost, Mormons believe that they just don’t believe they share one body.

I believe that your definition of Christian includes Muslims (not sure if they think he arose from the dead).

I don’t know much about LDS, but the Mormons that I have known were all patriotic Americans and social conservatives.
