I just drove by our polling place and it's raining, chilly and the line is out the door. That's a very good sign!
Public school building, East Hartford, CT, early this morning, right after the polls open. Had problems with privacy booths not having either black or blue pens or pencils. Used scan optic voting for the first time.
Grand Haven Michigan I drove around at about 10:00 am, moderate to heavy turnout, strong republican base.
Heavily Republican precinct 603 in NE Albuquerque, with 2400 registered voters only received 150 ballots.
Folks are getting hopping mad over this.
One thing I've noticed was that they had two HUGE paper allots, given all the things we have to vote on. Here in Sacramento, the voter propositions are the hot thing (SMUD annexing Yolo County to be electricity provider, two ballot initiatives for a new sports arena in the former Southern Pacific railyard, and a lot of hot statewide propositions). The ballots are filled out in pen (hooray!!) and then are read by a special locked computer scanner.
drove past a few places and saw Dems with signs yelling "vote for change......" at people going into the polling places.
Your right...I remember reading that about Donofrio. Supposedly he was having fainting spells on the set and they were induced by.........right-wing politics. What a freak. Hahahaha!
We have 8 people in our office right at the moment and of those 8, 5 of us have already voted. 3 I know have voted republican and the other 2 are just post college student types, one said that he voted straight democrat (I'm not sure if he was kidding, but his boss said that he voted straight R so his vote would cancel out Jeremy's - I told Jeremy that I'd send him my increased tax bills if his democrats take over congress!)...

I'm an election Judge and working the polls from 2:00 to close. I'll be sure to add any anecdotes. I voted absentee - straight (R). WOOT!

Upon return home my sister in GA had ?s (via email) about GA ballot, so I called the GA GOP H/Q, and I relayed info to her in time for her to vote (Monreo GA) when she gets off work tonite. She's new to GOP and voting.

Voted at 8:30 am here in Gilbert, Arizona, which is heavily Republican. There was no line so I was in and out of there in 10 minutes. We require voter ID here in AZ, which I was happy to provide.
We use long paper ballots (4 pages this time!) in which we complete the arrow for our vote, and then it immediately gets scanned.
Somehow, on election days, I always feel proud to be a minority woman, naturalized citizen who votes straight Republican, with a Hispanic husband who also votes straight "R." After voting, I always leave with a big smile on my face. It feels so good to vote!
About a week or so ago I mentioned this on another thread but did not know how to reach all of the St Pete / Pinellas FReepers.
To bad everyone can't have our experience. Hubby and I walked into the polling place (Bapt Church) to be greeted by name. Chatted with poll workers for awhile. Voted on computer screen. They had scan codes on every name in the book which we signed and we were given the scan code ticket. After voting we returned the ticket to the poll worker. I asked about the machines and was told that there are 5 ways to keep them honet. A paper record, 5 cards, the scan ticket and a couple of other things I forget. It's great to live in a small town.
