Archaeologists uncover scene of human sacrifice

A gruesome sight has met archaeologists engaged in excavations in central China - an altar devoted to human sacrifice, complete with the remains of an unfortunate victim.

The discovery of the 7,000-year-old cult site, near Hongjiang city in Hunan province, may make it necessary to rewrite history, as it is the earliest human sacrificial site ever found in China.

According to local media, the fact that the sacrificial venue contained the skeleton of a human left no doubt in the archaeologists' minds what its original use had been.

Nearby was a separate sacrificial site for animals, with skeletons and bones of pigs, cattle, deer and tortoises.

Human sacrifice was central to early Chinese religion, as kings and emperors would regularly be buried along with their servants and concubines, who were sometimes killed first.

< pedantry mode=ON > However eerie the site was, it wasn't "gruesome" unless they found 7000-year-old blood there. < /pedantry >

This is obviously not true because, according to the United Nations, all cultures are exactly alike, and we don't have human sacrifices here, or at least haven't had for at least five or six years.

Why don't they just go to the Internet site and watch Al Qaeda behead people with dull rusty knives while they all chant Allah Akbar. Isn't that primitive enough?

Don't have to go back 7000 years.

Strange that they would leave the sacrifice laying around on the altar and then leave the site. The article doesn't say if a natural disaster such as an earthquake occurred to account for the remains being left in situ.

Do yah think maybe this was some kind of medical center?

Why does it always have to be human sacrifice? Perhaps they were modern thinkers and scientists, maybe even organ transplant harvesters.

Oh! Sorry I wandered off - organ harvesting is a form of human sacrifice.

Are you saying that people who are not white did bad things in the past?

There were the ancestors of the Tocharians (definitely white people) of the Takkla-Mahan desert, who they believe sacrificed humans, based on a child who was crying when buried alive with his mom. We should require evidence for this, but that's what the scientists said. Don't mean to go off subject, but these white people invented suture and the silk road, which had up until the finds, been credited to the Chinese (invaders).

To be fair, before Christianity, a number of peoples engaged in human sacrifice. I'd like to thank God for sending Jesus to put an end to this nonesense.

Level of civilization is not measured in the numeric years. Some people are today where we were a couple hundered years ago. We did these things too. Prayers for proseperity and freedom for these backward nations.

They developed writing in China for divination and a lot of the earliest Chinese writing consists of questions about sacrificing both animals and humans. So I'm not really sure why this would surprise anyone. The Shang were like the Aztecs of the Chinese Bronze Age.

...maybe even organ transplant harvesters.

If involuntary organ harvesting is human sacrifice, then the PRC is still a practitioner of thie gruesome crime against humanity.

"The Shang were like the Aztecs of the Chinese Bronze Age."

It is written that at the collapse of the Shang Dynasty, 250,000 'took to the sea.'

There is some evidence that ties the Olmecs of Mexico to the Shang Dynasty.

Yup, I know. Elizabeth Barber did a good job of covering this subject in her book: The Mummies Of Urumchi." Barber was invited onto this team by Victor Mair who wrote and even better book on the subject titled: The Tarim Mummies.

And, BTW, I didn't say or imply anything about race.

Not to my knowledge.

The Human protein found in a corpolite in Chako Canyon (Christy Turner) in the American SW is all I know about.

I know. This kind of stuff inflames leftists, that's why I bring up race. They identify only negative with white and positive with other colors. They need to learn that people are people and can be savage and uncivilized regardless of race.
