If he supported both then that makes him a fence sitter and even less trustworthy.

“What difference does it make?”

I agree. At this point will it make any difference? You will always have the bitter clingers who will sit out the election for one reason or another.

Oh lord woman, get a hold of yourself.

Plenty of people here, this thread being a perfect example, comment from a position of ignorance. I was happy to see you ask the question about the conscience clause, most don’t and you can tell from their comments that they have no clue what they are talking about. Follow your original path of enlightenment and read the article, learn, comment from a place of knowledge.

...radio host Steve Deace... recently asked his followers on Twitter whether they want Senator Ted Cruz to publicly endorse Donald Trump. The results show that 83% say no, while only 17% say they want Cruz to use his political capital to help Trump.
The steady decline in interest in Twitter baffles analysts.

“Bitter clingers”. I’ve only ever heard liberals use those words against conservatives. Interesting.

Bush and Obama have lowered the bar so much that all I am asking is that Trump stop the invasion of our country and the recruitment of Muslim "refugees" to come here and try to improve the job situation. He at least promises to do it. Sanders and Clinton want more invasion and oppose deportation.

I agree with much of what Trump says but not everything. And I do not expect to find a candidate I agree with 100%. Initially I was a Cruz supporter until he turned weird, becoming obsessed with Trump and making that statement after the Chicago protests.

The term "conservative" has lost meaning for me. It is applied to include people such as Lindsay Graham, Nikki Haley, Glen Beck, and others who have no love for this country. I have no used for their kind.

Wow, to add to my earlier thought . . . 80 percent plus of Cruz supporters want him to break the pledge? Guess that reveals something about them, too.

______________

Yeah, how about those moral church going folks?

Most Cruz supporters on FR are alright but the ones on Twitter are a different story. They are bats**t crazy barking moonbats.

Many are openly supporting Hillary & applauding the Soros paid, La Raza thugs attacking Trump supporters. The #nevertrump loons have become a vicious, hate-filled, liberal cult. Of course, they’re still bragging about how “holy” they are.

One of those “principled conservatives” tweeted Anti-Trump articles from the NYT & Salon. I replied that no “principled conservative” would be following the NYT or Salon. He didn’t like that very much:)

Thank God for FR.

Why would anyone come on FR and tell others - college-educated, successful people - to follow a path of enlightenment which, according to you, means reading the republican party platform! Yeah, too bad Siddhartha didn’t take your advice - look where he would have gotten.

Sorry, I’ve got better things to do with my time than follow your advice. Buzz off, do.

I want to see Cruz endorse Trump on the first day of the Republican Convention. At that point, it would be news and would provide a potential boost. Today, it would do almost nothing.

I just re-watched the six minute interchange between Cruz and a Trump supporter on the eve of the Indiana primary. It’s rough. The champion debater walks in and gets pounded by a random guy like a human pinata.

Cruz tries his patronizing, deeply principled candidate voice and cadence, pregnant pauses and all, and is just made to look like quite the wide eyed fool.

Alinsky was right - ridicule is a potent weapon. Cruz just went into that battle of wits on the street completely unarmed. I’d almost feel sorry for Cruz. Almost.

It wouldn’t be “rigging” anything, conscience clause has been standard for over 100 years.”

When’s the last time enough delegates broke the “legally-bound-on-first-ballot” rule, when a candidate had over the required amount of delegates before the convention?

Not when someone didn’t have enough before the convention, but when they did have enough beforehand.

Now one of my favorite political memories. Taken down by a group of funny working-class guys. It was great to see such an elitist taken down.

What are you going on about? The link I provided isn’t to the party platform. It is an explanation of the conscience clause and some background history on it. You asked how the conscience clause worked, I provided an article that explained it so you didn’t have to take my or anyone else’s word for it. But, you know, horse, water, etc.

Your words are worthless. I most certainly am on the right forum. Trump has said he does not need Republican party unity to win. I say good luck with that. Cruz will probably come out in support once the formality of the nomination is taken care of. So Cruz will probably sell out too.

As far as risking a Hildabeast presidency. I am thinking that perhaps it’s time for season of evil. Especially when the GOP backs people like Lindsey Graham.

If there is to be unity Trump has to do the work to get it. But I think he thinks that he can bring enough Democrats over to win without the dedicated conservatives.

I am a conservative first and a Republican second. I am not going to vote for someone that has not proven to me he is a conservative.

I like many of my fellow social conservatives are going to be watching very closely who he picks as vice-president before we make our final decision.

In the meantime I am making my resignation letter from the Republican party ready, and for the first time in my life I am ready to vote third party or a write in, even if it means a Hildbeast presidency. At least Hildabeast is someone I can oppose. If I vote for Trump without proof of his conservatism and he turns on us once in office I will have only myself to blame.
