There are no conditions on the conscience clause as far as I read. If the delegate believes the candidate does not uphold the party platform or would be detrimental to the party and/or country, they do not have to vote for them.

Seriesly, read the article, it’s pretty interesting.

Why should Cruz endorse him? Trump himself has said he can win without Republican unity right? Trump does not need the real conservatives (i.e. those that have not cow-towed to Obama). He has proven that through the primaries.

If Trump wins with a shattered Republican party its for the best. The Conservatives have lost the culture war. Its best that they be left behind so that Trump can forge the unity needed between the left and the right. We need to put aside little squabbles like abortion and Gay marriage.Only Trump can do that kind of a deal! Embrace unity. It doesn't matter anymore what we believe as long as we have unity!

All we need is unity and Trump is smart enough to tell us what we need to believe in.

GO TRUMP!!!

Ok. But it sounds like you could drive a truck through that clause. I can’t wait for the delegation to see the Cruz snowflakes in action!

I mean convention, not delegation.

There is no driving a truck through it, it IS the truck. Really, read tbe article, it’s not that long. It will help you understand the issue. There are many people here that do not. Choose to not be ignorant on this issue.

Yes, the 2018 Senate race will be interesting on many levels. I fully expect President Trump will be taking careful notes of who has supported and who has opposed his administration in its first two years and will be prominent on the campaign trail to help clear out the congressional “dead wood”.

"Real conservatives."

I take it you think you are one.

You're not.

No one wants to know how sausage is made in the republican party. And don’t go calling people you don’t know ignorant.

Cruz’s own base is highly principled? If you don’t vote Trump, you’re objectively helping Hillary, which make them traitors to Conservative movement and the nation

Does conscious clause mean:

1) you found out he is guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors
2) you just don’t like the guy

#1 is a reasonable standard (as it is found in the Constitution). #2 is not. Nobody is making the “high crimes and misdemeanors” case against Trump. Nobody is saying Trump has committed an impeachable offense so he should not be the nominee.

So no, there is no scenario where the conscious clause would be valid as far as Trump is concerned.

Ironically, delegates to the Democratic convention could make the “high crimes and misdemeanors” case against voting for Hillary. Her bribery/influence-peddling over US uranium supplies by itself is an impeachable offense.

Since Dems have no conscience, does that mean they have no clause?

Oh, it’s very clear that people don’t want to understand the process. They want to bitch and complain about it, for sure, but understand it? Nope. Must be too hard. So much easier to remain ignorant and say “baaaah”. Only thing wrong with ignorance is not doing something about it when provided the opportunity. But, oh my will people scream “He stole the nomination! He stole the delegates!” when no such thing happened. Of course, they would know that if they weren’t ignorant of history of the nominating process. If you are content with the lack of nowledge, by all means, carry on.

example......

Conscience Clause- All persons and all legal entities have the right of conscience,
and should be protected under Texas law if they conscientiously object to
participate in practices that conflict with their moral or religious beliefs.

This from the

I take it you think you are one. You're not.

Trump is not a real conservative. My brand of Conservatism is not for sale to a usurper. My brand of Conservatism is both Social and Fiscal. The GOP has self destructed to separate itself from the social Conservatives. Their mission has been accomplished.

The only way I might vote for Trump is if he picks a socially and fiscally conservative running mate (with the track record to prove it) and that would prove to me his sincerity regarding his born again conservatism.

So you can take you accusation and stick it where the sun don't shine.

Go boo-hoo on somebody else’s shoulder. It’s been clear from the beginning of this thread that you’re one of those die-hard Cruz people who will be pouting all the way up to inauguration day.

Right back at you.

You a-hole Cruzers have been accusing Trump supporters of not being "true conservatives" from Day One. It's about time it hit you straight between the eyes.

I don't give a rip if you vote for Trump or not – although every Cruzlim wants to be wooed and catered to.

There aren't that many of you, nobody needs you, so stuff it.

Until after the Republican National Convention, there is no nominee. All those who pledged to support the eventual nominee, at that time will support the Republican Nominee.

Between now and then we have no nominee, no matter how anyone has voted. A scandal, a sickness, economic circumstances, any number of things can happen. The nominee comes out of the convention. The nominee is elected by the convention, and the convention only.

That being said, I believe Trump will be our nominee. I cannot say the same for the Democrat convention selecting Hillary. There may be a revolt, and Biden, Warren, or someone like Gore ends up being the nominee. The environmentalist wackos would really love to see Gore as the nominee.

They will scream high and loudly that he deserves it, because he was cheated by Bush. Liberals always avoid facts, and votes, and court ruling. Instead they blast everyone with their lies, with the belief that if they repeat the lie loud enough, and long enough, it will be fact.

Example: No matter what a person does to their body, they either have a Y chromosome or not. If there is a Y, then there must be a male. If there is no Y, then they are by nature a woman.

There’s no boohoo’ing. I invited you to read the article, gave you a link to it even so it was easy for you, or remain status quo. It is clear what you have chosen. Though since that is your choice you now have no basis for making any comment on what happens at the convention.

I did not say Trump supporters are not conservatives. Where did I say that precisely?

Good luck with Trump. If he manages to get elected we will see how much of a conservative he really is. If he does not live up to the standard I will be reminding you and your fellow Trumpites of your folly. Trump has done nothing but talk. He has no street creds, and he has supported Democrats his whole life.
