Will Cruz Endorse Trump?
PJ MEDIA ^ | 5-28-2016 | MICHAEL VAN DER GALIEN

owa radio host Steve Deace -- who was one of Ted Cruz's most important backers in the first primary state and who has a nationally syndicated radio show -- recently asked his followers on Twitter whether they want Senator Ted Cruz to publicly endorse Donald Trump.

The results show that 83% say no, while only 17% say they want Cruz to use his political capital to help Trump.

The reason is simple: Cruz’s own base is highly principled...

BS, Cruz’s own base is highly brainwashed, willfully ignoring Cruz’s lack of honor, lack of conservative principles, lack of Constitutional grounding, pettiness and constant dishonesty.

I fully understand it if Ted Cruz declines endorsing Trump. I will stand by him if he makes that decision, 100%.

“Whatever it is Cruz has begun, I hope he finishes it.”

Trying to be the most despised Republican in history? He might have already accomplished that.

As to the issue of U.S. Senator Ted Cruz,

I wish him an Edgar Allen Poe ‘cask of Amontillado’.

As for his never renouncing his fellowship with Glenn Beck,
may he be awarded his ‘honorary mormon knickers’, complete with, ahem, crabs.

As to his announcing so or not of his ‘now approval’ of Donald J. Trump, I can gladly serve a rodent’s posterior, for either decision the Canadian-born makes.

I think Cruz is holding his endorsement of Trump in an effort to get some items approved
at the convention. What they are I have no idea. They may be party rules, platform planks,
etc but if he has any hope of becoming the nominee down the road he needs to get on board.

So Cruz supporters support his LIE that he would endorse and support the CHOSEN GOP candidate?

Wow.

That might be an "unintended" consequence, but I've been wrong before.

Like with that quote from the Wisdom of Sirach where I forgot the word "be":
"so will be the inhabitants of his city."

What’s interesting about the whole pledge kerfuffle is this. All the rage was Trump’s reluctance to sign it. All the indignation. All the finger-pointing. Then, he did sign it after leading a news cycle or two. Now the hypocrisy of Bush (and Romney, who wasn’t involved in the pledge, but who owes the party’s nominee some support) reveals these jerks for what they are.

Exit question: Did Trump foresee this? Did he game this out to its end? A couple of months ago, I would have said no. Lately? Things work for him. As somebody pointed out on a nearby thread: Coke and Bud are changing their labels to a Trump-like theme because even the marketers are noticing a lot of us love America and want it to be great. So. Even if Trump didn’t foresee the outcome of certain things, he has caused them And almost always to his benefit.

Makes you wonder.

>Wow, to add to my earlier thought . . . 80 percent plus of Cruz supporters want him to break the pledge? Guess that reveals something about them, too.

They are not men of honor. Trump took the time to hand write a note to some of the anti Trump radio hosts in WI after Cruz dropped. Instead writing him back in the same manner these same hosts read his note on air and mocked Trump for reaching out to them.

They are little men with big egos and no principles.

Conscience clause has been “inserted” for over 100 years sith the exception of 1976 where it was removed.

I think that Trump knew instinctively that the pledge thing was a set up just for him. Or he had a friendly warning what the Fox moderators were up to. Trumps life experience has given him a sense of where something is leading to and knows to prepare for the outcome he wants. He also has good sense, like the huge number of Americans who support him We know we have been snookered for years by the political establishment and are ready for a YOUGE change. Go Trump.

This is a pretty detailed article that explains the committee process. It also explains the conscience clause. Basically the conscience clause has been a part of the nominating rules for over 100 years. The exception being 1976 when Goldwater was able to use his influence to require unit voting.

The “pledge” was intended for Trump, no one else. He wasn’t expected to agree to it; he was supposed to refuse and then be hounded out of the race due to not being a serious Republican. And, he certainly wasn’t expected to amass the most delegates by far, exceeding the 1237 threshold.

“Egos” is the key term.

This speaks to the character, or lack there of, of these people. They are far more concerned with themselves than the Country.

I perceive Cruz unwilling and unable to accept defeat, to the point that once Trump is elected, I’ll bet he will be the biggest critic of Trump, making him a Media darling, similar to John McCain.

It wouldn’t be “rigging” anything, conscience clause has been standard for over 100 years.
