That's not really how it works, no.
This was not a debate. Debates are when the individuals involved debate one another. Here it was nothing more than answering questions from so called journalists trying to entrap the candidates into questions not remotely concerned with the processelecting the next republican for president. Fox is a crock, and Megyn Jelly Kelley is a joke. It was about the moderators, not about the candidates or ferreting out the views of the candidates pertinent to the race. What a joke.
The Foxy 3 were trying to bait the candidates into a fight rather than addressing the issues equally. Cruz went 40 minutes without a question.
Presidential campaigns are becoming another reality tv show.
A press release by “One America News”?
You’re right to be skeptical.
See you guys at the elections.
None of them are as impressive as Carly...
Trump, about two-thirds. Everyone else, single digits...
As a Ted Cruz supporter, I have now become convinced that Trump is the only person in the race at this time who can defeat any of the potential democrat nominees.
It doesn’t matter who won the debate, even though I do think trump won, and it does not matter who wins any of the future debates.
Here’s my theory. The democrat candidate is most likely going to get 47% of the vote automatically just for having a D by their name.
The only way to overcome that is with a person who has an X-factor. Something that cannot be named but can be seen by all. Some essence or quality that draws people to them like them or not. Something that catches people’s eye and/ or their attention. Something that makes you stand out above all the others.
Trump has two X-factors. First he is a star and he has been for a long time. People know him, they have thought of him, they have their opinions on him and have had them for sometime. He is a known quantity, and he has entertained many over the years in one way or another.
Second. He is an unapologetic individual with balls who is sticking his middle finger right in the face of the GOP, which is hated by its base, and rightfully so.
Conversely, Hillary and Sanders and O’Malley do not have an X-factor. Hillary in particular is a dud, and they know it, and they are trying to hide it as best they can, but everyone knows she is just a wet paper bag of poop on your doorstep.
When I think of the past I think of Carter, dud, tossed after one go. Reagan, magnificent human being, even people that didn’t like him liked him. Bush, dud, but got elected because he was associated with Reagan, but tossed after one go because he was a dud. Clinton, rockstar, elected twice. Dole, dud, nope. Bush 2, yes, he has an X-factor, he is a likable guy and a manly guy depsite being thick headed and a bit liberal. Gore, dud, Kerry, dud.
Obama, he is a compelling speaker, he can put on a show with his voice. McCain...walking corpse, ahole. Romney, dud.
People want to elect someone with some sort of wow to them.
So considering this, I think it is possible that Trump can, simply by the force of his personality, gather enough forces around him to win against the democrats, and I don’t think any of the other candidates can. they have no X-factors, none of them has any particular magic, none of them are lightning in a bottle.
I hate to say that about my man, Cruz, but brother, you have to learn to inspire if you want to lead.
My concern at this time is this. If Trump does manage to win the nomination and then defeat the democrats, I would not be surprised at all if the powers that be in Washington flat out refuse to do anything with him at all.
I would not be surprised at all to see Demonrats and Republic*nts unite against him and give him veto proof majorities on everything.
Trump is not a member of the club, and they do not want him or his X-factor.
People aren’t going to wake up about Cruz unless Cruz wakes up.
He’s too low key. he’s livelier than Scott Sleeper, but he isn’t lively enough to rally large amounts of support that is needed to win.
I like your analysis!
I believe that a majority of both liberals and conservatives in this country are scared to death that we are currently being invaded by peoples who hate America. People of different political persuasions are united by this fear for our country. Trump has addressed this forcefully and has been willing to face the consequences. Everyone else has sounded more like mealy mouthed politicians who won't actually do anything about it.
People also see our influence in the world in rapid decline. Our way of life in peril and the future of our children and grandchildren in ruin. Trump is the one who has tapped into these fears and I believe despite the media and political elite's desire to have him disappear; he is here to stay.
Only hardline conservatives read Newsmax. If he gets 65% in their poll that’s saying something.
From what I saw posted here Carly tweeted that she stands with Megyn.
No thanks!
“I believe that a majority of both liberals and conservatives in this country are scared to death that we are currently being invaded by peoples who hate America. People of different political persuasions are united by this fear for our country.”
You could very well be right about this. I don’t know to what extent trump may appeal to liberals, but one has to believe that there are liberals out there who do still love America, at least I hope there is.
His poll numbers indicate that he has definitely tapped into and harnessed something, and the other candidates haven’t.
He seems to have a quality the others do not. Natural leadership.
He shoots from the hip because he is confident in his aim.
The others offer mostly canned pre-practiced responses that you hear at any many or even all of their other appearances as if they are reciting from a script they memorized.
I swear, if I hear Kasich say his dad was a mailman one more time, I’m going to throw up.
If I hear Marco Rubio tell me of his family coming to America one more time, BARF!
That might make a wonderful feel good movie of the year, Marco, but it doesn’t tell me a damn thing about what you want to do, and I am not going to elect you president because of your mom and dad or your childhood.
He’s done good in all the polls including drudge with 400,000 so far
The poll isn’t meaningless.
It may be wildly inaccurate, as the votes are from self-selected voters, but it isn’t meaningless.
The meaning of this poll, and others like it, comes from the widespread use and acceptance as proof of who won. A kind of self-fulfilling announcement.
Some will call it a lie, and they may be right. We will know in a few days, after new polls show how support for the candidate has changed.
Drudge Poll
TRUMP 44.67% (261,352 votes)
CRUZ .. 14.31% (83,729 votes)

That was a fine analysis.
The part about the inside Washington uniting against him is also true, I think.
The part Trump will play is that of a leader, leading the country in the right direction, and causing an irresistible force to push against the inside Washington crowd. One they can’t hold out against.
i think you might be right but now that the easy dictatorship has been established. Congress and SCOTUS are irrelevant. He can do the same thing obama has done via orders. He just needs a certain level of bureaucrats to obey. that is the hard part of the dictator.
C of C...if the unscientific polls would have shown Cruz doubling like Trump....you would be posting them on every thread. I like Cruz but at this time America needs Trump.

Well said. Great post.
