Every POTUS has signed bibles in the past.

I wish I had been keeping track of all the phony “outrage” stories about PDJT doing this or that.

Congress should call for a commission on Bible-signing, and get to the bottom of this (forbidding politicians, football players, and Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders from signing Bibles).

Being from the state, I don’t see a problem. For that guy or gal....for the rest of their life, they will talk about the tornado damage, the damage done to their house, the woes, and then President Trump coming up, shaking their hand, and signing their Bible. Tears will flow, and folks will get all emotional about that 72-hour period.

Of course, it never occurs to people that the bibles may have been the only material on hand to sign.

I have been donating food and caffeine drinks to the emergency workers in Alabama. Every time I go to the Emergency Center, I am asked to sign a poster for the survivors, wishing them prayers and good wishes. I was surprised because that never happened when I contributed stuff after 9/11. Obviously, an Alabama thing. It is a VERY religious state, God bless it.

The Bible shouldn’t be used as a political ploy? Has Bill Clinton been made aware of this? /s

“Council of Churches” = liberal stooges

Families used to pass Bibles down through generations and write all sorts of important family history in them. To many, the day they met the POTUS (regardless of party) is a major event that may even require “proof” in later years.

From that standpoint, I have no problem with Trump signing Bibles. I’d never have Trump as an elder in my church (nor would I Reagan), that doesn’t mean I don’t revere him as President.

I’m sure if Ms. Council of Churches was visited by Obama, she’d be thrilled to have him sign her Bible although Obama would probably prefer to sign a copy of the Koran.

I saw this story on the local news last night. They showed bibles signed by Bush the 2nd and 0bama and said that presidents signing bibles is pretty common. I’ll bet that no other bible signings stirred any kind of “controversy” or comment. It’s all part of the continuing effort to abnormalize EVERYTHING Trump does or says.

But the Rev. Donnie Anderson, executive minister of the Rhode Island State Council of Churches, said she was offended by the way Trump scrawled his signature Friday

Leave it to the media to find a transgender minister in Rhode Island to express outrage.

"It's Ma'am!"

But the Rev. Donnie Anderson, executive minister of the Rhode Island State Council of Churches, said she was offended by the way Trump scrawled his signature Friday as he autographed Bibles and other things, including hats, and posed for photos. She viewed it, she said, as a “calculated political move” by the Republican president to court his evangelical voting base.

Amazing how disgusting putative church leaders are. Church leaders of the disgusting persuasion transcend sect.

Review this report as; AP seizes an opportunity to attack Christianity and Trump by reporting story in this manner which they would have spiked if the person was a democrat.

The Rev. Donnie Anderson is the epitome with of the liberal clergy destroying mainline protestant churches. The suffering of the people is oblivious to her as she seizes an opportunity to score her own political points with the media by condemning the president for staging what she views a political event. She wasn’t present for the event yet somehow she essentially asserts she possess the power of God to discern the motivations of someone at the event and to pass judgment on that person.

Perhaps Ms. Anderson should spend less time attending to the administration of the Rhode Island State Council of Churches and more time reading the scripture. I highly recommend Matthew 7:5 — “Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.”

some are offended and others say he could have handled it differently.
.........................................
This is an example of one of the disgusting ploys that journalists and other scribblers commonly use that I detest. It goes without saying that rarely if ever does everyone on the planet share a favorable view of an issue, or agree that something could NOT have been handled “differently”. So the only purpose of such an asinine statement is to make sure gullible readers are reminded that they too can feel offended and be critical.

My sister is the current owner of our "family bible". It is well over a century old, written in Norwegian, and contains some of our family's early immigration history. It includes records of my 19 year old great uncle who immigrated from Norway, was inducted into the army, and was killed while freeing slaves in the Civil War for the Union army, before he even could learn English.

Just think if that bible had been signed by a controversial president, say, Abraham Lincoln, on a visit to the area after a crisis had befallen the area. It would be, of course, a cherished memento, not heresy.

If the media people that are on the attack for this bothered to read the Bible, they’d find in the 10 Commandments:

“Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour”

Guess they were absent the day that was taught.
