Russian President Vladimir Putin signed an anti-terrorism law, but for the country's many churches, the signature sparked a demand for prayer and fasting.
The bill toughens punishment for acts deemed to be terrorism and for the organization of "mass unrest," according to the Los Angeles Times. It would also introduce prison sentences of up to a year for those who fail to report such crimes.
Furthermore, Great Commission Ministries Chairman Hanny Haukka tells Charisma News the law entails:
Foreign guests are not permitted to speak in churches unless they have a "work permit" from Russian authorities If a friend or relative from outside Russia wishes to share his/her faith in your home the guest will be fined and expelled from Russia. Any discussion of God with non-believers is considered missionary activity and will be punishable.
Pretty much everyone who came here in the 17th and 18th century was fleeing religious persecution. Imagine coming over in those tiny leaky boats to a totally brand new place.
Thanks
Thanks
But isn't the Los Angeles Times an organization of mass unrest?
>.Judging from Putins past behavior, it would not surprise me if this does end up going after the Christians as well.

What past behavior are you referring to, DB?
That’s perfect for my family!
“What past” or “which past” behavior? Putin is a history of being “aggressive” or “thuggish”. His support for the Russian church only goes so far as to further his own agenda.

My mother knew her grandfather from Holland. She remembers that he forbade the speaking of Dutch, because that was the “old way!” And the old way was bad! That was not so long ago.
>>What past or which past behavior?
Either one is grammatically correct:
1 “What past” behavior are you speaking about?
or
2 “Which past” behavior are you referring to?
>>Putin is a history of being aggressive or thuggish
The 31 second video link you posted does not appear to support the two adjectives used to describe him.
Thank you for the link. I enjoyed reading the comments which seemed to be positive. One in particular stated that it is typical behavior to kiss a priest’s hand, but not for the priest to kiss a leader’s hand. The poster indicated its significance was to convey the message that Putin was recognized as the Leader of the country (paraphrased).
No but a quick Google search will give you many links to his "past" thuggish behavior. Strange how anyone could struggle with that. Do you feel Putin is a good man?
A few years ago, that video was all over the net. People were outraged at the site of that man kissing Putin's hand while others claimed it was all for show, that Putin is using the church. Kind of like when he takes off his shirt to show off his muscles.
On September 10th, 2001, the Russian jets locked on to civilian aircraft off the coast of Alaska. My brother worked at the air traffic control tower in Anchorage at that time. He said the Russian military were not only locking onto the civilian aircraft but were also flying so close that they could have caused an accident. Pilots, the controllers, and others were terrified and my brother had thought that if America was not at war the next day, it would be a miracle. After 9/11, little was said about this "incident". Russia did not attempt another provocative act under Bush, at least that I know of. But once Obama came into power, Russia started back up again.
Listen. You made the claim, and I asked you for documentation. The video link you gave did not do that.
Do you have a link for the civilian airplane incident(s)?
Here are some good links for anyone interested:

Actually, people would go to Holland to escape.
The most obvious one. You seem to be stuck with that.
I asked you for documentation
Which is easily found if you google "Putin" and thuggish behavior".
The video link you gave did not do that.
I didn't claim it would. You can go back and check. That was just a bonus video of Putin.
Do you have a link for the civilian airplane incident(s)?
Washington Times does not have an active link going that far back. But there is this, which does not mention the locking onto civilian targets.

Here is a more recent article of similar Russian provocation.

So, again, I ask you, do you feel Putin is a good man?
Your response is so filled with inaccuracies that I do not consider you a credible poster worthy of my response time.
Good day.
Not some of the Huguenots; as I understand it were originally French speaking Swiss who did go to Holland first but then came to the States. We have very little information as to motives for the second move. Everything has been lost in assimilation. My parents did not care to dwell on the past. OK with me!
you are worried about putin right now? Are you kidding? You’ve got to be kidding. I know this is a joke. I don’t believe he’s Christian for a second but I know he wants the country to believe in Christianity and get married and have plenty of kids.
If he's not a Christian, why would he want his country to believe in it? That makes no sense.
Putin will pay Christians lip service as long as he needs their support.
