An analysis of the Bible and the Quran has found that violence and destruction are discussed more frequently in Christian scripture than in the Islamic text. This Is What Happens When People Hear The Bible But See The Quran. In an effort to dispel the oft-mentioned argument that Islam is an "inherently violent religion", an American software engineer processed the Holy books in order to find out how frequently savagery is mentioned. Tom Anderson said: "The project was inspired by the ongoing public debate around whether or not terrorism connected with Islamic fundamentalism reflects something inherently and distinctly violent about Islam compared to other major religions."
Far-right groups such as Britain First often advocate the idea Islam is "inherently violent". Anderson used software he developed, Odin Text, to analyse both the Old and New Testaments as well as an English-language version of the Quran dated from 1917. It took just two minutes to complete the analysis and produce a series of data analysing the sentiment of words included in the scriptures. Of eight emotions - joy, trust, fear, surprise, sadness, disgust, anger and anticipation - the Bible scored higher for anger and much lower for joy and trust than the Quran...

I wonder why Tom Anderson and "Odintext" didn't do a search on 'slavery' or 'women as property', which are both endorsed in the Quran. He must have innocently forgotten to include beheadings, and burnings which are fates commonly prescribed for unbelievers. "When you meet the unbelievers in the battlefield, strike off their heads and, when you have laid them low, bind your captives firmly" (Quran 47:4)
It must have been an oversight for Tom not to search on 'War on unbelievers' which is OK: "O ye who believe! Fight the unbelievers who grid you about and let them find firmness in you, and know that Allah is with those who fear Him" (Quran 9:123) Those who arenât Muslims must be killed: "Slay the unbelievers wherever you find them" (Quran 9:5)
Why didn't Tom do a search on 'kill the Jews and Christians'...the shared enemy of Islam and the leftists elites: "O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: they are but friends and protectors of each other. And he amongst you that turns to them is of them." (Quran 5:51)
Why leave out searches in "Odintext" on wife beating? I wonder why?: "Good women are obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them." (Quran 4:34)
No Odin text searches on pedophilia? What? Islamic texts clearly reveal that Mohammed married a 6 year old, deflowering her by the age of 9. This is one of the reasons pedophilia is approved of in Islamic societies to this day!
I wonder why Odin text did not do a search on 'female genital mutilation'? Hmmm...this seems to be a glaring omission from a company seeking the truth? Before it became politically incorrect to criticize Islam, some very famous and respected men of history understood its dangers.
Voltaire: "But that a camel-merchant [Muhammad] should stir up insurrection in his village; that in league with some miserable followers he persuades them that he talks with the angel Gabriel; that he boasts of having been carried to heaven, where he received in part this unintelligible book, each page of which makes common sense shudder; that, to pay homage to this book, he delivers his country to iron and flame; that he cuts the throats of fathers and kidnaps daughters; that he gives to the defeated the choice of his religion or death: this is assuredly nothing any man can excuse, at least if he was not born a Turk, or if superstition has not extinguished all natural light in him."
when George Bowden beloved sharia takes over in UK...huffPo will no longer exist. Wonder if he will be surprised when they come for his head?
Well there was that killing every living thing on Earth thing.
Nearly all world wide terrorist acts in the last twenty years have been committed by Muslims. End of story.
Absolutely untrue. There is nothing in the Bible that comes anywhere near this. and this is 1 of 109 such verses in the Koran
Quran (2:191-193) - “And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And Al-Fitnah [disbelief or unrest] is worse than killing...
but if they desist, then lo! Allah is forgiving and merciful. And fight them until there is no more Fitnah [disbelief and worshipping of others along with Allah] and worship is for Allah alone. But if they cease, let there be no transgression except against Az-Zalimun
I read this garbage yesterday. Obviously written by someone that doesn’t understand the bible and merely took passages out of context to “prove” his point.
‘Why do the leftist global elites elevate Islam?’
Theyre self destructive. They dont realize theyre playing with a dangerous thing which will wind up comsuming them in the end. It deosnt have to be islam but anything really...sex, drugs etc.
As someone who has read both, I call BS. Whatever criteria they used to judge the ‘amount’ of violence is skewed at best. At worst an outright lie.
Muslim societies are statist, conformist, fascist/socialist societies. The people are easy to rule with force, dictates, welfare and bread and circuses. Islam literally means “submission.” Its members are ideal citizens for the progressive nanny-state.
Christians emphasize each individual made in the image and likeness of God. The state has its temporal power, but otherwise, has no influence over the beliefs or behavior of a true Christian. The state is superfluous to Christian culture and ethics. Therefore, Christians are the LEAST ideal citizens of the top-down, fascist-socialist state.
“Absolutely untrue.”
Yet the leftist freak haters will sanctimoniously run with this as well as “Christians and muslims worship the same god” until Election Day and beyond.
Of course if one ignores the distinction between the advocacy of violence and the report of violence and calls both “violence” one can come to the meaningless conclusion that there is more “violence” in the New Testament (and way more in the Old) than in the Qu’ran.
So what....Christians aren’t running around murdering people in the name of Christianity....
Besides, Christianity is all about the New Testament and Jesus, not necessarily the Old Testament.
big BS flag goes here:
What MATTERS is that the Koran teaches its readers to attack, subjugate or murder Christians, Jews, and other infidels in TODAY’s world, .....and that they’re doing it to us TODAY ... all around the world!
They conflate a description of historical violence with a commandment to go forward and commit violence.
The Bible describes many wars, many murders, etc. But the prescription from the book is anti-war, anti-murder.
The koran, I’m sure, describes many wars and murders, but also carries the command to commit war and murder to spread islam to the unbelievers, or to simply murder unbelievers to eliminate competition.
Yahweh was indeed a violent, genocidal deity, the stick for which apparently the NT God is the carrot. That being said, it was God doing most of carnage, not laying it upon his followers to do it for him, as Allah did. Since we can’t whack an invisible critter upside the head, the next best thing is to take his followers out. And it’s coming.
The Bible is longer than the kuran. Neither Christianity nor Judaism practices the things mentioned in the Bible. islam does the things in the kuran.
End of discussion.
Why the hell does the left want to trash Christianity and idealize islam?
Which group’s adherents go around cutting people’s heads off in the 21st century? That’s what I thought.
Exactly. I've been in church pretty much every Sunday for over fifty years, in churches of various denominations, and have heard plenty of sermons from both Testaments, and not once was I told by a pastor, evangelists, Sunday School teacher, etc., that God requires me to go out and commit acts of violence. I've read the Bible on my own and haven't seen that prescription either.
