Christianity is not just about being happy and feeling good and being liked by others
Whats at the root of this movement to back away from moral issues? Heres what I think is the problem. When you advocate for moral causes like protecting the unborn, or school choice, or freeing the slaves, a bunch of people are not going to like you. Christians in the time of Jesus knew that being bold about their Christian convictions would make a lot of people think bad things about them they expected it. But young evangelicals have gotten the idea that being a Christian should not involve any sort of unhappiness and unpopularity. They wouldnt have learned this from the Bible, because the Bible emphasizes suffering and unpopularity as part of the normal Christian life. It is their experience of church (and the hedonistic culture around them) that is likely to reinforce that view.
What young evangelicals learn in many churches is that religion is something that is centered on the Bible and the church building it is not something that flows into real life. They learn that you cant find out anything about God from the Big Bang, the DNA, the fossil record, or even from the peer-reviewed research on abortion, divorce, or gay marriage. They learn from the Bible that helping the poor is good, but then they never pick up an economic textbook to see which economic system really helps the poor. What you learn about in church is that religion is private and has no connection to reality whatsoever. This fits in with their view that Christianity should make them happy, because theyve learned that it doesnt involve any studying to connect the Bible to the real world.

“Ours may be the last generation in this country to remember what religious freedom really meant.”
All the more to stand for righteousness.
Please read my posts #19 and #20.
So you’ve stopped paying your taxes?
The flaw in your statement is the introduction of the sin of Adam which spread to all of us.
In many counties and even entire states, if conservatives and Christians simply removed their children from the government schools, the entire evil system would completely collapse.
Question: Why are you making this personal? Is it to discredit the message by seeking an opportunity to discredit the messenger? Marxists/fascist/Progs use that Alynski debating tactic.
And stopped receiving Social Security and State pension as well
Have you stopped paying your taxes. Not only does some tax money go to fund godless schooling but some also finds its way to the pockets of Planned Parenthood and its abortion factories.

2Tim 4:1 I charge [thee] therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2Tim 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
2Tim 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2Tim 4:4 And they shall turn away [their] ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Metmom says I am required to give you a courtesy ping. That is not stalking. You need to stop crying wolf.
I consider these posts to be stalking. Please stop posting to me.
That is why even people of ostensible intelligence don't even "get," for instance, that homosexuality is "abnormal" or that contraception is a sabotage of the human sexual design. Under the influence of Adam's sin, we are no longer even truly attuned to the natural, let alone the supernatural.
My post was to point out hypocrisy. You condemn others for using public schools, yet continue to support them through your taxes. Have I stopped paying? No. I’m not the one on this thread screaming about public ed. You’re like those people who cry, “Our Founders would have been shooting by now!” Are these people taking up arms and marching on Washington? No.
I’m not disagreeing with your assertions about public ed and our Godless society, I’m just sick of people who “talk the talk but don’t walk the walk.” They’re no different than Boner, Lindsey, and McShame.
And I’m truly not taking it personally. Based on your posts that would be you. My tactics are certainly not Alinsky-esque. As I originally posted back to you, I’m simply sick of the bellyaching by those who call for drastic measures via the Internet from the comfort of their living rooms.
Do you pay your taxes even though some of goes to Planned Parenthood and its abortion factories? Just wondering?
However....It is a fact that government ( which is by law godless and Marxist dominated) would completely and immediately collapse in many counties and even some entire states if conservatives and Christians simply removed their children.
That is a fact, regardless of whether you and I pay our taxes.
And....I do wonder. The author of this article is concerned about the increasing “compartmentalization” of the faith of young people. Of the ministers he is complaining about, how many of them have spouses working in godless schools? What percentage of their congregations directly or indirectly gain a living from godless schools?
Christianity is not just about being happy and feeling good and being liked by others
Carl Trueman and Todd Pruit, the Mortification of Spin podcast, on "Happiness Questing".
Worth a listen.
I agree - because theyre young, and because they live in a society where about the worst thing thats happened to them is being told No by their parents, not making a team, or not being invited to a cool party. This is generally true for young people whether theyve been well-taught as Christians or not.Eventually, life will kick them in the teeth, and then theyll either seize hold of faith, morality, and truth ... or they wont. But if they dont the first time, God will keep giving them opportunities, right up to their last breath.
(Tax-chick, who got kicked in the teeth *and* whomped upside the head with a brick.)
We're having a bad summer here, ourselves.
Seriously, give a listen to that "Mortification of Spin" episode I just linked to.

Of one thing Im certain, the influence exerted on me by Alexander Solzhenitsyn is incalculable.
I’d better not.
I think I may be developing one of those allergies to nuts.
