From the article: - God lives on a giant crystal ball. See D&C 130:6-8.

I pulled out verse 8: 8 The place where God resides is a great aUrim and Thummim

And...alas, I've pointed to the "planet" Kolob in previous posts...I should have been more Mormon accurate...in that they regard Kolob as a "star" -- and that God's planet is close to that star:

From the article: - God's home planet orbits a star named "Kolob." See Abraham 3:3 - Kolob is "the great governing star of our universe" and "the residence of God." See Prophet Joseph Fielding Smith's "Church History and Modern Revelation" Volume 3, Page 60. - The Sun "borrows it's light from Kolob through the medium of Kae-e-vanrash.. which governs fifteen other fixed planets or stars.. and receives light from the revolutions of Kolob." This quote comes directly from the Book of Abraham, Facsimile Number 2, Explanation for Figure 5. Also see: http://nowscape.com/mormon/kolob-defined.htm - The Sun is a celestialized world, where its inhabitants are perfected. The Prophet Brigham Young taught in General Conference: "So it is with regard to the inhabitants of the sun. Do you think it is inhabited? I rather think it is. Do you think there is any life there? No question of it; it was not made in vain. It was made to give light to those who dwell upon it, and to other planets; and so will this earth when it is celestialized." See Journal of Discourses, 13:271. Also see Prophet Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, Volume 1 Page 88: "Earth to be Celestialized Sun" - The Earth will undergo a perfection after the millenium and become a huge seer stone of glass. People living on the Earth after this transformation will be able to look into the Earth and see things happening on "inferior" kingdoms (planets). See D&C 130:9 - God's home planet, Kolob, is at the center of our Galaxy, which all other stars rotate around. See Clark, J. Reuben Jr., "Behold the Lamb of God," page 46, "Kolob, the Governor"

Also...from the article, showing that the Mormon god can't get his narrative straight: - God can't get his story straight about which order he created the Earth. The order of the days of creation in Moses contradicts the order given in the Temple Endowment, which are both inspired truth. The third day (creation of life, vegetation and seeds) and fourth day (creation of light, moon and stars) of creation are switched in the temple ceremony, whereas Moses matches the order of Genesis. See Moses 2:9-19 and Temple Ceremony (all versions).

From the article: - "Thus the Lord has given us the information regarding his creations, and how he has made many earths, for there never was a beginning, never was a time when man did not exist somewhere in the universe, and when the time came for this earth to be peopled the Lord, our God, transplanted upon it from some other earth, the life which is found here." Improvement Era, Vol 23:389-393; Joseph Fielding Smith; "The Origin and Destiny of Man"; 1919

This is based upon Lds "scripture" Doctrine and Covenants 93:29,33...which says that spirits and intelligences are as eternal as God is: 29 Man was also in the beginning with God. Intelligence, or the light of truth, was not created or made, neither indeed can be. 33 For man is spirit. The elements are eternal... (LDS "scripture" Doctrine & Covenants 93:29,33)

Per the Mormon narrative, you started off as "goo" somewhere...a "spirit" (D&C 93:29,33)...You are just as "eternal" (as in eternal past) as God & Jesus...you haven't "lived" any less than them (past-wise)
Then you were spirit-born to a man who became God & one of his goddess wives...near "Kolob"...wherever that is...
Oh, and Lucifer -- Satan -- was your "elder spirit bro"
Then you were sent here to inhabit a body...

If you don't become a temple Mormon so you can eternally progress to become a future god like Mitt Romney (run your world; create your own spirit kids; receive worship & prayer & glory from them as a "god")...

Then you can be Necro-baptized by proxy in a spirit world where you & everybody goes (even the best Mormons go there, too, for a while)

And Lds "prophet" Woodruff said the signers of the Declaration of Independence came to him (their spirits) @ the St. George, Utah temple in the 1870s and begged him to necro-baptize them all!

And if the above wasn't enough, if you look under the "Spirit" entry in LDS church-published Bible Dictionary, 1979 (p. 776) -- in back of Holy Bible, you'll find this entry:

"That is, ALL forms of living things--man, beast and vegetation--existed as individual spirits, before any form of life existed upon the earth. The spirit is in the likeness of the physical body, as demonstrated in Gen. 2:5; 1 Ne. 11:11; Ether 3:15-16; D&C 77:2; 129; Moses 3:4-7. Furthermore, all spirit is matter, but is more refined and pure than mortal element (D&C 131:7)."

So. If you take the infinite regression teaching of the Mormon church -- infinitely regressing, we ALL have supposedly "existed" in some form -- [again, see @ Doctrine & Covenant 93:29,33 above...this teaches WE are as eternal (past) as God/Jesus, etc. -- & that spirits & intelligences & elements ALWAYS existed!!!
...and couple it with this above eternal regression teaching...that vegetation & beasts were co-existent alongside us as fellow "spirits" once upon a time...and that we all have ALWAYS existed...

Sometimes esoteric macabre teachings that you think are so FAR out there...are actually mainstream Mormonism!

*************

I recall an article from the Lds church owned Deseret News, where the specially appointed columnist dealing with issues within the Media commented: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints likewise takes no definitive view of when the embryo or fetus acquires a soul... [Source: LDS beliefs in Focus

I said then: Let me get this straight: Lds think man has been...
(1) as eternal as its god – that “intelligences” self-exist from eternity past (LDS Doctrine & Covenants 93:29,33).
(2) Then somehow these intelligences, who were beginningless, had “beginnings” as spirit babies of a god & goddess in some “pre-existence.”
(3) Then the spirit baby fully matured in the “pre-existence.”
(4) Then it came to pass that this spirit baby passed down an earthly birth canal. This time to a second set of parents (humans on earth).
(5) Oh. But the LDS general authorities, according to their own complex belief system, conclude that it ”takes no definitive view of when...” this “intelligence-baby spirit-fully matured spirit-now-embryo" has ”acquired a soul.”
Oh. Just Oh.
(If these entities "birthed" in heaven have no soul, what are they?)

Perhaps that explains Mitt Romney...I suppose he was born soulless as a spirit on a planet near the star Kolob!

Give it a rest. Nobody in the church even thinks about this obscure stuff, much less preaches about it. You really should consider counseling - maybe someone could help you overcome your unhealthy obsession.

Two questions:

1) Do any Mormons take this seriously?
2) Is this stuff wackier than Marxism? (Bears on electoral choice!)

Why do you print this crap? Every rational person knows Mormonism is made up of fairy tales and wackjob theories. The overall effect is to smear Romney. If Obummer the marxist gets reelected we will have a Mormon wonderland. Let the religion stuff rest until after the election. I’ll be Romney in his heart of hearts doesn’t believe all this gibberish!

Nobody in the church even thinks about this obscure stuff...

All: #1: Note: JusttheTruth is Lds.

#2: Some of this "stuff" is Lds "scriptures," Mormon "prophet" revelations which JusttheTruth attempts to write off as "obscure..."

(If the Mormon gods' revelations from D&C 130 & 93 & 88:7 & 131:7 & 61:13-19 & Book of Abraham 3:3 & Moses 2:14-19 & other verses are meant to fade into obscurity, why did the Mormon god reveal them? And why do Mormon leaders spend so much time commenting upon all of these verses?)

#3: (Are you simply hoping this the kind of stuff doesn't get out, JusttheTruth? Are you hoping this would simply remain "obscure?")

He wants to discredit Romney.

So, he should stay home or vote third party and give Obama another vote.

(As if it was my fault that RINOland selected Romney)

I’ll be Romney in his heart of hearts doesn’t believe all this gibberish!

Romney elaborated on this the last election cycle...He said: "They would prefer it if I would simply distance myself from my religion, say that it is more a tradition than my personal conviction, or disavow one or another of its precepts. That I will not do. I believe in my Mormon faith and I endeavor to live by it. My faith is the faith of my fathers - I will be true to them and to my beliefs."

1) Do any Mormons take this seriously?

(Yes, especially the "verses" from Lds "scripture"...see post #9...and see that those Lds "scriptural" references are found in the article...plus a few more I didn't mention in post #9)

2) Is this stuff wackier than Marxism?

Well, Mormonism hasn't always been removed from Marxism. In fact, one Mormon writer says late-19th century Mormon communism helped to inspire Soviet communism!

(See chart for how has Romney's Mormonism effected his governing in Bay State & His campaign statements?)

GOV. Romney Mormon 'scripture' & History Sources Quotes
ObamaCare based upon RomneyCare [SoConPubbie has posted some threads the week of April 16, 2012 along these lines]. In addition, what about Romney's $50 taxpayer-subsidized abortions -- and some $0 abortions -- he permanently imposed a Planned Parenthood rep into supervision of RomneyCare? (Since he vetoed other portions of that legislation, the Planned Parenthood rep section was also something he could have vetoed). For all of the pro-abortion damage done by Romney in the Bay State, see: RomneyCare Now Funding FREE Abortions: A Disqualifier for Mitt Romney’s Candidacy [Enabler Mitt] Mitt's Mormonism embraced socialism/communism under the 'United Order' – sacred commands still on the Mormon “scriptures” – depicted to be “everlasting” commandments of the Mormon god The Mormon socialistic/communistic “everlasting” nature of the “United Order” depicted in Lds “scriptures” – Doctrine & Covenants 82:18-19 and 104:1, 48, 53. Even Lds author George Givens described Brigham Young’s communist-built community of Orderville, Utah as “pure communism”: "When Brigham Young established Orderville and similar United Orders, John Taylor was less than enthusiastic. He realized that enterprises such as Orderville were pure communism and not the law of consecration. He made this plain after he became President, when in 1882 he sent an epistle to all authorities of the Church in which he bluntly stated: 'We had no example of the 'United Order' in accordance with the word of God on the subject...Our relations with the world and our own imperfections prevent the establishment of this system [i.e. the system of consecration and stewardship spoken of at times as the 'United Order'] at the present time, as was stated by Joseph in an early day, it cannot yet be carried out.'" (George W. Givens, 500 More Little-Known Facts in Mormon History, 2004, p. 169)"One of the most famous utopian books ever written was Looking Backward by Edward Bellamy, published in 1889. Some scholars believe Looking Backward had considerable influence in the making of Lenin's Soviet Russia. If this is true, then [ensuing Lds "prophet"] Lorenzo Snow and the Latter-day Saints must receive some of the credit--or blame. Hearing of the success of the United Order in Brigham City, Edward Bellamy made a special trip to Utah in 1886 to study its operation. There he spent three days with Lorenzo Snow, Brigham City's founder and forty-year resident. Impressed with the thirty to forty industries run by its 2,000 inhabitants and the vitality at that time of one of the most successful United Orders, Bellamy returned home and wrote his influential book." (500 More Little-Known Facts in Mormon History, p. 185). Way to go, 19th century Mormon leader-“prophets” of Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, John Taylor & Lorenzo Snow!!! They all unwittingly fueled Soviet Communism!

Suppose someone is reading this who happens to be considering joining the Mormon church? He sees the truth about the whackjob faith, and decides to seek Christ instead. IMO, that’s a very good thing.

The lds-org denies that Jesus is the Creator, that everything was created BY Him.

The lds-org is a thief of the Name and the Truth of Jesus Christ.

Just as I can’t imagine believing any of the whacky Mormon stuff, so I can’t imagine this endless obsessively obsessive obsession that Colofornian has on the subject. Notice that he doesn’t just post an endless series of anti-Mormon articles, but he also adds his own repititiously repititive data dump of links, notes and quotes.

I know I don’t have to read this stuff and I do always skip over every datadump-type post from everyone in FR. But this particular article (not the post that accompanies it but the article itself) is mildly amusing, I have to admit.

BTW, I lived and worked in Las Vegas for many years, worked with a lot of Mormons, generally found them level-headed, dependable and conservative.

All true! All True! Along with Jehovah Witnesses, Scientology, Kabala, Islam and a host of other Lucifer-inspired cults. My focus is on this country America. Obama is an avowed socialist, raised on radicalism, closet Muslim or sympathizer. We need to expel this political virus from America. Then we can work on RINO-designate Romney.

I hate say this but it’s true. I lived in Montana for 15 years around a lot of Mormons. They were some of the nicest, most conservative, conscientious people I knew (Even better than most Christians!) Saying this, I cannot in any way accept their wacky history and theology. But I am electing a President, not a theologian. Kennedy did a lot of good things while he was President, but he was an abysmal Catholic. Bill Clinton had a budget surplus while Monica was under his desk.

They do.

Once, I was walking around the lake path and saw two Mormon missionary ladies with their nametags on. I went up to them and asked "Will you be eternally pregnant and living on Kobol?".

They answered "You do know something about us", which I took for a solid 'Yes'.

They asked me if I had read the book of Mormon, to which I replied "Yes, and I was wondering why so many sections were word for word from the King James Bible?"

To that they replied, "you should talk with our elders".
